Montclair is quite a pricey town and off campus student housing can be scarce. I would suggest going on craigslist and look for rooms and shares in areas like Clifton, Bloomfield or Newark which are nearby areas to Montclair and are somewhat cheaper. There is good transportation (bus or train) to Montclair from these areas. Good luck!

The company i work with presently has agreed to fully sponsor my studies. I applied as married but wont be going with my spouse immediately.

You must take charge of your own visa interview - to be frank some Consular Officers have no idea what they are doing -

You must hit (1) Bona fide student; (2) ability to pay; (3) present intent to return. There is little of this in the interview.

Whatever question they ask - answer it and then pivot to one or more of these three requirements.

Hi Shannon70, I currently work for an American Multinational Conglomerate. The company has an office in VI and Ikoyi. I work from one of them.

Now coincidentally, the school I’m going to for my PhD is in the same US State with the headquarters of my company (different cities though)

That’s a legitimate question. The Visa officer will ask why you’re going to bachelors at 24 when most are going at 16/17/18 years old. You will be classmates with teenagers and need to convince the officer why your case is atypical
