We also see buildings during this period in which the architecture aligns with the inhabitants. Buildings of this shape and proportion less developed and refined. Charming in their own way but coarse in the use of wood and plaster.

There are people in your first picture. It is the second one that replicates "St. Petersburg 1860"

Look closer at the four sculptures that adorn each of it's sides. Look at the intricacy of the sculptures. Look at the patterning of the ornamentation that frames the arc. Each section is perfectly repeated without any deviation or inconsistency.

I don't quite agree with you on those statues which was made in the 17-18th century from soft marble,there are even more intricate works of art during the Renaissance by master artists like Michelangelo,Donatello,Bellagio,etc.
What about the kailasa temple complex in ellora India that was carved out of a single hill of volcanic rock from 756-773AD,with more than two stories,120ft high and thousands of even more intricate carvings,the baffling thing is that it was carved from top to bottom,what about the ancient Egyptians carving monumental obelisks of 500+ tons and 100+ feet high from solid granite with only bronze tools during the region of thutmose lll(1479-1424 BCE),it was later taken to Rome by the mad Roman emperor Gaius Caligula in 37BCE to Rome were it stands till today at the lateran basilica in St Peter's square, even the logistics of transportating such load from Egypt to Rome will task our modern machines,talkless of in ancient times when they have only slaves,donkeys,carts and sail powered ships,all these were done even before Jesus was born,modern tools and convenience has made man to retrogress and devolve most of our natural skills and prowess leaving computers and power tools to fill the vacuum,the most insulting suggestions that ancient aliens helped to build those things is not only malicious but racist because the white man cannot believe that when they are still living in mud and thatch houses when the Egyptians and Indians are already living in stone palaces with the ability to produce such mind boggling works.

The little I know about photography and possibly a reason why you don't see anybody in the old pictures is because of the time it took moving images to be captured on early cameras.

The images had to be extremely still to be captured by the lenses at the time. As the technology improved, so did the quality of the pictures and hence pockets of people appearing here and there as more pictures were taken over the ages.

On the buildings, well you just have to look at the habitations of the Romans and even the Greeks in all that time before Christ (B.C.). I reckon they got their building designs and how to construct them from the Egyptians. What probably happened as the commentator before me has suggested is that the technologies for these types of craftsmanship were exported to Europe.

First of all, I didn't get my photos from google. I got them from historical documents that indexes the exact year the pictures were taken.

You can go online and type 1860 St Petersburg and you will find pictures taken in that year, as well as others taken late into the century.

Below is the website your photo originated from. It clearly says 19th century Petersburg. It doesn't give the exact year the picture was taken.

I do my research carefully. Stop using google, get historical documents and do your research. Even if you have to pay for them.
