He left APGA due to 2 reasons.
1. Soo much internal wrangling within the party. Just like wike is threatening to do now.

2. He was literally dragged to the PDP. Since his days as governor, he's been wooed there.

The word courageous comes from his decision to leave the PDP and join an unknown party. A party he's been sponsoring himself. You yourself have just said that you would be voting the labor party next year. If not for Obi, would you be voting labor party next year??

Part of obi's appeal is the people's yearning to shift away from the evil duopoly of APC PDP axis. People want something fresh, something new and Obi decided to use himself as a vehicle for change. You've heard people constantly say Obi is not running for the presidency, the youths are running through him.

Is he the one coordinating all these rallies and campaign paraphernalia? Is he not the one urging his followers to tamp down their aggression and his own followers are telling him no?
This movement is bigger than him, that shows you that his decision to leave was indeed courageous. He left a powerful behemoth of a party where he had a chance to be more successful either nationally or at least regionally to move to an unknown party. That is courageous enough.

If Obi was not there, I would have voted Atiku. My campaign point is that parties that failed should be changed. Anybody but APC is my goal.

Obi left PDP because he was hinted that Atiku won't pick him, and maybe he had an idea of the New electoral law that may not let him be vice if Atiku chooses him.

If Obi was passionate about Nigeria, and if he had such integrity, he would have gone to Labour even before now. He left barely few days to the PDP and APC primaries

Let's just agree that we welcome this third force.

He's almost the same as them. No difference

Nigeria needs someone that has passed test of times, that has handled people and positions..

That has impacted in the lives of people around him and places he managed..

Compare Lagos and anambara

Compare people that is/has been around tinubu and people that is/has been around obi

If they give you a lifetime opportunity, who would you want to be under? Who would benefit you much better between the 2?

Honestly if I'm told to serve either obi or tinubu for 4 years, I'll choose to serve tinubu because I know he'd mentor me and brought me up in all ramifications..

Of course criminals attract each other. This one decided to support Tinubu the day he found out Tinubu was a drug baron. The escoBAT of our time. While he himself goes around defrauding innocent americans and ripping of their hard-earned money.
Such a shameless criminal.

From his wife in the Senate, to his stooge as VP, to the minister of darkness and the likes. Are all these men not the class of men that have raped Nigeria in the last 8 years? One thing I like jagaban is his ruggedity and master plan strategy..

He's always got his position on lock..

Obj couldn't sway him

Gej couldn't bulky him with military in 2014/15 election

Buhari couldn't stand his way

If this man can handle Nigeria and puts it on lock.. I think I will be happy

The Obi's fanatic and cult-like supporters won't shut every dissenting voice or hold this country to ramson solely because Peter Obi is vying for the office of the presidency.

So we should respect our "elders" even if these elders are 70 year old thief's that have looted and wasted the destinies of an entire generation??

We should be slavish to an elite class that have kept our regions and states in penury for donkey years?

How do you not understand that Peter Obi supporters are a pan Nigerian group of young people who are desperately crying for a new Nigeria and a new way of doing things in our politics.
.how do you not see that we don't want politicians using state funds to run campaigns that they now use their times in office recouping that money and stealing our money?

How can you not see that Obi supporters simply desire the very best of leadership. Not old recycled men.

After Barth resigned, the power ministry was in shambles already before APC came on board.

https://www.thecable.ng/senate-passes-electricity-bill-to-address-power-sector-challenges

The senate has passed the electricity bill 2022 that would allow states to generate and distribute power as well as solve the sector’s challenges.

The bill was passed on Wednesday, after the consideration of a report by the senate committee on power.

Gabriel Suswam, chairman of the committee, said the bill sought to provide an ideal legal and institutional framework to leverage the modest gains of the privatisation phase of the electric power sector in Nigeria.

Suswam said that it would minimise aggregate value chain losses in the sector when signed into law.

He also said there is no need for anyone or firm generating electricity below one megawatt to get a licence, adding that the new law would allow states or individuals with capacities to generate their power.

“Since electricity is on the concurrent list in the constitution, the bill has allowed state governments to license people who intend to operate mini-grids within the states,” he said.

According to the lawmaker, the piece of legislation will reinvigorate the institutional framework for the reform of the Nigerian Electricity Supply Industry (NESI) initiated and implemented by the federal government.

Suswam also disclosed that the provisions of the bill sought to promote policies and regulatory measures that would ensure the expansion of power transmission networks in Nigeria to address any imbalance in the existing transmission infrastructure

the real issue with Power in Nigeria is legislation.

the above bill should have been passed years ago.

without this, there is not that much that could be done.

i will spell it out as simply as a i can

Power is generation, transmission and distribution

we have private gencos, transmission managed by FG, and discos

an analogy is the generator in your house as generation
the cable to your distribution board from the gen as transmission
and your distribution board as distribution

the gencos are fine and generating more power than they can sell

tranmission infrastructure dates back to the 60s and upgrading is very slow. especially because it is very expensive. my first job out of uni was in a company working on transmission line protection. we were upgrading their relays from electromechanical to electronic. each relay was 5 million naira . and relays had to be installed in every nepa transmission station. thats was a world bank funded project if i recall

imagine if you will an old, cut and joined, cable from your generator to your DB. constantly failing, constantly being patched. that is our transmission network. which is always having system collape

then the discos, are the part of power everyone knows. they are the ones who power you. thsi has traditionally been teh most corrupt part of power, as they have no competition and they intreface directly with customers

by law, once your are generating above 2mw [if i recall] you have to inject it into the national grid. this si like saying once you have a generator where you live, once you have a gen over 10kva, you must share your power with everybody.

