Sri Lanka Uprising Holds Lessons For Nigeria -Punch Editorial by iwaeda: 8:08am On Jul 22, 2022 |
THE election on Wednesday of Ranil Wickremesinghe as the President of Sri Lanka offers scant hope of dousing the five-month-old unrest rocking the country or ending the economic crisis that triggered them. Opposed to the veteran political operator and six-time prime minister, the protesters who have already put a prime minister and a president to flight, have vowed to fight on until the entire political class is evicted. ‘People power’ is colliding with formidable state institutions and accompanying instruments of coercion. The unfolding events hold valuable lessons for Nigeria. https://punchng.com/sri-lanka-uprising-holds-lessons-for-nigeria/ 26 Likes 3 Shares

Nigerians are not ready to do such.... howbeit it's better to come out enmass to vote out both APC and PDP. The bugging question always is what has APC done as a party(I was a party member though slightly active) that gives them the audacious confidence to keep campaigns? In sane climes their campaigns and campaigners will be lynched or attacked by angry citizens anywhere they are seen doing such satanic campaigns. Get your PVC ready pleeeaaase... THE LABOUR OF OUR HEROES PAST SHALL NOT BE IN VAIN!.... Pinned emphasis on the word Labour I'm sure the word is gradually playing a role on the political party called Labour Party We need vote in all leadership positions young visionary leaders come next year and most importantly vote out both APC & PDP alike come 2023 Presidential Election....let's vote wisely. CyberHustle:You lack the ability to read and comprehend ...try learn it. POC Nigeria has no hall of Fame for heroes like Dora , Sarah , Yard Adua , e.t.c buhari and those persons in your head are never considered hereos by well meaning Nigerians....i won't dignify you with a response anymore. @Seniorwriter 30 Likes 2 Shares |

Expectedly It should serve as lessons to the country political leaders but unfortunately, they are beyond caring and only after corrupt enrichments at the detriment of the hoi polloi 1 Like 1 Share |

Such uprising cannot happen in Nigeria, cos whoever is in power his tribesmen would protect him regardless of how useless he's performing. As Buhari is in power do you think the north would support any uprising that would chase him out of office? Never, they'll immediately turn it to a tribal affair, likewise Igbo and yourbas, no body would speak against his tribesman. See ordinary end SARS protest of 2020, they were already turning it to an Igbo/yourba affair in Lagos. I don't see such happening Nigeria. 13 Likes 5 Shares |

there's no lesson to be learned, the only reason the people had upper hand were because sei Lanka can't afford to pay military if not they would have kept their people in check,it's very hard to topple and government as for Nigerians we are two docile ,even if dey push to the wall and press us to it , we won't react. 3 Likes |
