Good day gurus in the house,

I need your guidance to take a decision on my intention to study in Canada. I obtained my B.SC in Computer Science in 2015 and i have been working till date. I am looking at a two different study options (Diploma and Masters Courses) and their visa success viability which is , kindly enlighten me on the following concerns:

1. College Course in IT (Sheridan College)- I will have to source for the tuition and there is no option of study loan for this.
2. Masters in Computer Engineering (University of Manitoba)- There is loan option to finance tuition and other expense but the assurance of getting a visa due to how to show convincing strong home ties since international study loan will be involved.
3. I don't have an immediate family member sponsor, i only have someone who bears different name from my surname who has properties and fund to do it.
4. If i want to be self sponsored how much do i need as proof of fund and what are the required documents to use. I am married with two kids.

Your advice will be highly appreciated.

Regards.

My question is, what did you graduate with in your BSC. Your chance of getting an admission for masters is dependent on what you graduated with. Masters courses are very much expensive than PGDs therefore if you dont have the funds for a masters please look towards the PGD.

1) I dont think Sheridan has that option.

2) University of Manitoba offer student loans for international students?? Be sure o. I will recommend you visit Mpower financing if you are looking for student loans but if you get it, you must show your bank statement for living expense and also try paying part of your fees. Nobody here can 100% assure you a visa. What we do here is to give the best advice as it applies per person to increase their chances of visa approval. 100m bank balance does not mean visa is assured.

3) I dont believe this will fly. You are expected to show that your sponsor is related to you with sufficient evidence to back it up. I will advice you tell the person to fund your brother or sister with the amount you need and your sibling sends the money to you. Its easier to explain and proof of relation with sibling can be proven with ease.

4) If you are self-sponsored and going alone, you are expected to show you have money for your 1st year tuition and additional $10,000cad living expenses. if you are going with your family, you are expected to show bank balance covering yourself and additional $5000cad per accompanying dependant.

Gurus in the house, please help answer how to treat this flight ticket showing itinerary in the attached photo for my spouse that is accompanying me. We are applying for Spousal Open Work Permit (SOWP) for him.

We know he will not be coming back to Nigeria immediately but his letter of employment in Nigeria indicates he is entitled to 20 working days of annual leave.

Our fear now is that if we book a return ticket of 20 working days interval for him they may give him give him SOWP of just 20 days.

Please, what is the best thing to do here? We don't want to make a mistake please.

Hello house and greetings to all the gurus, I am a silent member and I joined nairaland sometime around November/ December 2021 after I received my acceptance letter from NBCC. I read through thread 18,19, 20… and I leant so many things. I contacted Makanoglabal on the thread who assisted me with an outstanding SOP and vital information that assisted me in my application. He encouraged me even when I thought it can’t be possible. He was always ready to answer my numerous questions even those that are absurd. I just want to say thank you for your support and help throughout my application journey. Words cannot express how grateful I am. I also want to appreciate the house for all its wonderful and constructive contributions. WHAT GOD CAN NOT DO DOES NOT EXIST

I submitted my passport through Courier instead of submitting to Visa Application Centre Lekki they sent to Deputy high commission at Victoria Island Lagos. Please is this normal cuz I have not been updated since Last week.

Which address did you give to the courier company. Passports are supposed to be submitted to VFS. VFS then forward to the embassy to affix the counterfoil(Visa). The courier submitting directly to the high commission is not normal. You have to retrieve the passport and channel appropriately.

It is perfectly normal. That is what folks on NL do, they use DHL to send their passports to Abuja or Lagos VFS.

It is normal, The thing is that your passport was sent to Lagos VFS which would take 15 working days I guess. If only you sent it to Abuja VFS which takes 5-7 working days. Don't worry you will be updated soon.

Submitting directly to the high commission is NOT NORMAL, it has to go to VFS. It is VFS that send to high commission

The bolded doesnt work anymore. Your application will not be processed under 20days.
You can always submit your application and attach the medical slip given to you along with it.

Go ahead and submit, it doesnt affect your application in anyway.

You can do one better

Why not apply for a gcms note to know whats delaying your application as long as you know your uci and application numbers.

It is not normal.

How can you by-pass VAC that has your biometrics information and send it straight to the visa office.

The visa office will not attend to it without the biometrics details.

The applicant should have asked questions before sending his/her passport to the visa office.

If I retrieve the passport back can I submit to Abuja VFS since Abuja is faster than Lagos in process, But I had my biometrics at Lagos VFS. Does it have any implication?
