In civilized countries, the rate at which your students pass out and graduate is testament to how great and efficient you are as a lecturer and so a professor in harvard would say I AM A GREAT LECTURER BECAUSE ALL MY STUDENTS PASSED AND GRADUATED.

This is the bragging rights of any professor in civilized countries.

Meanwhile this failure of a professor in Nigeria bragging right is how many students fail his class and drop out of the department and get kicked out of the university. This is the bragging right of this failure who is too brain dead to understand that if most of your students are failing and being kicked out of the university it is a testament of how bad of a lecturer you are.

I hereby henceforth submit that all Nigerian lecturers should be put on a salary of 200 thousand a month because that is what they deserve. They dont deserve more than that until they can make sure that all their students graduate and know what they are doing after they graduate.

hmm in that case, nobody go dey graduste be that, and even if you do, na 3rd class go full your set.

If education didn't fail this op, he would have realized that lecturers are not always the same.

That you had sadistic lecturers who failed you severally does not mean every lecturer is the same way.

Most of my own lecturers are great people and I remember having an A in 6 of the 7 courses of a certain lecturer in a first generation federal Uni o.

If the op becomes a president, he would be worse than Buhari because according to him, Nigerian lecturers are not good. May we not have someone with his kind of mindset becoming our president.

Not everyone deserves to speak publicly just as this op

Imagine reasoning, I still have lecturers we ball together even after years of leaving the school

From his write up you can deduce the kind of student he would be that's If he's ever a student sef

Lectures actually deserve nothing less ₦1,000,000 but they must commercialise their research and be useful for the society not just teach practicals and keep a dusty archive of people's projects and thesis useless in their office

Nigerian universities are goldmine of research that can lead to millions of dollars in startup grants

OP people like you are the reason why this country is not progressive.
Instead of you to tackle issues factually, you are attacking personality sentimentally.
For your information everyone is not the same. Every Prof is not the same.
Talk to your stupid politicians who collect huge grants and salary without doing shingbai for your constituency! They are the ones that should be collecting 50k per month not academicians. If you think it is easy go and acquire a PhD.
If your senators are collecting say N100k per month as salary, they will be forced to reform the economy of this country.

I agree with you. Most of them are idiotic, frustrated, empty-headed sadistic fools like leodeking that only see pleasure in frustrating their students.

After displaying their uselessness for all to see, they then turn around to beg FG to increase their pay. grin

I only take pity on the good ones but they're so few to the point that they don't even count. And at the end of the day, one good to you might be a complete asshole to another for no just cause.

OP, The thing is that , in the western world, the more students pass your course, the more you get high rating as a lecturer or professor , that's why they always brag about students passing their courses.
they know it will boost their rating as a lecturer and you might be eligible for higher pay .

The rate of failure is not the fault of the Professors, rather it is a pointer to the quality of our educational system. Atleast 80% of undergrads have no business there. What do you expect? Haven't you seen videos of interviews conducted by some skit make? You'd weep for Nigeria.

And you will willingly sit in class to be lectured by a person earning fractions of what is normal or send your ward to such an institution as a parent. And it hasn't occurred to you that the vicious cycle will soon see lecturers earning N1,000 a month as diminishing returns set in.

You certainly smack of one who has not realised the true value of education and the critical importance of those who transmit it.
I certainly hope you are not let anywhere near positions of authority for the sake of the generations coming. For the present has been totally wasted and we will just brace for the backlash in this country in years, perhaps decades to come.

Estimate what your selfish leaders expend on the education of their wards abroad and take down this senseless post.... and then get educated.

There are still great lecturers around bro.

Using a small subset of lecturers to draw conclusions is not wise.

I had a professor who was my supervisor during my final year project. If I had another chance to have a supervisor, it would be him.

Not all of them fall into your description. If you draw conclusions from a subset to decide the fate of many, then you wouldn't do any better as a leader.

You people just throw baseless opinions around sinply for the sake that everyone is entitled to one. Whereas, in actuality, you don't have always to type or talk.

Don't make it look like Nigerian lecturers don't give students A in your department, when they put in efforts deserving of it.

Don't make it look like all students or you did well enough to warrant A's or B's yet you were denied because lecturer hates you all.

If a lecturer marks you down, follow the guideline, call relevant attention and get rewarded with money and meritocracy.

Don't come here to kvetch spitefully about your lecturers while you actually run around them in reality begging for marks because you failed to work hard enough to attain exam success.

Some of these lecturers left their lecturing jobs overseas to come contribute back home, while are lot are being fetched off for your country's ineptitude.

If it irks you so much, go through all it takes to become a lecturer, get employed as one in a federal school, and start dishing 'A's' and 'B's' for every Shade and Emeka, for the virtue of simply being a student. As if it's not the same 'worthy education, institution, and lecturer relationship' standard that births and drives first and second countries development dynamism.

Gobbledygook!

Probably a plebeian who knows nothing abouth shaping lives and what core academic successes are for failure of trying, and finding his/her tutors to dump the responsibility of the failure on.

most of the lecturers are sadist, typical nigerians, once they have little authority, dey tend to use overly

The one thing I could pick out from this rubbish and the comments so far is that lecturers fail the students and that most likely the failure of students is not likely to be their efforts or non of it.

If according to the OP lecturers in advanced countries teach their students well, the students pass well and the lecturers have that as a bragging right, does it now make sense to criticize the private universities where students are taught well by dedicated lecturers and hence have right pass rate?

I am not surprised. An average Nigerian has everybody to blame for their woes except themselves. Even innocent '" village people" are never spared.

Nigerian professor should earn less than N200k but you that can barely define the course you studied should earn N1m if you find yourself in NNPC or DPR.

Buhari is right after all. Lazy Nigerian youths.
