The market has witnessed a prolonged bear especially for banking stocks that have ran several years based on their PE's and P/B's. Won't be surprised if PE's start dropping below 2 for some bank stocks. It's already on PE of about 3 and below on average. That's really bearish.

interest on savings = 4%
1 year Tbill yield = 6%
Inflation rate = 19%

This is a negative real yield of 15% and 13% on savings and bonds respectively. This will wipe out savings and bonds.

In my opinion, good positioning in equities will give better yield.

WHILE PEOPLE ARE SWEATING WAITING FOR THE SUPPORT OF THE FALLING PRICES- SOME PEOPLE ALREADY HAVE THE BLUEPRINT IN THEIR HAND
For our members these are some of the support levels we are looking at. We don't want to be sweating in the market everyday or risk our funds unecessarily.

Save yourself from the sweat/high blood pressure, get the full list of the likely support for some of theses stocks plus the updates and some other useful daily trading ideas.

Chai your attached picture shows UBA support is at N6.04. That is a PE of about 1.5 shocked if EPS of N4 is sustained. Well Q2 reports are not yet out. And we don't know what Q3&4 will be. And if one or more of the few remaining FPI's will seek the exit door. Fingers crossed. grin

I think this your evaluation would have been done a lot time ago, maybe around this time last year? However, if you think some of these stock will come down to the present price as the support level , I won't want to agree.

Stocks are down but my income is up! In November 2021 my average monthly income stood at N50k, today it is N107k!

The best time to buy stocks is when everyone is running away from stocks. I’ve been buying, will continue to buy. No plans to sell anything for the next 15-20 years at least.

You are set to use the power of compounding to become wealthy with stock. The dividend is enough to cover your basic needs. Kudos!

Well done my brother. You are doing very well. That is exactly my strategy, I want to retire on stocks dividend so I keep buying and I am ready to hold as long as possible.
Recently I changed my strategy a little bit, I am investing 500k monthly into FGN savings bonds and intend to do that for about 5 years and use all the coupon payments from the bonds to invest in stocks.

At this moment saving in bond is not as good as taking the risk and buying some stocks. In fact I sold some bonds to buy some of the discounted bank stocks without loosing any annual income from the change in portfolio. If the banks do no collapse I stand to even earn more dividends than the bond coupons in time due to the situation of the current market. I also stand a very likely price appreciation in the shares to the point I can covert back to bonds in future if I do wish and get a jump in income through coupons when there is rush to buy with confidence, shares in the market at higher prices.

Very good idea as well. Just that I am comfortable with the way of the turtle. I am equally investing in equities as well just that I am shifting towards having 60% of my investments in bonds and 40% in equities.

He said coupons from bonds are used for investment in equities. Some of the bonds will continue to generate predictable cashflow for the next 30 years, dont doubt the compounding and wealth generation ability of that strategy

60% in bond is too conservative, unless you are a retiree.

Some personal finance experts believe we should subtract our age from 110 although i prefer 120, your answer should be what one can have in equities.

Meaning a 30 year old investor should have 80% in equities and 20% in fixed income

Not challenging the compounding and wealth generation ability of the strategy once stocks are carefully selected and managed. Selection and management of the stocks is very key. My point is, at this point in time, buying new Naira bonds should be temporarily on hold for someone already into stocks, as there are stocks that will likely deliver the same cashflow over the next 2 to 5 years, by their dividend payments. And there is a strong likelihood those stocks will also appreciate in value in the same period. The cashflow from newly bought stocks dividends, can then be deployed in the same strategy to compound by buying more shares.

And portfolio can be re-balanced as desired to acquire more bonds in future. Especially when their is a rush by FPI'S etc to buy stocks and prices rise.

For someone building a kind of pension income through his or her portfolio it is a perfect idea to maintain a good ratio of bonds in his or her portfolio. With a slight managed deviation when the market opportunities come. At the moment a slight extension into equities is a good move. So if the desired conservative Portfolio was 70% bond and 30% Equity for example. Based on the current market it should be adjusted towards 60% bond and 40% Equity.

60% fixed income versus 40% equities is too conservative for most people in their 30s to mid 50s.

20% to 40% of fixed income is preferable.

I agree with all your point of view. But for me it's much comforting to see that the value of my investment does not fluctuates up and down. However, I don't mind the interest that I invest. I look at it as free cash and for that I am happy.

Also remember Elections bear.
It might be bearish January.

I agree with you, but there will be a bull before the bear.

Just pick any stock that has december as end of year. Check the last 10 years. You will see the trend.

There will be a price appreciation sometimes in december and a second one in january or it starts late december into January

It also depends on your investment strategy. Why do you want to sell. What are your goals?

NSE bearish? Some stocks could be, but the overall health of the market as seen from the index is still bullish.

From a high of 54,290 to current value of 49,546 is just 8.7% decline. This index doesn't look bearish.

Let me change my choice of words.

What I was trying to say is that, this is the year low or lowest share price period for most stocks.

The release / anticipation of third quarter results will lead to price appreciations in the range of 30 to 40 % of current market prices.

I observed from your chart that there is always a bear after each election year, not before. It seems to be the trend.

Hence it might be advisable to stay off the market after the january bull/ price appreciations that will take place.

It was actually spare money I used to buy the shares (money I can afford to lose), it was over 50% of the money I invested around February and march I think but it has dropped dramatically, my fear is not to be on the losing side on the long run.

My intention was to leave it there for a long time.

SOME PEOPLE DO NOT SWEAT IN THE MARKET!!!
Members of our group do not swaet in the market. For those who says the market is not bearish, no problem. All that I know was that we sold INTBREW over NGN10, for those who are still holding INTBREW bought around NGN8 or above, is the market bullish or bearish?

For September earnings, our members already have some blueprint to work with. Below are some of the figures. If you like to have this plus some of our forecast, for tommorow we will distribute the expected high and low prices for the week (our members knows what to do with the figures as a guide to determining the expected weakness of the market).

To get our periodic profit and price forecast, text "SIGNAL" to whatsapp no. +2348023064935. You can also ask for clarification if necessary.

Price Appreciation is as a result of...
Q2 Interim Dividend announcement and qualification dates...
Q3 result may help if it fall within the Qualification period...
But Q3 results on its own dont move mkt...
cos of the absence of dividend expectation and hunters...
In fact, Nov is historically bearish...
While Xmas rally comes as a gift in December...

Well from the trends, January, Febuary, March are historically year highs. Not usually the best time to buy. It is actually the time those that bought July, September, the previous year sell after qualifiying for dividend.

At the end, your goal is the most important thing.

I do not claim to be an expect, I am just sharing my observations.

The bear of November comes after the peak of September/ October.

In a way we are saying the same thing.
