UNILAG Leads Mass Resignation Of Lecturers Over ASUU Strike by CzarChris(m): 10:18pm On Aug 30, 2022 |
The University of Lagos (UNILAG) is leading other public tertiary institutions in the number of lecturers resigning their posts due to the federal government’s poor handling of the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU’s) ongoing strike.https://businessday.ng/education/article/unilag-leads-mass-resignation-of-lecturers-over-ASUU-strike-ashiru/ 15 Likes

Bluntguy:The brain drain Nigeria is currently experiencing is alarming. I personally know at least 6 lecturers who have relocated to the UK and Canada. Even Uganda, Ethiopia and Kenya are currently recruiting Nigeria academicians. Professors who are supposed to be mentoring young lecturers are leaving the country in droves. Don't be surprised if school resumes and more than half of university lecturers are out leaving massive vacuum that will take this country decades to fill. It is well. These are audio resignations. ASUU is only raising the alarm to coerce the FG into doing their biddings. Perhaps they went on vacations till their demands are met by the FG. The lecturers have more to gain than just quitting. 93 Likes 13 Shares |

Lazy pedophiles, sex for grade corrupt lecturers, how will they cope and adapt in a lawful country? Cos they are used to insolence, harassing and victimizing students here. 109 Likes 17 Shares |

I think at this point FG should pay ASUU the salary arrears since that has always been the culture since ASUU started striking. Besides, it's not like that money would be properly channeled if not paid, it'll still be looted by the corrupt politicians. What some of us didn't want to hear was that lecturers were getting paid while the students were languishing at home. If they're ready to suspend the strike, then FG should pay them. After all, they need the money to be in the right frame of minds to teach when school resumes. We don't want them transferring the anger on the students if forced to go back to class without pay. The relationship with students was bad on a normal day let alone when they're forced to class without pay. It'll be bloody mehn! Meanwhile, some of these lecturers are good and I know one in particular (a Prof in UNIBEN) that assist indegent students financially from his little salary. So, because of such Godly lecturers, I pray that God touches the hearts of the president and ministers to release their salaries and do the needful to end this strike....Amen 42 Likes 4 Shares |

JJuanMiguel:So from your analysis, it is safe to deduce that all Nigerian lecturers are pedophiles, and they all go around harassing and victimizing students? Just asking. 59 Likes 2 Shares |

Make them resign. We have many individuals with good qualifications and ambition to become lecturers. This will pave way for them to be employed as lecturers. 28 Likes 9 Shares

This their traditional university stuffs is fast becoming obsolete. Most universities are presently running online programs with shorter time frame of getting your degree in most courses. This will cut cost on so many fronts for the students. 14 Likes 3 Shares |

I feel ASUU are too self centered, the economy situations all over the world do not support such bogus requests at this umpteenth time. ASUU has never fought for the welfare of Nigerian students since i was born all they always ask for is salary, salary and salary increment. Let them resign in droves, we've got many brighter minds out there looking for opportunities. 28 Likes 5 Shares |

ASUU should be proscribed..... Or universities should be privatizedor given to States. All these media antics against the federal government has failed. The over 2.3 trillion they re requesting is not to build infrastructure, it is solely for them to share into their respectives accounts. During my university days, from 400 level, the three professors that was supposed to lecture us came only once or twice a whole semester. Gave us handout and ask us to read, at the end, one gave all of us "A" 27 Likes 2 Shares |

The rate at which this strike will affect Nigeria will be sad. This has given more opportunities for the mushroom universities in the neighboring countries to recruit more Nigerian Student, giving substandard education and extorting them without pity. Especially in Benin Republic, this singular action is making some uneducated and unqualified Nigerians running university system there richer without giving value. I just pity the future of Nigeria because the student heading to those schools graduate with nothing to show. Some of them even gets stuck as they can't further their education because certificates issued from the mushroom schools are not verifiable elsewhere. A pity 1 Like |

You retained your best graduating students years back only to be paying your first class graduates 105-120k when their counterparts in other firms are earning 400k+ and their mates abroad are earning £2800 monthly. The resignation just started! From Independence till now, we've produced over 80k medical doctors. Presently, we have about 12,500 (9k in federal hospital and 3k in state and private). The rate of adverts for nurses and doctors in Nigeria has increased- none wants to work but rather on their way to UK. By the time it dawns on government, young doctors here will be treating ailments older than them. PROFS and PhD are not easily replaceable since there is a little to no number of profs or Dr. that aren't in the academic sector already. Can you send your kids to public primary or secondary school? You would rather send them to private school and pay huge amount just because Government failed in funding public schools. We shall see! He who sleeps with an itching bumbum must surely wake up with a smelling finger. 22 Likes 1 Share |
