You are right. We don’t move players on ASAP. I guess we want to keep them around until we extract all the good in them.

They said it was Woodward’s strategy to keep offering them new contracts to keep their value high.

I was shocked when I heard that Matic, Mata, Cavani, Pogba were all offered new contracts but they turned them down and moved on.

So if they had accepted, they would still be United players. That’s how bad our recruitment strategy has been. We take too long to get rid of old players.

I kinda believe that Ajax signed players based on ETH’s preferences, except youth players that were promoted. I can list some players that were signed from ETH’s former club for him at Ajax.

Perez is so so good mehn. This is how to run a club. Clear recruitment strategy, just buying whatever the manager want isn't a recruitment strategy, it's a recipe for fragmentation.

I believe it's been to buy quality players that fit an ideology, then get a manager that'll get the best out of them. Na why this Perez guy dey fire managers fast, if you're not up to it you're gone quickly, before you ruin the players.

When a player doesn't work they're also quickly moved on. I remember Real Madrid got a €70m striker few years ago who didn't work out, he got loaned out, I believe he would have been sold if that club could afford him.

Some people on this board blamed the board for not signing Sancho for €120m two season back, because he was Ole prefered transfer target. Some people have also accuse the board of not signing players Ole wanted, even claiming VDB was not Ole's signing. Now you want the board to go on a signing spree without the new Managers consent, so you can blame the board again when the Manager fails. Our Manager has said he is in charge of player recruitment, so whoever he tells the board to buy is who the board will buy. If the selling club refuse to sell or demand for crazy fee, and the Manager did not submit alternative names, then it's solely the Managers fault. The only solution i see here is to either trash this current contract and draw up a new one (that will empower the board to sign good players as recommended by Rangnick), or they can continue to work with the current contract that seemingly gives too much power to ETH...

So, Fletcher is not a footballing person? Murtough has been a well experienced football director and administrator since 1997. What about Andy Boyle, a former Irish football player that is the deputy football director?

We have more experienced football people upstairs vs other clubs.

Murtough has been in this club for almost 10 years. He's part of the problem. A company that wants to do something different will hire from outside. I work with a big company that demand results, I know this and I'm sure you do too.

Its common knowledge that you may not get your A targets. A competent board that has been in the game for years should know this. In fact, the incompetent ones know this too.

A serious board should have this discussion with the manager! This just shows he has never been in charge of transfers before. He can't start now. Instead they have the discussion and identify everyone that can fit in the style he wants to play. Its a red flag when the coach says only this player can play his style.

The CEO presents the recruitment strategy and budget to the board for approval.

If you are going over the budget, you will need approval from the BOD with justification.

The recruitment strategy doesn't originate from the Board.
The Board doesn't sit daily, probably once or twice in a quarter.
So it is not as if the Board and the coach sits down to recruit and haggle over prices
