I have come across this attitude of "A white man committed the same crime I committed and got away with it so why should I be prosecuted" many times and still don't get it.

I can bet that there may be other white doctors who may have attended to the Ekweremadus in the process, but if by chance there is a Nigerian amongst them (even if he has lived and practiced in the UK all his life), they will find a way to single him out and rope him into the accusation. I understand what you are saying and you made some good points but I don’t believe this is a case of racism. Don’t forget that the victim is also a Nigerian… also the police must have solid evidence against the prisoners as someone of Ekweremadu’s status could sue them heavily if these charges don’t stick.
I checked for this Obinna Obeta’s name on the GMC (Uk Doc registry) and his name is not there so I wonder if he really is a Doctor or just not registered in the UK.
