a good option could be, look for a good govt school, then supplement with a good after school tutor and make sure to keep abreast with the tutor's performance.

3 to 4 kids is not too much. The private schools are ripping off parents because there is no Government in Nigeria.Nobody to regulate them.
the government can’t even boast of paying ASUU their employees, and you want them to regulate private schools that run their business from their pockets? If you can’t afford private schools use government schools, if you can’t afford government schools don’t give birth to more than what you can take care of. Blame the government for the educational system in nigeria and not the schools.

Depends.

Some private schools are good...some government schools are awful

Also, school gives you 20% of learning, the remaining 80% is up to the student. Those who get it on time do well.

P sch are just hype. They don't have qualified teachers, but must Nigerians are no aware of that. Even d big P schools lack qualified teachers. Most of the teacher's in P schools did not attend college of education. Teaching for private sch teachers is just a form of survival.

No qualified teachers will ever work for a p school for peanuts.

Una go wise up soon.

How many rich people in the US n Europe are sending dia kids to private schools? Talkless of the poor and average over dia?

Why will Nigerians dispose public schools?

Nigerian parents are just working for school owners all in the name of good education.

Una go wise soon.

1.Public schools in the US and Europe are paid for by high taxes...so they are well equipped. Not like Naija where we use oil money to pay for far too many schools...beyond its capacity.

2.Even then, some parents still send their kids to private schools abroad. If you are rich in say England, you may send your son to a 'public school'...what they call exclusive private schools for the rich kids (Blundell's, Eton, Harrow, Gordonstoun, etc..)

We can keep attacking the NG government from now till tomorrow, it won't change it. Everything will keep increasing, and that is outside of your control. The only thing you can control is how many kids you will have.
Make we dey born small small, I no say e dey sweet when we dey do am...but please make we dey born small small.

For those with plenty kids already, earn more or send them to public school. Peace.

Private schools are of discerner levels, there are ones for millions, hundreds of thousands etc.

I think the problem here is either to take your kids to the one you can afford or better still have lesser number of kids according to one’s finance.

You don’t want proprietors to charge high fees, but we criticize them when teachers are under paid.

We can’t eat our cake and have it

Since Private Schools Are Now Charging Exorbitantly For Schooling The Way To Go

Most private schools are now charging exorbitantly for schooling. You can imagine telling a parent to bring 150,000 naira for just a kid in primary school.

What of parents that have 3 to 4 kids. How will they cope and they are public servants.

The way to go may now be home schooling as most parents have started adopting it.

Went to a private school, for primary school, had quality education. Very excellent.

Would have gone private for secondary school , but due to circumstances, ended up in a (still good) government school.

Quality depends on how well it is financed though.

Why not set up your school and charge parents #1500 per session? To the best of my knowledge, there are still schools that are affordable to the "poor" but you want to go to the first-class type of school and you don't want to pay.

Nigerians are d ones destroying facilities in govt schools not govt. U expect d govt to replace them? What happened to the old equipments?

The topic is home schooling the way to go, i would like to know, how to create a good home schooling unit, and possibly connected units, that are community based, and centers on quality Child education.

It seems like a very good topic, where one can learn new information, outside the box.

Not many commenters are talking about home schooling itself, just the protest. grin grin

I think this is a topic that needs to be understood; how homeschooling works, its benefits, and the experiences of those who have homeschooled before.

Education has never been a social competition. It was black man who misunderstood the white.man. When few White men where starting schools, it would have been unwise to go from house to house to teach so they adopted the one school many children method. Education is education either by uncle or daddy.

Just homeschool your elementary school kids or get them a lesson teacher that knows their onions.
Enrol them in a decent Federal Government College for their post primary studies.
Homeschool your kids because you have no job or hustle that will take you out everyday? Is it these nairalanders that cannot spell or speak properly that will teach their kids? You will still pay heavily for someone good to teach them.
