Good evening everyone! Pls I need an advice. We have an interview for next week. My husband does a white collar job where he’s a manager and also a director in the family business. While filling the ds-160, he just gave details of the white collar job alone. He didn’t talk about the family business. Also in his i/20,there’s no family funds. We’re considering on doing another ds-160 to put the family business as part-time work duties. Pls can one put both full time work and part time work on ds-160? Also, our DS-160 is for Abuja but we got Lagos appointment. Pls I need an urgent answer coz the interview is next week. Pls @Greattestman @Moshkom @Chibertha and experts! I need help pls
There is no place to fill in private businesses or family business in the DS-160 form. Only current employment, past employment, educational background etc

So after you fill in your current employment, there is an option to click and add more, it brings in another drop down form where you can fill in another employment info. I think you can find a way to squeeze in details about your private or family business on there.

Please i have a question, just admission for a masters course in university of texas at san Antonio (UTSA) and i saw the tuition and fees is about 55k dollars. Im confused because i want to know if tuition and fees means all expenses like accommodation, feeding, textbooks and the rest or that 55k is only just for school fees.

Good evening everyone
I went for my F1 interview on Monday but I was denied.
Firstly, I will like to share my story. I got a full funding scholarship with a TA for PhD in chemistry. While filling the Ds160 , I answered yes to question about any relative in the US which is my husband and a citizen. On the interview day after questions abt my studies, the vo asked abt relative in the us, asked few questions regarding my marriage and then I was denied. I want to try if I could be lucky to reapply for spring again but I have some questions troubling me.
My questions are;
1. Do they keep previously filled DS160 information? I am thinking if in my next application I should put no for relative in the US. I know anyone can say why not in the first time, BT my husband thinks it can affect later if he want to file for me
2. What is my chance of getting approved if I reapply again?
I know people can say why not file instead but it take nothing less than 2years coupled with the fact DAT I want to pursue my PhD.

Please I need people suggestions on this. Thanks

It was a mistake mentioning your husband who is a US citizen. My advice is: do not change your story of having a relative in the US because the VO would have noted it down as a reason for your denial. It will be dicey to tell another VO something different cos they always see whatever comment previous VO makes. You can also be lucky that the next VO will not ask you anything about it. You can reapply but have a story of what you intend to do after your program and show commitment to coming back to Nigeria to execute it. Good luck!!!

You should get a ‘cost of attendance’ from the school (not here) with a breakdown of what ‘fees’ means. And tuition is different depending on which program you’re in so ask your school.

My guess is that 55k does not include accommodation and feeding because that’s a variable cost depending on the individual student

Why can't you exercise some level of patience and follow the immigrant status route so far your husband is a US citizen. It will be impossible to believe that you will come back to Nigeria after your PhD program because of your husband's status. The VOs are smart people. Anyways this is just my opinion.

There is no email after this as far as I am aware. Put your passport number into the tracking page on ustraveldocs and it should say ready for collection. I received the email that it has been picked up 4pm on a Tuesday and I picked it up first thing the next morning. From walter carrington to muri okunlola cannot be more than 20 minutes journey, so if it isn't available for pick up today then certainly by tomorrow. Congrats

The course advisor sent me a link stating tuition and fees for texas residents is 27k and out of state residents is 55k, then when i went to the website i will use to start applying for i20, i saw where they stated tuition, accommodation, feeding and other expenses all falls under 44500 dollars for our of state residents. So i HV been confused because im just seeing different figures and don't even know the one to follow.

Good afternoon all, please i mistakenly used my maiden name in booking of my appointment instead of my husband's name that's on my ds-160 and i20.will I be granted entry into the embassy with that or should I make another payment ?(f2).

I have some issues.

My EA just got approved.

I'm yet to get my spring I-20.

My school don't update I-20.

Fall classes began since 22nd of August.

With the delay in approval, i then thought I will use this EA to get a date in October or late September. By then I would have gotten my Spring I-20.

So I proceeded to pick 1st September for my interview

Is it possible for me to go to the embassy with my fall I-20 and get an approval even when school started since 22nd?

Then I can now defer to spring.

I applied for F1 visa, with full tuition waiver and RA, I was denied in Aug, 2022
The VO asked me the following:
VO: Where are you going?
Me: I'm going to YZ University
VO: To do what?
Me: To purse a PhD in Environmental engineering
VO: Where is your spouse?
Me: My spouse is studying in the same university
Vo: How long have you been married?
Me: 18months
Vo: why didn't you apply for f2
Me: I didn't have a need for that, I'm going to study
Vo; how long have you been married
Me: same answer, 18months
Vo: why didn't you apply for f2
Me: same answer
He issued me the blue paper
What we're my mistakes?
Now I am applying for F2, my spouse has till Dec 2023 to complete his study, what should be my intended length of stay

Or do anyone have experience of booking on booking.com site before?
Re: General USA Student Visa Enquiries-part 17 by sunshine087: 9:24pm On Aug 25, 2022
The VO gave you two opportunities to convince him that you are truly going to school. You might get denied again if you switch to F2.

Reapply as F1, then convince the VO that you are actually going to study.

I would advise you don't switch to F2. Reapply for F1 and explain why you want to go to the US to study. You have your own career to advance, and your goals to achieve. When next you're asked the question about why you didn't apply for F2, your response should be tailored to your commitment to advance your career and achieve your personal goal.

Glad I found this thread. I am planning to apply for a Masters in either the University of Massachusetts or the University of Maryland Industrial Management or Project management. Is anybody trying to apply too? I would love to link up
I picked the fall application as ASUU is still on strike and I'm not sure January is possible. I have family in Maryland so it's kind of my first choice.
I would also be applying to schools in Finland or Denmark just in case
