Kamadorawa bawo? E buru o!

Kriss216 and his/her likes just type or write to chase clout.

People who know the exploits of iru (locust bean) don't joke with it.
I use it for my efo-riro, efo elegunsi, ila, ila alasepo, iresi elepo, gbegiri, ata dindin. You will eat and lick your fingers.
My restaurant is loading. Will invite Kris to the opening. There's no condiment like iru. The taste is unique and you get the best processed iru from my part of Nigeria, Kogi State.

We Yoruba call it Iru or Eware and in almost all our soup it's a compulsory ingredients. Efo riro, ila or ila alasepo, Ewedu or Ewedu Alasepo, gbegiri, Egusi, Obe isapa and many others. This Iru must be added to bring out the life of the soup.

Do other tribes in Nigeria use this ingredient and what's it called in your dialect?

Nigerians in diaspora, do you get to use Iru in your soups too?

Babe! I love iru, either iru woro or iru Pete. Can you invite me to come and taste your food. Please dear, just once.

I grow up in Akure, so I'm good in eating it.

But as idoma boy that I am, our own is called okpeyin, moulded round with sticky smell but with a great taste.
We call it okpeyi. Started eating this in nsukka.

Ours is ogiri.

I have Japanese own. Our own tastes even better.

In Gambia, their own is ogiri too. Almost like the igbo type.

Funny thing is, Yorubas will allow this thing to ferment and be smelling like shiit. They will then add it to food and eat.

Pukes. grin

Try the iru from Kogi State. You won't like another. I traveled home once and brought some and shared for my colleagues, just as a token to compensate for their calls. Since then, my colleagues at work always contribute money for me to send home to help them get our iru. Infact different testimonies from them, and by extension, their husbands too ever since.

Ogiri -okpei- dawadawa- iru = fermented seeds from either locust beans. I heard some people use soya beans to make them too.

If freshly fermented great in melon soup and okra.
My grandmother made the best ones. Delish and not too strong smell.

Wash your hands with soap and water after handling it.

So you mean you've never had locust beans with your food before?

No?
You must really like it so much…

Even your moniker sounds like dawadawa.
I think that’s what the Hausas call it. Although the preparation is different.

So we are from the same state... That's nice, we can be mutual now
