Low sperm count is a health condition that occurs when the fluid (semen) you ejaculate during an orgasm contains fewer sperm than normal. We have what is called a low sperm count(oligospermia) and a complete absence of sperm(azoospermia). Your sperm count is considered lower than normal if you have fewer than 15 million sperm per milliliter of semen. Having a low sperm count decreases the odds that one of your sperm will fertilize your partner's egg, resulting in pregnancy. The degree of low sperm count and motility rate differs among individuals. It is always advisable to go for a test to know your actual state. Causes of Low sperm count The process of sperm production is complex. This requires normal functioning of the testicles (testes), hypothalamus, and pituitary glands — organs in your brain that produce hormones that trigger sperm production. Problems with any of these systems can affect sperm production. There are various factors responsible for low sperm count. Environmental Factor Sperm production or function can be affected by overexposure to certain environmental elements, including: 1. Overheating the testicles. High temperature can impair sperm production and function. Although studies are limited and inconclusive, frequent use of saunas or hot tubs might temporarily impair sperm count. Sitting for long periods, wearing tight clothing, or working on a laptop computer for long periods also might increase the temperature in your scrotum and slightly reduce sperm production. 2. Industrial chemicals. Long exposure to benzenes, toluene, xylene, herbicides, pesticides, organic solvents, lead, and painting materials might contribute to low sperm counts. 3. Heavy metal exposure. Exposure to lead or other heavy metals also can cause infertility. 4. Radiation or X-rays. Radiation exposure can reduce sperm production. It can take several years for sperm production to return to normal. Life Style and Health Factor 1. Drug use. Consuming anabolic steroids to stimulate muscle strength and growth can cause the testicles to shrink and sperm production to decrease. The use of illicit drugs such as cocaine or marijuana might reduce the number and quality of your sperm as well. 2. Alcohol use. Drinking alcohol can lower testosterone levels and cause decreased sperm production. 3. Tobacco smoking. Men who smoke might have a lower sperm count than those who don't smoke. 4. Depression. Being depressed may negatively affect sperm concentration. 5. Emotional stress. Severe or prolonged emotional stress, including stress about fertility, might interfere with the hormones needed to produce sperm. 6. Weight. Obesity can affect fertility in several ways, including directly impacting sperm and causing hormone changes that reduce male fertility. 7. Occupation. Certain occupations might be linked with a risk of infertility, including welding, or those associated with prolonged sitting, such as truck driving. However, the data to support these associations is inconsistent. Medical Causes 1. Hormone lmbalances. The hypothalamus, pituitary, and testicles produce hormones that are necessary to create sperm. Alterations in these hormones, as well as from other systems such as the thyroid and adrenal gland, may impair sperm production. 2. Ejaculation problems. Retrograde ejaculation occurs when semen enters the bladder during orgasm instead of emerging out of the tip of the penis. Various health conditions can cause retrograde ejaculation or lack of ejaculation, including diabetes, spinal injuries, and surgery of the bladder, prostate, or urethra. 3. Varicocele. A varicocele (VAR-ih-koe-seel) is a swelling of the veins that drain the testicle. It's the most common reversible cause of male infertility. Although the exact reason that varicoceles cause infertility is unknown, it might be related to abnormal testicular temperature regulation. Varicoceles result in reduced quality of the sperm. 4. Infection. Some infections can interfere with sperm production or sperm health or can cause scarring that blocks the passage of sperm. These include inflammation of the epididymis (epididymitis) or testicles (orchitis) and some sexually transmitted infections, including gonorrhea or HIV. Prevention To protect against infertility, avoid known factors that can affect sperm count and quality. For example: Don't smoke. Limit or abstain from alcohol. Do not take illicit drugs. Talk to your doctor about medications that can affect sperm count. Maintain a healthy weight. Avoid heat. Manage stress. Avoid exposure to pesticides, heavy metals, and other toxins Symptoms i. One major sign is difficulty in conceiving after active sex for over a year. ii. Pain, swelling, or a lump in the testicle area Problems with sexual function — for example, low sex drive or difficulty maintaining an erection (erectile dysfunction) iii. Blake755: We have different sexual disorders. It could be he is suffering from 1. Retarded ejaculation; This is a situation in which orgasm is delayed so long that it satisfied neither partner. The man does not release sperm on time despite prolonged arousal. 2. Retrograde ejaculation: This is a situation the sperm moves backwards into the urinary bladder instead of passing through the urethral and out of his organ. It is better to visit the doctor to run some tests if the condition persists. And secondly, consistently taking drugs to enhance sexual performance have an advanced effect on the reproductive organ in the long run. |

What is the remedy for Low sperm count? Many men have low sperm count without knowing. Some have not being able to impregnate a woman. Some after a child they start having this problem. Infertility is not a women's problem alone. But men are not excepted. It is high time men make their health a priority. Low sperm count can occur if the hormones and organs responsible for producing sperm are not functioning properly. The cells of the reproductive organs are weak or dead. This is a result of the organs not getting the necessary nutrients for organs to produce the right quantity & quality of new cells for optimal functions. Low sperm count/motility is bound to occur and even erectile dysfunction (inability of the penis to get an erection). Recommended products for this ailment are VITOLIZE FOR MEN & ROYAL GELLY. Natural and quality food supplements made especially for men. These products help to correct this defect by providing all the necessary nutrients needed by these organs, especially the pituitary and prostate glands. You will get a solution to this ailment when taking consistently for 3months.
