Please don't make me start screaming about these 2. I thought Doctor John was my fave (it's my fave drama of his with romance) then the devil judge came out and I fell in love all over again!!!

He's just too good!!! I'm trying to think of a drama of his that was bad...I might be thinking till 2030 lol.

What really sealed his acting for me were his roles in defendant and secret love. I think I watched those before I watched kill me heal me.

OH sweetheart I actually did long long ago but I'll explain again. It's honestly not a serious reason. The first drama I ever attempted was yi San and it was a new experience for me. I was used to watching American series that was 45 minutes per episode but this one was longer and I found myself getting tired, over 1 hour and the main leads had not grown up (lol typical American series, the leads childhood is shown for like 20 minutes and we get the full gist) anyway I slept and woke up so many times and the episode had still not ended so I decided that was it, saguek's are not for me. I know there are really good ones e.g I watched 1 episode of queen for 7 days and I was so tempted to break my rule but *sigh* they're mostly more than 20 episodes and mostly about palace politics, I really just hate the fact that I slept off on my first encounter with a saguek. I am not one to sleep off on something I'm watching for the first time

A man (ksi) is a retired police detective and apparently he was really good at the job cos even though he has retired his subordinates keep coming to ask for help/advice on their cases.
He’s going home after helping some of his juniors when he notices that he’s being stalked by a man (pjh). Ksi pretends not to notice.
Ksi is home and trying to sleep but sleep does’nt come so he drinks a bottle of soju and tries to sleep again. He’s still not able to so he goes out to get another bottle of soju. He gets home and sees his stalker in his living room staring at a painting of a family. Pjh turns to face ksi and ksi is shocked and scared, he drops his bottle of soju on the floor. Pjh smiles evilly and says it’s been a while, hasn’t it detective? Ksi bends to pick the broken bottle and pjh says I’ve been released. I served the full 7 year sentence. He walks around leisurely, scoffs and says I was born premature but I couldn’t even leave prison early. Detective(ksi) asks how did you find this place? Pjh says your house is pretty small. Isn’t it a little too big to live alone tho? Detective holds a piece of broken glass tightly. Pjh opens a door sharply and says I see you live with your daughter. He inhales and says it smells like a girl’s room. He looks at detective’s hand and notices that its bleeding from the glass he’s holding tightly. He says oh, you’re bleeding. He takes the glass from the detective’s hand and says you should be careful. Detective says why are you here? Pjh smiles his evil smile and says well, why do you think I’m here? It was so unfair. I didn’t kill him but you locked me up. It really wasn’t me, you knew it wasn’t me.
We see a flashback of Pjh at a club, he’s walking towards a room when a girl hurriedly runs past him brushing him in the process. He wonders what’s wrong with her but continues to the room. He enters the room and runs out immediately in shock.
Back to the present, detective says you killed him, what are you talking about? There was a witness, your fingerprints, and you were caught on the scene, what nonsense are you talking about? Pjh says it wasn’t me. Detective says if not you then who? Pjh says you would know that better than anyone. Detective asks what are you saying that I know? Pjh says I read a book in prison, it said man is noble because he feels guilt. If you’re guilty of a crime it creeps up on you (p.s detective looks really guilty) the guilt seeps out from your chest. I bring out your guilt right? He smiles and says I’ll use this room. Detective asks what are you talking about? Pjh answers that’s the least you can do for a man you locked up innocently. Be humane for God’s sake, it’s good to see you again detective.
