See what I was saying.

Homeschool licenced and authorized by who?

Registered under what educational body?

When its time to enter the University, with what certified document and criteria? The one you produced at home?

Just put your child in a school you can afford. There are cheaper schools out there. It's you who's looking for standard that you can't afford. When I said let people wait until they are financially strong before having a family so they can give them the best, a lot of men came at me like a wounded lion. Now see...

People who talk from both sides of their mouth are not to be taken seriously and nairaland men are one of such people.

people have been homeschooling for long and they have been moving to the nest level. If you travel abroad do you think those white people care about your certificate in Nigeria? Also how financially buoyant can someone be to be paying huge sum of money for just primary school where there are other bills to be paid.As a civil servant your salary should be able to take care of schoolfees.

The price can be regulated. Its just too much. There should be price control.

There are different classes of secondary schools. But generally, the lower the fees, the lower the quality since they get to pay teachers less and spend less on facilities and equipment. if you cannot afford 150k for a primary school pupil, then it's time to change their school to one that charges less. If no school around you charges what you deem affordable, then you are living in an area above your economic means and should move.

That's abroad. The system there is different from Nigerias, so what works for them might not work for you. Unless you plan going there to further in your education after homeschooling which I don't think will still be possible without your certs or academic credentials from Nigeria to continue studying abroad.

Anyways, your choice.

The ultimate is WAEC OR GCE.one can always enrol for WAEC after homeschooling.

I also think it is exorbitant. But the questions are: Does the price match the quality? And can you afford it?

If your answer to any of them is no, then you should switch schools. You've paid more attention to the price so far and have said nothing about the quality. Quality is more important than price in most cases. The fact that it's expensive doesn't mean its quality. There'll definitely be cheaper schools of similar/better quality.

In most countries, government schools are the standard of education. So private schools have to offer whatever the government schools offer plus a bit more. Unfortunately, that is not the case here since government schools themselves are substandard. Government secondary schools are still a bit better but you see those ones government primary schools? Just forget it.

The truth is govt sch in Naija are beta than private school standard wise. Govt schools have qualified teachers, lots of equipments, a perfect academic space, etc.

Nigerians just love p sch cos of name. Govt sch need packaging and strict discipline. Not flogging and punishment, but instant expulsion.

They also need to separate the bad kids from the good kids.

Since Private Schools Are Now Charging Exorbitantly For Schooling The Way To Go

Most private schools are now charging exorbitantly for schooling. You can imagine telling a parent to bring 150,000 naira for just a kid in primary school.

What of parents that have 3 to 4 kids. How will they cope and they are public servants.

The way to go may now be home schooling as most parents have started adopting it.
Must you have over 2 kids? If no be insanity, insecurity and peer pressure dey worry una.

3 to 4 kids is not too much. The private schools are ripping off parents because there is no Government in Nigeria.Nobody to regulate them.

They are not ripping anyone off.

It is from that fees that they will pay for things like

1.Salaries...worker salaries.
2.Exercise books
3.Desks
4.Textbooks
5.Other school facilites.

Government school can afford to charge 'low' fees because teacher salary does not come from those fees, neither does money for all the other things I listed.

If your private school is not giving you all the above, and still charging N150000, then yes, they are ripping you off. But if they are, then stop complaining.

I think homeschooling makes sense, with that money, one can buy the necessary facility for his children at home, and what if there is cooperation between different home schools.

But the problem is how much time does a parent have, to home school their children.

Depends.

Some private schools are good...some government schools are awful

Also, school gives you 20% of learning, the remaining 80% is up to the student. Those who get it on time do well.

Una go wise up soon.

How many rich people in the US n Europe are sending dia kids to private schools? Talkless of the poor and average over dia?

Why will Nigerians dispose public schools?

Nigerian parents are just working for school owners all in the name of good education.

Una go wise soon.
And how is our government helping our public schools in terms of funding. It's obvious you have not taught in a public school before

Let people have children they can care for. If it means having 1 child, then do and go fir family planning.
Maybe when the country becomes better or when one has more finances , they can have another.
(Maybe this should be preached at wedding ceremonies these days in Nigeria)

Let people stop bringing innocent children to suffer.

Give birth to the number you can train comfortably.
Maybe for you it is not much because of your income.

Private Schools have workers they pay salaries to. Some are parents.
Private Schools do not get government allocations.

If Private Schools are expensive for you, then go to government schools. Last time I checked, there are government schools all over the country.
Government schools are cheaper.
