btw Op can only be referring to tech positions. No one compares nursing to being an actual doctor. A med tech position, however, is comparable.

I am a Radiography, I will advise you to choose Radiography. As Radiography in Nigeria , I never looked for job , I got UK job in Nigeria. In UK both Radiography and Nurse get same salary on band 5.

In addition, a young Radiography graduate is earning between 200k-250k now. A Nurse in Nigeria can not get that.

It mainly depends on what you want: A qualification in radiography to employable state takes a minimum of 6yrs (NYSC exclusive) and if u desire further specialization, u would require additional 3 yrs. A good nursing degree takes 5 yrs and may just earn u a job whilst u learn on the job. Your back-up and needs should guide u. Forget what people call passion (ur passion can come as a side Hustle). In terms of initial pay, a radiographer earns more and have good negotiated packages especially in Nigeria, where our doctors are lazy to further into radiology and even the few who venture cant grasp with the evolving technological development/innovation in that field of study.
Head or Tail, both are lucrative and on a global demand.

Go for Radiography, you don't need to write professional exams before japa, just HCPC, which is every easy to obtain. My lil bro and cousin are in UK now, just barely 9 months after internship.

Underpayment is general in Nigerian job market.
I equally have doctors that are underpaid too.
Nursing entry salary is now CONHESS 9 which is same entry salary for Radiography..
The upto 150k homcare job is still there and the lucky one's are doing it as side hustle if they are opportune to get one.

I am currently an Advanced Practioner Ultrasonographer in the UK, Which is a specialty under Radiography, i used to be a Radiographer before specialising in Ultrasound, where i was sponsored by my current hospital for post graduate course in Ultrasound, which has elevated me to 2 steps higher banding(from band 5 to 7).
From my experience here the work load for nurses is very demanding, with limited opportunities to progress to band 6 and 7. A Radiographer work load is not as demanding and you can upgrade to a CT,MRI, PET scan Radiographer and Sonographer.

Did you specialize before leaving Nigeria or after leaving Nigeria?

First a nurse wud and will always work under the supervision of a doctor i.e extremely subservant to doctors while Radiographers work with mutual respect and in some cases gives directive to doctors who basically know little or nothing about medical imaging
Secondly nurse cannot build or supervise a personal hospital or clinical center without being monitored by doctor while Radiographers can have his/her personal diagnostic as well as therapeutic (treatment) center without directives from doctor
Thirdly
The esteem of Radiographers are uncompairable that they are referred to as Oracle of Modern Medicine and eagle eye of modern MEDICINE while nurses are merely reference as clinical Messengers.
Fourtly evolution of Radiography is not even at it peak yet birthed 1895 and it will keep evolving with technology giving inclusion to accommodate other medical practice as technology evolve.
Fiftly nurse can only treat menial illnesses like maleria and typhoid and they cant diagnose....while radiographers is involved in tratement of malignant illnesses like cancer, infertility etc and they can diagnose (i.e they do diagnostic and therapeutic)
Sixtly, very few radiographers in Nigeria less than 10000 which kept the profession naturally immune to job competition with approximately automatic employment opportunity before or after graduation.
Let me not forget to add that with Radiography you can diversify into industrial Radiography that works in airports, oil companies and refinaries, Oceanography,veterinary hospitals etc...not the case with nursing

1st Nursing doesn't work under supervision of Doctors. Nursing is a professional course on its own and has its own management.
2nd, who told you that nurses can't set up health clinics, nursing home or maternity home?
3rd for you to even say that it's only Malaria and typhoid that nurses treat show how shallow minded you are.
Am in 400L Nursing and I bet you can barely stand me in any basic medical courses.
Go and pick up medical surgical nursing textbook and glance through it then come back and tell me what you observed.

Radiography has a better starting salary but is quite a niche/specialist area, so you’re a bit more limited in terms of career prospects. It carries more prestige than nursing though because of the further learning needed