A girl (uhk) is on a call, she says im sorry manager im on a vacation with my friend’s and my schedule is at home. Another call is coming through, she sees that its her dad and asks manager to excuse her. She answers dad’s call and says I’m sorry dad, I’ll call you back. Her dad is the detective he wants to tell her more but she has ended the call, her name is younghui.
Detective is sleeping, he feels a presence in his room and wakes up shocked to see pjh standing with a pillow over him, he bends with the pillow like he’s about to strangle the detective, the detective sits up in shock but pjh only lays the pillow next to the detective’s and lays down near him.
The next morning detective opens the door to pjh’s room and its empty, he turns back and sees pjh staring at him. They stare at each other for a while and pjh asks where’s my breakfast.
They are having breakfast and pjh compliments the detective’s cooking and says he’s glad he can also have good food from now on. Detective asks him how long he plans to stay? Pjh asks are you really sure I’m the criminal? Detective says what? Pjh asks are you 100% sure? Detective says there are no criminals who admit to their crime. Pjh says you’re not answering my question, its not about what I think, I’m asking what you think. Why can’t you answer right away, that’s strange. Detective says what are you trying to say? Pjh says looks like your daughter didn’t come home, is it ok for a girl to stay out? Detective asks what has that got to do with you? Pjh smiles and says what should we do today?
They go to a store and pjh picks a phone. The saleslady says you must be happy, your dad is buying a phone for you. Detective looks surprised. Pjh says of course I’m happy, he does everything for me. He looks at the detective evilly and says he has no other choice.
The detective steps out to answer a phone call, apparently he asked a subordinate to run a check on pjh(his name is lee taeho). The subordinate says there’s nothing suspicious about lee taeho, he got out after his sentence was served, he didn’t cause any trouble in jail. Detective asks what about his visitors? Subordinate says only 2 people visited him in jail, one of them is dead and the other is a guy named kim sangjin, an ex convict. Detective asks for sangjin’s address and asks who the dead person is? Surbodinate says its lee taeho’s father. Detective looks shocked . Taeho comes to tell him to pay for the phone.
At home taeho is finding it hard to operate a smartphone and asks the detective to teach him. The detective gets tired and pushes taeho’s hand, the phone falls and taeho looks sad. Detective says im sorry. Taeho asks for what? That’s not the first time you’ve said sorry to me, do you remember?
Flashback to detective interrogating taeho 7 years ago, after pronouncing taeho guilty, detective says I’m sorry.
Back to the present, detective say s ive never said that to you. Taeho says im sure I heard it, I thought about it a lot in prison. Why did you say sorry to me? The detective in charge that locked me in jail for murder, its strange isn’t it? That must mean you wronged me somehow. Detective answers sharply, I told I never said that! Taeho says you knew I wasn’t the killer didn’t you? Detective receives a message with Kim sangjin’s address. Taeho looks at him smiles and says maybe not.
Detective goes to sangjin’s house but can’t find him, he asks the landlady if she knows his whereabouts? She sighs and says the police again? He has a friend who works at a mechanic’s. She directs the detective.
The mechanic says its been long since he saw sangjin and asks why the detective is looking for him? Detective says he has a friend named lee taeho who went to prison for murder, I think he needs to be questioned again. Sangjin went to visit taeho in prison, that’s how close they were. I was hoping he could help our investigation. Mechanic says I’ve heard about taeho from sangjin, he was framed right? Detective asks and? Mechanic says I heard they found the real killer (me:are you sure this mechanic isn’t the sangjin guy) Detective looks nervous and asks who did they say the real killer is, did he mention any evidence or witness? Mechanic says I don’t remember clearly but he said the detective in charge of the case would know best and said he would get revenge on him.

