Peter Obi choosing to contest in LP does not mean he wouldn't have preferred to have been PDPs candidate. Of course, the PDP is the bigger party, the party with established structures and the party that would have given him the easiest path to victory in the general elections.

He didn't believe in himself two days to the elections, he believed in himself enough before then, and backed that belief with #40 million.

Let's assume he won the PDP ticket.

Who and who would he work with?

These same corrupt people we are slandering?

This isn't different from what I said sha...his family has a business incorporated in the UK, they can't be conducting their business that's at least 25 years old from hotels, it would stop making economic sense then, and that was the idea behind his thinking, the economics of owning a property in a country you barely live in or have business in.

If you haven't watched the video, then I advise you to go and watch the video and stop clutching at straws.

The man literally said, if you don't live (not run business) abroad as a Nigerian, you have no business buying property abroad.

Your argument about economic model doesn't even make sense.
1. London property prices are propped up by investments portfolios of thousands of empty properties owned by foreign investors, most of whom have never even physically seen their investments.

2. Why do you have to buy a house in London to run a business there? How can paying periodic hotel bill be less economicslly viable to running a business than buying a house? Is it everybody that runs business in London that owns a house? cheesy
Re: EPL Chatroom - All Discussions by Theflint1(m): 4:21pm On Aug 10, 2022
Errm...he didn't contest in the PDP's primaries, so technically he contested one primary and him being picked as Atiku's VP and contesting the primaries of the elections personally are two different things. Besides, the way the primaries were conducted in 2018 was different from how it was conducted in 2022, it's possible things got worse, so the man had to check out. He wasn't the only party member that left the PDP in 2022 because of how the primaries were being conducted.

There's no way to tell the true reason he left but by leaving, he took a calculated risk which seems to be paying off.
nihilistjnr:

He's not comfortable with the way primaries were being conducted, but has previously contested as Atikus VP

He's not desperate to be president but contested two primaries in two different parties in the space of around 2 months, after previously making a run for VP on the Atiku ticket.

The only logical explanation for this behaviour is that Peter Obi is an altruistic saint from heaven, who was physically blind during the last elections, and only received healing a few months ago.

Yes he didn't contest Primaries under Atiku.

He wasn't a high ranking PDP member so he didn't know what was going on in tbe party at the time.

Atiku just came to Onitsha and gave Obi VP ticket because nobody else in the party wanted it.

Atiku himself, who has made made attempts at Aso rock every general election since the early 90s, only started throwing money around to buy delegates in 2022.

Thats why I said Obi must have received his healing this year.

I don't have specifics on how long he stayed in the UK and I understand if you have an issue with the economics of buying or not buying a property where you're running a business but I'm sure if he or his family needed to stay a stretch of 2-3 years like you'd expect for someone starting a business in a new location, it's not completely silly to buy a property in that place. I think his son did University in the UK too and works there, so you might understand why he'd have chosen to buy a property there.

Again nothing you're saying here really makes sense.

At the time when this man said what he said, he was a multi-property owner in the UK.

He said, he has been to several countries and was asked to buy houses there by people. The reason he gave for not buying is that he belongs in Onitsha and that's where he lives.

This is another video of Obi saying again that the only place he has a house officially is Onitsha, and if you see any other house for him, even in Lagos or Abuja, we should confiscate it

To be fair he has no property in Lagos or Abuja so yea...in the video he said "I don't live in America, I have nothing (business?) to do in America", so it's likely he doesn't have any serious business interest in Lagos, Abuja or America and that's why there's no property to his name there.

The property he has in London was purchased since 1996, and for 570K pounds...this property talk we've been having goes to show for how long the man has been doing business successfully, way before politics.

I don't think Peter Obi has denied owning properties in London though, so I think the context of why he said what he said matters more.

Wike is angry with Atiku because he believes power should shift to the South.

Wike never wanted any VP slot. All he was fighting for is that the ticket should be zoned to the South.

That's his annoyance
Re: EPL Chatroom - All Discussions by Emmynator(m): 5:06pm On Aug 10, 2022
If you believe that a politician who spent 7 years in PDP and was picked as vp under the same party, is a Saint, then that's a new level of gullibility.
Obi was not privy to the corrupt conditions that made him vice president indeed, he was not in support of his principal's antic during the previous election. Yimu. He has never lost his Sainthood, and those who move to LP are accorded the same grace. cheesy
Don j said Atiku picked him because he saw his competency and because he wanted to whitewash his corruption ridden image, ask him the same reasons can be attached to Atiku picking Okowa, and he will definitely stutter.
I still wonder how people would believe a politician up to this level, maybe it's cause Nigeria's problems are so grievous that we need a Saint to give us hope, even if it's a fake one.

Stop lying

Peter Obi in the original video said that he has been to several countries, including USA, and SA and everytime he is invited to buy property there, he refuses because he doesn't live there.

He then added that it only costs him $200 to travel to USA from Nigeria, so he doesn't need to live in Yankee. The small applause he was recieving stopped at that point.

Peter Obi, a former chairman of Fidelity Bank with headquarters in Lagos, is on stage saying he doesn't have any other house anywhere in the world including Lagos.

Flint1, what is the business that Obi owns in London that is causing you to theorise the reason for his purchase? grin

Somebody lied severally ON STAGE that he has only one house in Onitsha. Obi did not declare his overseas assets when contesting for Government
in accordance with the law. Pandora leaks had to expose him.

You are now presenting an obviously leaked private video of Obi admitting he owns property in London, filmed in the back of a taxi as proof that what? Bruv that video was another exposé grin grin grin

The only way we find things out about obi is when he is exposed, either by the press, or through leaks, or when he lies severally in public.

Lol...the context of the speech was owing a property, him saying it only costs him $200 to come and go was in reference to what it would cost him to lodge there. When he can spend $200 on hotel bills, why then spend hundreds of thousands purchasing a property there. Follow the context of the speech. Like I said before, most of these things have a certain nuance to it, I admit, Peter Obi does need to make the things he says more explicit to avoid confusion.

The man was very explicit.

He said it costs him 200 dollars to come and go

It's not his fault that you're struggling to rationalise what he said and have to insert your own words into his mouth.

He said he did not buy house Abroad because he's from Onitsha. Flint1 inserted UK based business and his son that did masters abroad. Obi never mentioned UK business or Obi jnr.

The man said it costs him 200 dollars to visit US and return to Nigeria. Flint1 started talking about hotel bill. Obi never mentioned hotel bill or lodging. (That's not even considering what type of 'lodging' cost $200 grin)

If you have to insert a whole bunch of things Obi never said into his speeches before it makes sense to you, fear not. Your challenge actually has a name.

2 words

Cognitive.

Dissonance.
