I think that qualifying series was all Addo. He did a good job and looks a sound tactician to me.

TheGoodJoe:

I do not really look at results for a game. Results add ups with time. However, in the first leg, the Ghanaians were tactically superior. In the second game, our approach was not as sound as I expected. On the whole, I believe the better side tactically qualified (Ghana) but we had the players to have done a good job. We failed at it.

I knew it... grin grin grin grin

Addo is now a sound tactician while Eguavoen is not grin grin grin grin

So in this order of the table, it should be ;

1st. Spain 2010
2nd. Germany 2014
3rd. Italy 2006
4th. Brazil 2002
5th. France 1998
6th. France 2018.

Right

Or is there anybody with a different opinion

1st. Brazil
2nd. France
3rd. Italy
4th. Germany
5th Argentina 2014
6th. Holland 2010
7th. Spain 2010

Where did you get that? I never hid my admiration of Eguavoen. I learned a lot from studying him. I have high respect for him.

However, I think Addo is more versed than Eguavoen in the possession game and if Eguavoen adds a bit more possession to his philosophy, I think he can become phenomenal.

grin grin grin grin you see why I said you should do stand-up comedy grin grin grin grin

I've seen your problem..

If e:uropeans say carrying and running with the ball is build-up play then you'll agree grin grin grin grin

Your problem is inferiority complex grin grin grin

if you saw the pass De-Bruyne gave Haaland for his 2nd goal against West Ham you won't be saying this trash cheesy cheesy cheesy because that's how teams played in the 90s and 2000s... that's the job of a #10.

or the pass Eze gave Zaha for his goal against Liverpool.

I think you are making a mixup here. I said buildup play has to do with fluidity and working with your teammate. When you talk mainly of Denilson and Ronaldinho, a lot of their shines came from flair on the ball. More of solo skills than teammate work.

This is not about Europeans. Sharks of Port Harcourt played a very fluid possession-based build-up startegy in the 90s. So it is not just a European thing.

So jumping to De Bruyne passing to Haaland, I do not understand how you can equate that to the solo skills of Ronaldinho and Denilson. To an extent, Leonardo.

In the 90s and 2000s, teams like Brazil, Italy, Germany had at least 2 "De-Bruyne/Eze/Iniesta/Xavi/Pirlo/Juninho/Ronaldinho/G.Silva" players in their teams that could dribble and run with ball and play a midfield and defense splitting pass that the striker will score...

not the sideways ultra passing Spanish teams that are powerless without Xavi and Iniesta that today every team now thinks passing sideways is build-up play...

If there is anyone that uses build-up play then its Arsene Wenger just that the Arsenal board messed him up.. Arsenal and many other teams have been playing possessive football before Guardiola became a coach. grin grin grin grin

Even in the 50s, the Hungarians played possession football. The Rinus Michels side of Holland built my love for the possession game. So, I never said it was a Guardiola invention. However, Guardiola made tactical advancements to it that turned it into the most turn to strategy for success.

By the way, that ball those 90s teams were playing will totally be nullified by the teams today. Simple, advancement in the modern game. From tactics to work rate etc.

Guardiola coached the Barcelona B team and was so good, they made him the head coach of Barcelona main team.

Messi was not there. Fabregas was not there.

It was a young Busquet, Pedro, Vasquez, Gai Assulin, Jeffren, and in a little patch, Thiago Alcantara.

Holland was the main culprit... if not for Robben's poor finishing Holland would have won....

there was nothing special about that Spanish team...

its the same way Super Eagles isn't at the 2022 world cup due to poor finishing of Moses Simon and Osimhen's high propensity to be offside.. grin grin grin

thegoodjoe will say it was chris H:ugton and Addo superior and advanced tactical prowess that made Ghana qualify grin grin grin
Spain would have been ousted by Paraguay

If we're to talk of Spain's dominance, let's talk about 2008

2010 was much more like destiny. By 2013 Confed Cup, Neymar used them for asun

he should leave leicester to fulfill his potentials

Our players are too comfortable to my liking. Once they get a decent contract in Europe they tend to become too relaxed to aim for bigger moves. Ndidi has paid his dues at leicester and too good to remain in a mid table club

Tchoumeni that Madrid spent big to sign from Monaco is not better than ndidi. Even united new signing casemiro is just a bit better only because of the caliber of teams he has played for as well as steady showing in the ucl and Brazilian national team(exposure)

Ndidi is good enough to be playing for the Bayern,Madrid, inter,Milan,Manchester United,Liverpool, psg,ATM and man city of this world

Hertha playing poorly. 30% possession.

Ejuke almost scored with that drive. We need more of that. He also needs to apply himself more, he tends to be anonymous off the ball.