Detective leaves the mechanic walking slowly and remembering his conversations with lee taeho since he came to his house. He calls taeho on the phone and asks him to meet him somewhere. Taeho says no problem. Lmao taeho is actually still stalking him and followed him all the way to the mechanic.
Detective is driving while taeho is in the passenger seat seriously playing a game on his phone. He asks the detective if he’s taking him somewhere nice cos they are going out of seoul. Detective says we are just going on a drive. As they are driving detective is staring at taeho intensely, a truck is coming towards them, detective notices it to late and tries to swerve but the car somersaults and… mtcheww it’s an imagination. A truck was coming towards them but detective was quick enough to dodge it safely. Detective says let’s go eat. They are walking through a forest and taeho asks how much longer do we have to go? Detective says just a little further. Taeho says im curious tho, what we ate earlier was that udon or just plain noodles? They were too thin to be udon and too thick to plain noodles, it’s a real mystery. The murderer is a mystery too. The detective stops shocked . Taeho continues is it a male or a female and how are they related to you, will they be very close to you? I wonder. He continues walking.
They get to a river. Taeho smiles and says where is the fishing site here? Detective says there was one long ago. Taeho laughs and says did you bring me here to kill me? Detective asks how did you find out, who else besides you knows, Kim sangjin, you told everything to kim sangjin, did he see something? Taeho laughs and says did you do some research? Detective shouts just answer my question! He grabs taeho by the collar and says just how much do you know? Taeho laughs and says of course I know everything, how much would you like me to know, why don’t you tell me? I’ve given you plenty of clues. Detective says are you by chance waiting for younghui to come home? It wasn’t her fault, it was an accident for sure. She ran away because she was scared.
Flashback to the day of the murder, the detective was among the people investigating the case. He found younghui’s phone in the scene and sees her sneaking into the club, apparently she was the girl that brushed past taeho in the first flashback. Detective hides younghui’s phone in his pocket. She gets to the scene obviously there to search for her phone. She’s shocked to see her dad. He asks what she’s doing there and she stammers nervously dad.. he cuts in saying I told you I’d be home early you don’t have to come check on me. She says erm.. I got admitted into the university, the result came out today. He says really, congratulations and hugs her, let’s go celebrate. They both look nervous cos of the secrets they are hiding. She gets home and scatters her room searching for her phone. Her dad comes to find her searching for it, she starts crying and is about to confess but her dad shows her the phone and says I found it in the car.
Back to the present, detective is pleading with taeho. He says she doesn’t know anything. I brought you into this, I started it all. Taeho looks at him with anger and pain and says so I found the right person, he pushes the detective into the water and shouts I’m going to kill you and your daughter. They start fighting in the river. They pretty much beat each other up but taeho being younger has the upper hand. He stops beating the detective and says no its to easy to kill you here. You started it so you’ll finish it. Detective asks what does that mean? Taeho walks away. Detective shouts after him crying Lee taeho what does that mean?
Younghui and her friend’s are still on vacation. The friend’s are congratulating her cos apparently she’s dating a lawyer who just got a job at a pretty big law firm. While drinking one of the friend’s suggest they go to a club and everyone is suddenly nervous. Another friend says don’t you know younghui doesn’t go to clubs, she has club allergy. The first friend asks why? Younghui says don’t worry, we can go, I think im ok now.
We see a flashback of the day of the murder, the guy that died was trying to sexually harass her so she pushes him away and he hit his head and died (me: if it was an accident in self defense why did the dad go through all that trouble and frame someone *sigh*).
Back to the present she runs out of the club cos she still remembers the incident vividly.
Detective and taeho are back home. Detective asks what do you mean by that, by me finishing it, what do you want from me? Taeho says I want you to report your own daughter.Detective says what? He holds taeho and says how can I do that to her? Taeho says I’ll kill her if you don’t report her. I have nothing to lose. She’s ruined my life so I feel really wronged. You make the choice, do you want to report her or kill her? Detective says what are you saying? Taeho says you make the choice, I don’t really care. Younghui’s life is in your hands. Detective kneels and grabs taeho’s leg, he says I’m sorry, forgive me taeho, no.. you don’t have to forgive me, just spare younghui please, I’ll do whatever you ask, I’ll die if you want me to, I’ll crawl if you want me to. Taeho laughs painfully and says such love for your child, you’re making me cry. Detective continues to beg desperately for younghui’s life. Taeho says if you want her to live report her. Detective stands up and grabs taeho by the throat saying that’s just telling her to die. Taeho removes his hands and says how dare you shout at me, say one more word and I’ll kill her. Detective says then just give me some time. Taeho says fine, I didn’t want it to end too soon anyway, you’re the one that suffers not me. Detective says but don’t do anything to younghui. Taeho says that’s depending on you.

Detective is with his subordinate at a restaurant. Subordinate asks what the matter is? Detective says all fathers in the world have an animal instict, for me I've never even fed younghui fish, no matter how much I debone it, I still get scared that a bone might get stuck in her throat. I wasn't scared of knife wielding gangsters but a bone scared me when it came to younghui. The bone that gets stuck in her throat, I'll pull it out no matter what.

