P sch are just hype. They don't have qualified teachers, but must Nigerians are no aware of that. Even d big P schools lack qualified teachers. Most of the teacher's in P schools did not attend college of education. Teaching for private sch teachers is just a form of survival.

No qualified teachers will ever work for a p school for peanuts.

How much does government pay qualified teachers??

Is it up to 200k per month??

you just nailed it.They are into razzmatazz. I shake my head when I engage these pupils even those in private universities.Me that is presently working all those mathematical formulas are still in my head but when I ask them they just fumble and say the have forgotten.product rule ,quotient rule ,almighty formula they can't recite. This present generation is just crap.

All they know is to dance , do karate ( which infact they dont do very well) Come to PH and see just how appalling the private schools are .

Big time ripoff to rich parents, nice buildings, uniforms, but when it comes to character and learning its zero.

Many of these schools facilitate passing of WAEC and NECO for their students, which explains why the parents send their wards to them, no wonder they struggle when they go to tertiary institutions.

The ASUU people also have families and children in schools. They have to earn what can pay 150K as school fees for their kids. If you (or your parents, no offence meant, just to help you imagine or visualize the situation better) were ASUU members, I am sure you would understand. Don't be too quick to dismiss the agitations of people who put in the shift in a failing, failed system just because they want a better package to help their families.
I always insist that it must not be strike that ASUU can get what it wants. There are different ways they can get it.it has become monotonous as they now have a world record for striking for 100 years now. They have professors of law and they can loby to achieve their wants.Different methods are available. With what they are doing now they are killing the institution.5 months no university.how will the international universities community see Nigeria universities. They are creating a stigma on them.

Since Private Schools Are Now Charging Exorbitantly For Schooling The Way To Go

Most private schools are now charging exorbitantly for schooling. You can imagine telling a parent to bring 150,000 naira for just a kid in primary school.

What of parents that have 3 to 4 kids. How will they cope and they are public servants.

The way to go may now be home schooling as most parents have started adopting it.
U na no know anything. Everything has gone up and the prices of books comes from the money paid. Should school owners use their own money to augment the deficits. Una no even know say teachers are not even available now. Some of japa while some have left for more lucrative job. The rest should not be encouraged so that everyone should homeschool their kids?

If you can't afford a good private school, you can as well go for the cheap Akara school where you can pay 5000 a term or as well carry your child to a government school.
Quality Education is not cheap at all.

omo I attended public school, my kids will probably attend same.

In this Nigeria, university education doesn't guarantee anything. You still need to keep funds for the child after university to help him or her set up for life.

Doing that will seriously handicap your kids

Funniest thing is, check the salary scale to the employees, not UpTo that 150k. Something need to be done urgent over the academic sector. Home schooling isn't a bad option though. It's been practiced abroad and it's yeilding

yes comparing relatively to the salary being earned the amount for school fees is too much.

Nice one.The late Michael Jackson actually homeschooled his kids.way to go.
Hmmm. Michael Jackson home schooled his kids because he doesn't want the media to meddle into their privacy. Besides, many celebrities in the US attend home schooled because of privacy and it's flexibility as well.

and it can also be done since private schools want to give Nigerian parents BP AT YOUNG AGE.

I don't think ASUU is to blame afterall they are government employees themselves. They were not just agitating for their personal gains (although their boss~gov't who is a tragi-comedian ~pays them joke of a salary) but include revamping of the universities.

Private school this days are mostly after the money, most of them have three to four school uniform, for what exactly, they have wears for Monday and Tuesday, another one for Wednesday, a different one for Thursdays and an Ankara for Friday is this not too much, simply because our govt have lost focus. All they care is to rip parents and pay teachers a token. A student or pupil will be paying 150-200 per term and the teacher will be paid 30- 40k with so many subjects to teach.

Una go wise up soon.

How many rich people in the US n Europe are sending dia kids to private schools? Talkless of the poor and average over dia?

Why will Nigerians dispose public schools?

Nigerian parents are just working for school owners all in the name of good education.

Una go wise soon.

Thank you. At the end of the day, after paying exorbitant money, this school will still ask parents to pay for "runs" money for WAEC and "JAMB" for their children, which the parents will gladly pay.

Something is obvious wrong with this country and most of the citizens.

Nobody is charging you exorbitantly, don't you know how expensive things are out there? Transport fare and food and dollar de rise everyday, how you want make the school principal take chop without increasing his source of income (school fees).

The only problem is that, these principals don't increase the salary of the teachers under them.