this has severly hampered local power generation. i could say i want to set up a power plant in lagos - but i would have to inject my power into the national grid - the 60 year old transmission infrastructure that is always crashing.

with this law, you can now connect your gen directly to your db,

without thsi law, there is little fashola could have done

technical professionals know when politicians are just talking. Bola ige said the same thing
which is why engineers were just laughing at obis egypt photo op. good enough for laymen - but obvious BS

but the blame for power REALLY is on PDP because, after bola ige failed, obj actually studied the situation, and built several power plants. however the plants needed transformers to evacuate the power, so obj ordered injection transformers.

but they could not be instated during his term. they have been abandoned at the ports all this time, and are now probably rotted.

this is where all the shouting about obj and x billion comes from.

neither yardua, nor gej saw fit to finish what obj had started. they simply abandoned it.

now that anyone can generate power, we will start to see local gencos come on line. EKEDP, IKEDC will not have to rely on allocation from national grid.

effectively, the sector has been liberalised.

however, it will still need investors with deep pockets as returns on power investment can take decades

What you said is true.

But then, the onus lies on the government to rehabilitate the TransCo. You as an entry level staff knew the problem, so why should a Minister not know?

That is why I am just looking at Obi as he is running his mouth. When e reach there now, we go hear say Buhari scatter Nigeria kpata kpata, so him need 16 years

The New Bill is quite okay, and also an easy way out for the FG. A very welcome development for everybody.

this is why this bill may be a real game changer. i think Fashola was trying to push for it in his first term. the bill allows you to bypass the dilapidated transmission infrastructure and supply power to the DISCO directly. but the whole first term was spent fighting bukola saraki the usurper and his gang

Lagos, Incidentally already has at least one such power station in marina.

in 2002, a long distance protection relay was N5 million. there were nepa transmission stations in every state. some states have two or three. there are also power stations [kainji, jebba, egbin] . we were in kainji in late 2003 and i think we installed three, not sure anymore. i am saying there may have been over a hundred to install.

this is only one single component in a very complicated and intricate system . those cables you see on transmission towers are gigantic. rehabilitating this would take billions.

one of the biggest problems with anything govt is inertia. you talked about it when you discussed civil servants. NEPA was more of the same. go in collect your salary, collect your promotion every three years - do absolutely nothing. most of the time when we came into a station to work, was the most action those engineers had seen in years. now take this attitude and carry it all the way to the top. no one is under any real pressure to improve.

we were a private company and the boss had worked in the oyibo companies that put up the tranmission lines in the 80s. the man had been an engineer in private sector all his life. so we worked with drive - even though na one man biz with one man biz wahala.

there is a story of how barth nnaji went to a station and some equipment was offline. the story was the manual is in chinese. this had been the story for years. and the man just touched a few switches here and there and put it on.

the attitude of your guy who came up in govt paraststal is find an excuse and call it a day. of course that is only one part of the problem - the other is a new admin can fk whatever the previous one did. so investors are also wary.

you will be suprised, if the niger bridge is not finished before buharii ends his term and obi wins - it may be abandoned for a project with obis name on it. No be so we dey do?

there is a story of how barth nnaji went to a station and some equipment was offline. the story was the manual is in chinese. this had been the story for years. and the man just touched a few switches here and there and put it on.

the attitude of your guy who came up in govt paraststal is find an excuse and call it a day. of course that is only one part of the problem - the other is a new admin can fk whatever the previous one did. so investors are also wary.

you will be suprised, if the niger bridge is not finished before buharii ends his term and obi wins - it may be abandoned for a project with obis name on it. No be so we dey do?

Yes, Lagos state has one of such

My cousin attends King's college, and they always have power (his guardian said). I think it's because they are the next compound after the Court of Appeal

So with this new bill, what's the fate of existing Discos?

to reiterate

Power is
generation
transmission
distribution

what has been happening is that power transmission has been centralized basically like police or military

now ekedp does not have to get power from national grid. they can get power from anywhere. from lagos state, from Izzou Power co, who can be within a 20km radius.

the people who may lose are the gencos because now there will be competition to supply the discos.

at the barest minium, it will reduce demand on our transmission infrastructure, which may now become a supplier of civil service states that cannot get local power stations built.

Barth Nnaji can also start to hammer, as i think he also has a power station in enugu.

Maybe I'm thinking in another direction

But, we have both identified the Transcos as the major problem.

So with the new bill, anybody generating, has to worry about transmission

And if I can generate and transmit, why don't I just distribute myself?

Can you tell us more about these companies Peter obi managed?

And what he actually did in those companies?

Did he actually increase their bottom line? What was his legacy?

People are comparing Peter obi to bill Gates, so can we assume Peter obi built a billion dollar company from nothing?

Next International Nigeria limited has no Internet website. First hit is a clothing store.

Obi in thjs video said he lives in Nigeria and doesn't need to buy house in America cos its only costs him $200 to get there.

Americans should live in Nigeria, Obi said. Nigerians should live in Nigeria. Foreigners don't buy house in Nigeria. Why should nigeriams buy house Abroad

Same Obi is in another video talking about how he bought his house in London back in 1996.

He probably use 200 dollars to buy flight ticket there and purchased the property in cowries.

Scam