He's in younghui's room looking at her pictures from childhood till present.

Taeho is in his room writhing in pain and crying (me: oh no is he ill?). We see a flashback of him in prison, holding his stomach, crying and rolling around in pain.

The next day he's outside and says it's so unfair, the weather is so nice. He goes to the detective and says come somewhere with me. Detective looks at him warily and Taeho says no need to be scared, I'm not taking you to the police station.

They are driving and Taeho has to stop to vomit. Detective makes a call to his subordinate and asks him to continue to find something about Taeho. Taeho finishes vomiting and asks why am I getting car sick. Detective says let's just go home. Taeho says no need, we're almost there. Detective asks where are you taking me? Taeho looks at him and says where I grew up.

They walk around the neighborhood with Taeho looking sad, they see a swing and Taeho says I was 4 when I got on a swing for the first time , the man I called my father put me on that swing and pushed real hard, I thought I could reach the sky, he pushed me for ages then just abandoned me, he didn't even lie and say he'd come back for me but then he visited me in prison just once to remove my name from the family register because people were avoiding him for being related to me. My so called father who abandoned me came to see me after 20 years and that's the first thing he said to me. He looks at the detective with anger, pain and tears in his eyes and says that should have been you and your daughter. He walks away.

They get to an orphanage and the children are happy to see Taeho, he's with lots of gifts for them. Taeho walks around with the man in charge of the orphanage and says nothing much has changed

THE END LOL

Anyway taeho discovers that detective has been sending him money while he was in jail and he's angrier asking if detective thinks money can make up for the 7 years. Detective says he has also been living in pain and guilt for all those years. Younghui gets home and recognizes taeho apparently she later figured out that her dad framed him and she has also been living in grief but she's not willing to turn herself in cos she's living a good life and doesn't want it to end, she even attempts to frame taeho up for rape but detective stops her. They discover out that taeho is terminally ill and about to die, younghui is happy cos if he dies she can take her secret to the grave but dad feels guilty especially after realizing taeho is all alone in the world, his scummy dad died 3 years ago and even his friend sangjin is dead. Detective finally turns his daughter in. The end.

I can understand your reason. I keep saying that I am just grateful that my introduction to Kdramas was Crash Landing On You and Goblin. If I had started with an annoying/boring drama I don't think I would have continued. I would have been one of those that say Kdramas are not interesting.

Detective says he has a friend named lee taeho who went to prison for murder, I think he needs to be questioned again. Sangjin went to visit taeho in prison, that’s how close they were. I was hoping he could help our investigation. Mechanic says I’ve heard about taeho from sangjin, he was framed right? Detective asks and? Mechanic says I heard they found the real killer (me:are you sure this mechanic isn’t the sangjin guy) Detective looks nervous and asks who did they say the real killer is, did he mention any evidence or witness? Mechanic says I don’t remember clearly but he said the detective in charge of the case would know best and said he would get revenge on him.

