This sounds like a lot of capital but the yields is worth the venture with the rate of construction going on over there on the island

What's the range you think one can comfortably start this business with ,that's without owning your own dredging machine tho

I have no idea how much you will need to pay for rental of the site cos it varies and is the major expense you will incur but for renting a dredger and a good payloader to start operations you should need at least 5million.

Please note that there are still some other incidental expenses you will need to bear; for instance you will need to settle the Baalé of the local community, you also need to settle the youths and the community may also demand that you hire bulldozers to grade the roads from time to time because of the damage the trucks coming to pick up sand from your dredging site

God knows I won't lose N5 out of that N15 million, worse case scenario, I convert everything to dollar and go for 1% annual interest rate.

I'm sure by 2027 naira v dollar must have hit N900/$, that is a guaranteed annual 10% interest rate and even more.

Sorry but do you mean dangote not opening his refinery is the major reason why devaluation, inflation and USD rate keep going up?

Suggestions are welcome.

Diversify the investment. Don't invest everything. In one entity. I will advice you to do crypto arbitrage, very unbelievably profitable with a fraction of that you can make at least 0.5% daily or more daily and arbitrage isn't concerned with the current price of crypto in the market.

Thanks for the detailed explanations.
Though it sounded like a business that requires more than 15 million naira.
The returns in numbers weren't much clear but I'm sure you can give all that when contacted.
SavageResponse:
I will give you a summary of how the business works

What you do is you go to a site that is suitable for dredging and you pay for a lease. There are several dredging sites on the Lekki-Ajah expressway, there is one beside Heyden filling station just before you get to VGC gate if you're coming from Victoria Island it is on the left side of the road.

There is another one just after you pass Sangotedo just before you get to Abijo. When you get to Awoyaya there are about 3 different ones that I know of there including one that is owned by a politician.

Now after paying for the lease and settling the omo oniles you move in your equipment which consists of the dredger and a payloader.

The dredger usually consists of s barge that has a large hose connected to it for sucking sand from the bottom of the river or lagoon and the payloader is used for loading sand onto the trucks that came to buy sand.

Now the process is that the dredger when switched on will suck sand and water from the bottom of the river and will pump it to the bank of the river.

The water will flow back into the river leaving just the sand.

When people come to buy sand the payloader will scoop sand from the heap and use it to load the truck. On average it takes about 6 or 7 scoops to fill up the bucket of a 30 ton truck.

The main risk of this business is that money comes in everyday therefore you must be on ground to monitor sales otherwise if you'tr not physically present if your workers sell to 15 trucks they will tell you that they only sold to 10 trucks and they pocket thhe rest of your money.

In this business you don't ever sell sand on credit no matter what!

Let's assume for instance you sell 5 trucks of sand on credit the person who bought form you will come back to pay you, what he will do is he will divert to start busing from another dredging site thereby leaving you to bear the loss.

If you invest your money in this business you will loose big time if you don't have tight internal control or if you do not understand the business!

I don't see what's the point of this all then if you cannot summarise.
Summarise how it all works and the basics of its business model that makes it so lucrative on here. That's the barest minimum before any serious person contacts you further.

Sand dredging is the process of removing sand and gravel from the different water bodies, essentially for the construction of buildings and roads.

A Shelter is the most basic need of man. Therefore, sharp sand is a commodity that gets sold easily anywhere across the globe. This business is also called “waterfront/side” business by local sand dealers.

The waterfront/waterside business booms with an increasing need for housing for over 200 million Nigerians. With the increasing number of structures being built daily and the ever increasing demand for the commodity, investors in the business are hardly out of business, irrespective of change in stock market prices, fall in Naira value, rainy or even dry season.

Areas Where Sharp Sand is dredged in Nigeria
In Lagos state, there are sand mining activities From Epe to Ikorodu; Lekki to Ojo and Badagry. Most of the lagoons in Lagos state are dredging site for sand dealers.

In Delta State, sand is mined in Ughelli North, Okpe, Udu, and Uvwie Local Government Areas, specifically in Effurun, Ovwian, Ugolo, Uvwiama, Agbarho, Oteri and Ughelli towns. Most river beds in the Niger-delta area witness sand mining.

If you stay around any major water bodies in the country, you should have noticed the activities of these local sand dealers. In River Niger in Onitsha, there are lots of sand dealers.

Any community that situated beside any water body will most likely be a good spot for sand dredging. Sand can be gotten from any rivers, oceans, and lagoons around the country.

Waterside/front Business Models
Below are the 2 primary ways in which investors make money from sand dredging in Nigeria

[b][\b] The capital intensive Model [b][\b]
sand dredging machineThis entails an investment of #15 million Naira to 50 million Naira. Investors who follow this investment model, invest big money in the acquisition of relevant dredging machines and equipment. They also invest big amounts of money in the acquisition of government sand dredging license.

Also, some money is spent on the acquisition of an ocean/river corner to be dredged. Investors will also have to settle the host community.

Most of these investors sell the sand direct it to big construction companies by per cubic meter or by tippers and per trailer and they also sell to the sand dealer that have invested lower capitals in the business.

Investment of this scale will require a business plan and market research to validate the business idea. You will also have to build a good marketing team that will help you reach out to big real estate and construction firms who will buy the sand in huge quantities.

If you need more assistance in starting the business, always use the contact form to reach me.

[b][\b] Low capital intensive Model [b][\b]
This entails the investment of capital between 5 million to Seven hundred thousand Naira. People in this level of the business, make use of locally made wooden boats other means.

They purchase sands from the dredgers who own the dredging machine, and then they come to the waterfront and sample their goods. they serve as the middlemen between the dredgers and those who demand sand for their various construction work.

You can participate actively by owning the boat or any equipment and selling your sand by yourself or you can invest with those already in the business and they give you steady returns on a weekly basis.

The waterside is where the tippers load the sand and deliver it to the persons who need them.

[b][\b]Steps to starting a dredging business in Nigeria[b][\b]

Starting a dredging business in Nigeria requires that you take the appropriate steps. This will allow your business to thrive and operate legally without facing unnecessary challenges with any professional bodies concerned. The following are important steps to follow and also serve as a guide for you:
