He said its both the coils thats damaged,which is the avr coil and the other coil.. and capacitor and you are right my guts teling me not all is bad..cos he brought a buyer and the buyer is insisting on buying the coil, a coil they saying is burnt.. i will take your advice and use another engineer for alternative advice..but i will appreciate any more advice.. thanks

There is nothing like capacitor in 3.5kva ...it uses AVR ..

Its a 2.5kva , the engineer said both the coils are damaged.. and he will change both for 40k..he later brought a buyer who said he can buy the gen for 10k.. i said no thanks i would rather repair and keep using.. reason for wanting to sell is cos i have three gens, 2big and 1small.. but i would rather repair than sell it cheap cos of the ruggedity and originality of the gen,it doesnt make noise, never gives trouble, thats why i brought the issue on here,cos its only this one engineer thats been servicing it..
Note- the gen starts with just one pull, but it isnt bringing current,hence the engineer's verdict that both of the coils is damaged..

Get another engineer to access the situation as advised and if truly the coils are bad, it's better you get new coils.

Good morning profs, please what can i do about my senwei sv6200 generator that drinks engine oil, yes, after like 12hours use the engine oil finsihes, i have checked there's no leakage or anything of sort and it wasnt like that the first month when i bought the gen. This issue started after i changed oil twice the third time the oil was almost dried up and still happened till now, so u just dumped the generator since i moved to a place with better electricity but now as rain the fall the electricity is not reliable again.

Something funny about that blue TEC Optima gen I got 2 months ago.

Nowadays, I noticed the noise is slightly deeper like a growl although its not harsh. Just slightly deeper than the first 2 weeks I got it.

As at 3 week ago, I noticed that when I turn it on, it exhales some white smoke first. This also happens when I switch off.

I thought it may be oil so I changed oil even though it wasn't low yet but its still happening. I then thought it was the air filter and found out it wasn't even dirty at all when I opened it so I put it back. So now I'm at a loss as to why these symptoms.

I don't want to wait till a major issue crops up. The VFT display stats are same as the first day I got it though just that deep noise and white puff of smoke that I don't understand.

Can you tell me a reason why these could be happening?

With regards to that deep noise... Check the following..

1. There may be a partial connection somewhere in your house...check all your extensions..once a black and red wires have contact...it will draw the generator.. it paramount you solve this problem hence your generator coil will be at risk..

2. The output connection from the gen...check whether you did the right thing..

That sound show strange loan to your engine..



The issue of white puff of smoke is purely the carburetor...the pin is bad...get a new carburetor...you are good to go

1. The deep noise happens even without connecting wire yet.

2. The connection is fine. Just 1 wire leading to my flat.


About the caburetor, the gen was bought brand new in June. The caburetor is still looking neat and pristine o. Not even oil stain on it yet.

Are you sure its caburetor issue?

Once there is no leakage as a result of bad oil seal or if there is no visible leaking of oil, then know that your rings are bad.


I would have asked you to state the type of oil you used in your engine but generator engine is not like car engine that selects oil.

Though you may have a new generator, that doesn't mean that your ring are in perfect condition..

I have witnessed a situation where the sellers will assemble all the engine parts manually and claim is from abroad..
Which in all cases, they don't get it right hence this problem you are facing.


What to do..

Be alert... always top it up hence it will knock

Call a specialist to check if there is visible leakage of oil.

You can ring ...if he confirms that the rings are bad.
