This particular side of my farmland fence failed for the second year running as a result of rain water. The back of the fence is sloppy, so all the rain water coming down from behind lodge at the back of the fence. So last year after the fence failed, we constructed four concrete pillars, and still it failed yesterday again. Although, someone suggested that I do a drainage to pass through the farmland but I am not disposed to the idea because of reptiles that may be gaining access into the land, so we didnt do that.

Engineers in the house, please what do you advice I do to stop this recurrence.

Thanks

You need to do concrete fencing that can hold water, you will need long runner rode iron bender to tie the basket for you and then get good Brick layers and laborers to do pouring then chain it round, at the first and second coach from there you can start using blocks to complete the rest side of the fence

Your foundation level too low...
You need to raise it above the road level.

You must do a drainage. Maybe you allow the drainage pass along the fence to where ever. Thsta the first step.

Next step if you dont want to do drainage is to increase the quantity of sand and granite in the concrete.
Maybe 2 :3:4
2 bags cement, 3 barrow sand, 4 barrow granite.

Thsnk you

if you do not arrest the water you will continue rebuilding the fence. you have to redirect the flow of water through your site.
you need that drain

you are worried about reptiles, build a steel mesh. or maybe aluminum. this will be a maintenance point however as io may either be rusting and have to be replaced or it will block debris that will have to be removed

end of story.

Foundation matters alot in building,do a raft of 3 to 4 boards chain it well and let the mixture of concerts be pure before erecting your fence.

Do a solid foundation to a reasonable height with adequate rod in place before block laying.

Make sure the blocks to be used are all solid( use 1 bag to mould 25 blocks).

Ensure your concrete mixing ratio is standard.

Finally, whatever it takes channel that water away.

The mixture as seen in the picture is very bad.

Is like using mould to mix with cement.

Your foundation is no deep enough, and the quality of work done seems poor.
1. Reinforced concrete strip foundation
2. Concrete columns
3. Provide 4" pipes at intervals
Problem solved

Nairaland should watch what they feed us as news, I wonder why this should make frontpage, you can't see threads like this on LIB or any other popular platform.

I'll soon deactivate my NL account.

if only you know how money people naira land have saved their lives or pockets, you won't make this post. Nairaland is a forum and not a blog. Lib is a blog not a forum. You need to understand the difference. All topics are welcomed in a general forum.

use concrete as the foundation, den let the concrete be as high as a three courses above the ground level. Make sure the concrete is perforated above the ground level to allow passage of water/runoff.

Your excuse for not being disposed to a drainage is not valid.

99 % of Reptiles will climb that block fence.

Re: Part Of My Farmland's Fence Fell Down For The 2nd Time (Photos) by UTEWUOJO: 12:43pm On Jun 25, 2022
What you need is a raft foundation plus a solid drainage system to channel that stagnant water away from the back of your fence. What you did twice there that failed is treating symptoms without treating the root cause. Always consult a professional Builder/Engineer for the best result.
Re: Part Of My Farmland's Fence Fell Down For The 2nd Time (Photos) by Sexydevil(m): 12:43pm On Jun 25, 2022
Do a partial raft foundation for the affected area of your fence and a good drainage system. The foundation has to be properly done.

Thanks.