Detective leaves the mechanic walking slowly and remembering his conversations with lee taeho since he came to his house. He calls taeho on the phone and asks him to meet him somewhere. Taeho says no problem. Lmao taeho is actually still stalking him and followed him all the way to the mechanic.
Detective is driving while taeho is in the passenger seat seriously playing a game on his phone. He asks the detective if he’s taking him somewhere nice cos they are going out of seoul. Detective says we are just going on a drive. As they are driving detective is staring at taeho intensely, a truck is coming towards them, detective notices it to late and tries to swerve but the car somersaults and… mtcheww it’s an imagination. A truck was coming towards them but detective was quick enough to dodge it safely. Detective says let’s go eat. They are walking through a forest and taeho asks how much longer do we have to go? Detective says just a little further. Taeho says im curious tho, what we ate earlier was that udon or just plain noodles? They were too thin to be udon and too thick to plain noodles, it’s a real mystery. The murderer is a mystery too. The detective stops shocked . Taeho continues is it a male or a female and how are they related to you, will they be very close to you? I wonder. He continues walking.
They get to a river. Taeho smiles and says where is the fishing site here? Detective says there was one long ago. Taeho laughs and says did you bring me here to kill me? Detective asks how did you find out, who else besides you knows, Kim sangjin, you told everything to kim sangjin, did he see something? Taeho laughs and says did you do some research? Detective shouts just answer my question! He grabs taeho by the collar and says just how much do you know? Taeho laughs and says of course I know everything, how much would you like me to know, why don’t you tell me? I’ve given you plenty of clues. Detective says are you by chance waiting for younghui to come home? It wasn’t her fault, it was an accident for sure. She ran away because she was scared.
Flashback to the day of the murder, the detective was among the people investigating the case. He found younghui’s phone in the scene and sees her sneaking into the club, apparently she was the girl that brushed past taeho in the first flashback. Detective hides younghui’s phone in his pocket. She gets to the scene obviously there to search for her phone. She’s shocked to see her dad. He asks what she’s doing there and she stammers nervously dad.. he cuts in saying I told you I’d be home early you don’t have to come check on me. She says erm.. I got admitted into the university, the result came out today. He says really, congratulations and hugs her, let’s go celebrate. They both look nervous cos of the secrets they are hiding. She gets home and scatters her room searching for her phone. Her dad comes to find her searching for it, she starts crying and is about to confess but her dad shows her the phone and says I found it in the car.
Back to the present, detective is pleading with taeho. He says she doesn’t know anything. I brought you into this, I started it all. Taeho looks at him with anger and pain and says so I found the right person, he pushes the detective into the water and shouts I’m going to kill you and your daughter. They start fighting in the river. They pretty much beat each other up but taeho being younger has the upper hand. He stops beating the detective and says no its to easy to kill you here. You started it so you’ll finish it. Detective asks what does that mean? Taeho walks away. Detective shouts after him crying Lee taeho what does that mean?
Younghui and her friend’s are still on vacation. The friend’s are congratulating her cos apparently she’s dating a lawyer who just got a job at a pretty big law firm. While drinking one of the friend’s suggest they go to a club and everyone is suddenly nervous. Another friend says don’t you know younghui doesn’t go to clubs, she has club allergy. The first friend asks why? Younghui says don’t worry, we can go, I think im ok now.
We see a flashback of the day of the murder, the guy that died was trying to sexually harass her so she pushes him away and he hit his head and died (me: if it was an accident in self defense why did the dad go through all that trouble and frame someone *sigh*).
Back to the present she runs out of the club cos she still remembers the incident vividly.
Detective and taeho are back home. Detective asks what do you mean by that, by me finishing it, what do you want from me? Taeho says I want you to report your own daughter.Detective says what? He holds taeho and says how can I do that to her? Taeho says I’ll kill her if you don’t report her. I have nothing to lose. She’s ruined my life so I feel really wronged. You make the choice, do you want to report her or kill her? Detective says what are you saying? Taeho says you make the choice, I don’t really care. Younghui’s life is in your hands. Detective kneels and grabs taeho’s leg, he says I’m sorry, forgive me taeho, no.. you don’t have to forgive me, just spare younghui please, I’ll do whatever you ask, I’ll die if you want me to, I’ll crawl if you want me to. Taeho laughs painfully and says such love for your child, you’re making me cry. Detective continues to beg desperately for younghui’s life. Taeho says if you want her to live report her. Detective stands up and grabs taeho by the throat saying that’s just telling her to die. Taeho removes his hands and says how dare you shout at me, say one more word and I’ll kill her. Detective says then just give me some time. Taeho says fine, I didn’t want it to end too soon anyway, you’re the one that suffers not me. Detective says but don’t do anything to younghui. Taeho says that’s depending on you.

I honestly had really big expectations for Cafe minamdang but I was let down sha. It's not that the drama is bad, it's good. I just really had huge expectations cos it's seo in guk, oh yeon seo, Kwak si yang and a sprinkle of Kwon soo hyun and Kang Mina. The teasers and promos seemed really fun and I read that the webtoon it was adapted from won best webtoon bla bla bla so I went into the drama expecting to love it. I didn't love it but at least I liked it and I'm hoping the drama gets to the stage where I love the life out of it. It's way better than doom at your service tho so that's already a win for sig and i
