Wasky101: I was lucky to get a 2002 red top C180 toks standard (owner bought and used for just few months without registering the car) for just about 1.2m last month for a client... Got a Volvo 2003 S60 toks for another client last week for just 1.1m car came in 2021... All by God grace... I just went through that article posted by itsrm now and it got me really worried because how many Nigerians can actually afford vehicles from 2013 upwards especially in terms of maintenance? Those into ehailing business what will be their fate? 1 Like |

Felicity001:It's the end of the road for the camry 02-06 and there likes, landing cost is close to 4m, plus sellers profit will take it a little above 4m. I understand the NCS policy and it should be applauded but it's always a case of the cart before the horse when it comes to policy implementation in Nigeria. I suppose local assembling plants and manufacturers should have been put in place and empowered to produce cars that will fill the void of 2m-4m cars no matter how basic the car is. This will drive the much needed industrialization. 4 Likes |

Felicity001: Yes, better if you buy here. You may be lucky to get an old stock or someone just selling off for one reason or the other. |

Wasky101:so true. |
Re: Mercedes Benz Thread by chukel(m): 1:42pm On Jul 01, 2022 |
Wasky101:no. You are wrong about Camry. The difference is about 500k. So landing cost will not be 4m. Difference for corolla is about 400k. The problem is with Lexus and Mercedes. Those ones na die. I cleared an 08 ml350 in March for 600. That same 08 is about 2.6m now. Difference of 2m. 1 Like |

chukel:How much was the clearing for 06 camry then and now? I am sure surface duty(total) for 2000-13 camry is almost 800k. U pay shipping charges a d all the undocumented charges almost another 200k. Give or take clearing agent will go home with 200k. I am guessing before it was around 550k |

Re: Mercedes Benz Thread by chukel(m): 12:46am On Jul 02, 2022 |
Wasky101:clearing 06 Camry then was 550k. Clearing 2000 to 2013 now is 960k. These amounts mentioned covers shipping charges and all other fees. These are the total clearing amount the importer pays the agent. |
Re: Mercedes Benz Thread by Wasky101: 9:38am On Jul 02, 2022 |
chukel:. I saw a list shared to clearing agents. Total surface for 2000-13 camry is 792k, shipping charges is not inclusive, agents profit is not inclusive, I dont see how final clearing can be 960k sha, but if u insist I might just be using your contact ooo. |
Re: Mercedes Benz Thread by Itsrm(m): 9:40am On Jul 02, 2022 |
Wasky101: Check again. Its 336,000. I also have it |
Re: Mercedes Benz Thread by chukel(m): 2:42pm On Jul 02, 2022 |
Wasky101:200k covers all those other charges. Shipping charge is about 86k. So total amount to clear that range of Camry is 960k. I know someone who cleared an 03 Camry last week. Nb: Total surface cannot be 729k. Impossible. It's around 300k 1 Like |
Re: Mercedes Benz Thread by Wasky101: 3:02pm On Jul 02, 2022 |
Itsrm:Yes sur its 336,000, X 2.36= 792k Everything you have on that list is multiplied by 2.36 to give u total surface |
Re: Mercedes Benz Thread by Felicity001(m): 3:30pm On Jul 02, 2022 |
Itsrm: Yeah, I have one 05 C200 kompressor going for 2.8m but full cash would be ready by next month else would've gone for it. Our leaders wants us to be the thieves that they're else how do they expect an ordinary citizen of this country to afford a 2017/2022 cars. Let's not even talk about the mechanic and parts aspect |
Re: Mercedes Benz Thread by Itsrm(m): 3:33pm On Jul 02, 2022 |
Wasky101: Yes plus about 200k for terminal and agent charges. Total is less than 1m |
Re: Mercedes Benz Thread by SeaTrade(m): 3:59pm On Jul 02, 2022 |
Felicity001:I think they're trying to build the local auto industry, not about them wanting to suffer citizens for nothing. Cheap, usable locally made cars will soon start springing up because of this new NCS drive to satisfy that demand. It doesn't make sense for Nigeria to be the dumping ground for old used cars around the world that doesn't produce any substantial productivity for our populace except directly to the owners of these cars, which doesn't benefit government and the society at large in anyway. It's a great move, however I only have problems about the way it was done,of not preinforming importers before hand. 1 Like 1 Share |

Re: Mercedes Benz Thread by SeaTrade(m): 9:12pm On Jul 02, 2022 |
Wasky101:The key in business is volume, that's what makes the difference. He can "make that little" according to you and clear 20 cars a month. 3 Likes |

SeaTrade: Yes I agree with every if your point but the question is, has any policy ever worked in this country? All policies are embendled to extort, steal and to destroy SMEs in other hands to enrich the ellit. I do not trust those people call politicians. See the Innoson (IVM) Vehicles Uber is using, have you booked a ride with them b4? No standard, no safety, car can't successfully do 80kmh on a free way, yet it's crazily expensive. B4 a policy of such kicks start you first have to creat an enabling environment for business to strive, steady electricity supply, good road, for both the steal, iron, timbers, Cu, and other materials needed for automobile production to strive but no, they won't instead they just ban importation, close borders and all that then import and local content prices sky rocket. Same way they ban imported rice, as local production helped us? No!.how cannot help when farmers can't even.gonto farm. Very annoying 3 Likes |

SeaTrade: And the month he won't see any to clear na serious owu |
Re: Mercedes Benz Thread by SeaTrade(m): 9:38am On Jul 03, 2022 |
Felicity001:Wetin concern auto industry with all these things you listing except electricity? You think auto companies produce all of their components or what? The only thing auto companies do is to design and form, the rest are outsourced. Not even mercedes benz. All they do is buy sheet of steel and press it to shape and buy plenty paint, most other components are given to other companies to do,like bosch doing electrical for Mercedes,etc.. We can still only import components and have a robust auto industry by reducing tarrifs of those components at the ports and some waivers. There's no such thing as enabling environments, people just see opportunities and strike. Innosson cars are expensive because they're brand new, most of the corolla that comes here are old enough to vote in this coming elections,so why should a brand new car underprice an old one? Do you know the cost of a brand new corolla?Up to N 25m for LE trim and you say innoson cars are expensive at 7m+ brand new?(the ones in that category) What you should be talking about is access to cheap, single digit credit to finance owners that want to buy local made and not supporting Nigeria to be a wasteland for cars that can't be given permits to run in the Western world. We refuse to be a dumping ground for old cars abeg,it's not good for our people. That's why many youths don't have jobs here today, too much tolerance for dumping. 9 Likes 4 Shares |
