Akilou:
THE IBB AVENUE FLOOD CONTROL PROJECT

The IBB AVENUE FLOOD CONTROL PROJECT is a lengthy flood control project embarked upon by Governor Udom Emmanuel in partnership with the World Bank to arrest flooding problems in Uyo and environs.

It was built by CHINA ROAD AND BRIDGE CORPORATION (CRBC) and it's a brainchild of Governor Udom Emmanuel. It comprises both underground and surface drainages.

The State Government promptly paid its counterpart funding and lobbied the World Bank and together they have executed this N23b 9 kilometres Flood Control project that connects several Communities in Uyo and two other LGAs and terminates at a River in Nsit Ibom LGA.

The perennial flooding on IBB Avenue (and environs) has been brought to an end, permanently.

This is one project that posterity will definitely appreciate the Governor for executing.

Thank you, Your Excellency!

Nothing to commission because you cannot stop it from working if it is truly functional and flip a switch to commission it on a set date.

Is it the same akpabio that built hospital and when he had a small medical issue he ran to Germany for treatment?

Some governors are quietly taking giant developmental strides, while others are fighting for a place in the retirement home (Senate) after wasting 8 years doing nothing meaningful!

Kudos to Mr. Udom!

Nigerians are like that!

Humans are like that, not especially Nigerians. Presented with opportunity, humans cut corners or and exploit for shot term gains , which is why development in the West is arguably antihuman for the sake of humans. For example, laid mines on either side of the channel will kill those humans that attempt to dump rubbish in it, serving as a prohibitive warning to other exploitative natured humans, resulting in the channel surviving to do its's job for the benefit of the greater amount of humans.

If Nigerians insist on perceiving themselves as especially bad people then why invest in infrastructures that dont take this into consideration ? Why build cities of cardboard for a pyro people ?

Much thanks to world bank for facilitating this great project with the support of the state government. Without them, the state wouldn't have done anything about this.

Lol. By commissioning, I meant if it has been put to use (in that context). That said, aren't you in Nigeria to know/see that almost all projects have completion and commissioning dates, including toilets?

The governor Emmanuel Udom that I know will definitely "commission" this project when it's ready. If you think a politician can embark on a project of such magnitude with huge cost and not have camera and asoebi women for fanfare, then you've not been in Nigeria long enough.

True, take it or leave it, Akpabio did wonders when he was the Governor. Calabar-Itu road was a death trap before he came and turned everything around. Is it Uyo-Nung udoe road? Akpabio took road construction to a new level. Akwa Ibom has been blessed with good Governors right from before Atta to Udom.
