Hello everyone
Please is it true that one needs to book to and fro in order to be able to travel with a visit visa. If yes, what is the most affordable and good airline to travel with?
Also, I will like to know the list of foods that are banned from traveling with.
Thanks

No
Airline will even not allow you to board plane without a US Visa

Unless you are using a super visa, CBSA will not allow you into Canada without a return ticket

Good evening Nairalanders, trust we all good.

Please I would like to ask the following questions:

I have been to Canada before, sometime in 2018 and didn't abuse my visa. Only stayed 23days and left for the UK for four days to attend a friend child's christening, then back to Nigeria. Please note I have been to several other countries including the United States, France, Italy, Egypt, Uganda South Africa Tanzania and some other countries. At the moment I am operating on a 5yrs UK visa and planned visiting the UK soon on a short vacation.

I want to renew my Canada TRV without a specific travel plan yet. Meanwhile, I have a friend who is now a Canadian citizen and has offered to send an invitation to visit him and his family. This is yet to be concluded though.

Now, considering the fact that my friend got his citizenship via Asylum. Please I need to know if that will affect my application or not?

Meanwhile, I got my first TRV visa via Hotel reservation.

Also, which of the portal is best for recent applications. Old or new portal?

Please I need a professional advice to the above concerns just to clear my doubts.

Thanks!

Use the first route of hotel reservation. Your chance is high

The general rule of visit visa is that you must have a return ticket. For the fact that somebody was allowed to enter with that does not mean another officer will allow it.

I think I really need to work on my letter of intent. Thanks for the advice and detailed explanation. I have just ordered for my GCSM notes, once it arrives I'd reapply again.

yungbilli:

I will advise you apply for a GCSM note. You will find out if the reason for your refusal is genuine or just some bias because you applied for the US and not Canada first or because you're not holding a german passport or wanting you to apply from your home country. I won't be surprise if basically you only need to work on your letter of intent explaining more on your residential status in Germany, Travel Itinerary on why you want to visit Niagara falls in Canada when you can view the falls in the US from the observation tower, terrapin point, whirlpool state park and so on, and you could also have the horseshoe Falls, american falls, and bridal veil falls view. I believe you just need to have your letter of intent air tight and have a detailed Itinerary from US to CA and back to Germany.

No, I don't want a judicial review. I have just ordered for my caipsnotes, via this website
https://status.caipsnotes.com/.
Thanks for your response

Blessed451:

What do you mean appealing? do you want a judicial review? I won't advice you to tow that path yet. You got a generic response from the VO, you need to order for the real officers note aka GCMS so you know the precise reason(s) for your refusal.
Re: Canada Visit/tourist Visa Discussion. by Stevwonders: 6:07am On Jun 09, 2022
Thank you for taking your time to respond. I have ordered for my GCSM notes, waiting patiently upon its arrival. I would definitely update it here smiley

olasubomy:

I am sorry about the delay in your application from IRCC.

The refusal reasons means IRCC doubts ties to your home country (Nigeria). Refusal reasons based on travel history and immigration status could mean the following;

• You have more ties to another country aside from your home country.
• There is no proof on file with immigration that you have a job or established business back home.
• You have overstayed your visa in another country.
• You currently live in another country and have been there for an extensive period.
• You are currently studying in another country.

This is not saying you are guilty of any of the above because we have not seen your GCMS notes, but to show you a few examples of the meaning of that category of refusal reasons

Once immigration has made a verdict on your application, the only means to appeal this is Judicial review. Judicial review is costly and time-consuming, and it is like taking the Government of Canada to court. This is not to discourage you if you want to tow that part but to let you know that hiring an authorised Canadian Immigration lawyer is not cheap. They can only do their best to defend you in court, but the final verdict lies with the presiding judge or jury.

My candid advice would be that you don’t rush to file another application. The best is to wait for your GCMS notes and give some time to build a more robust profile or strengthen your home ties before filing another visit visa application. You save a lot of money with this approach.

I wish you the best!

You should have gotten it after 24hrs of submission. Can you check your portal if you have the biometric request letter there?
If not, kindly mail IRCC to notify them

I withdrew my TRV application June 1st 2022, because of the long processing time. I applied since nov 2021 via the new portal but no response . I raised a gcms note and when I received it I saw that my application is still inprocess only background checked passed, bio passed ,security check passed , nothing yet has been done even eligibility has not started .

After I raised a web form to cancel and redraw my application . My eligibility started two day ago on the portal .

If you were able to cancel or successfully redraw your application, how long did it take ?

I am yet to get a response that my application has been redrawn or cancelled .

How long does it take ?

@olasubomy does this mean that the in Canada processing time applies.....have been on SOWP so if my wife applies for me from canada its better than if i apply myself from Nigeria
olasubomy:

Hi Raymond,

The application process is simply the same. A temporary resident in Canada may choose to apply for his/her spouse in Nigeria as their representative. This kind of application would be deemed filed in Canada. This temporary resident can then follow up with IRCC should there be need in case of delay in application processing.

That's just the basic difference.

afrobrown2000:

Yes, sir, processing time applies to both outside and inside Canada. You can view the link below for the IRCC guidelines for different categories of applications as it relates to in and out of Canada. Your SOWP would have a shorter processing time if filed from Canada, but the actual processing time and finalization of your application are up to the immigration authorities.

https://www.canada.ca/en/immigration-refugees-citizenship/services/application/check-processing-times.html

Currently, some applications recently filed inside Canada are taking longer than usual, like Post Graduate Work Permit (PGWP), which used to be very fast. PGWP processing now is running into months due to the backlogs of applications IRCC is dealing with and support they are rendering to wartorn countries like Ukraine. So you may experience longer than normal processing times

No return ticket, no boarding on a visitor visa.

Only if using a super visa

Why are people asking questions that has been answered? If you go to Canada on normal visit visa with a one way visa, if the officer is lenient with you, he may send you back. But if you meet a wicked person, the visa may be cancelled. They will tell you that contrary to what you told them before granting you the visa that you would return back to Nigeria, your one way ticket is an indication that you have no intention of returning back to Nigeria
