You are right about the fact that people aren't punished for their crimes well enough in this country that's criminal activities will continue to thrive because people are not held accountable for their undoings, at best what we get is a slap on the wrist kind of punishment or a Presidential pardon few years down the line. Naming and prosecuting offenders will serve as deterrence to others failure to do so will embolden existing and would-be offenders.

Just like what happened with the adulterated fuel. No one was punished and it can happen again because these guys will see themselves as untouchable.

Same way IGP will give orders to police formation across the country and you will see ordinary constable and sergeant boldly going against the orders.

the major marketers bore the brunt of it. they took it back and blended it.

when you have a batch of fuel with kleg [too much of substance X /litre] you simply mix it with a much larger batch of fuel that is alright, until the volume of substance X per litre is acceptable.

if your fuel has 7% methanol - mix it with the an appropriate volume of 2% methanol fuel and it becomes 2% methanol

i am tired so the short answer - take 200,000 litres of that fuel - mix it with 10,00,000 litres of ok fuel - and it is all ok

that is what was done. no answer on whether NNPC repaid all the marketers who had to pump out the fuel from their stations, deliver to their depots and blend.

sai buhari and 0 consequences

until NNPC is broken up and sold to private owners, this nonsense will continue

everyone will just manage because it is govt

The government should name and shame these religious houses involved , have their leaders and other individuals involved prosecuted and answer for their crimes . We should not just be reading about these things in pages of newspapers and on social media, they should put face to these criminals and single them out for punishment in accordance with the laws of the land .

One thing I’ve learnt is when people are aware there are little or no consequences to their actions, they tend to have disregard for both laws and rules of morality.

A senior colleague was telling me how things usually operated in one of the first generation banks in the past. When a staff is found to have committed a fraud and the money he fraudulently appropriated is lower than his expected severance package/retirement benefits, they just deduct the money from his retirement benefits/ gratuity and allow him/her to continue working with the same bank with constant salary with full benefits till retirement . The cases of fraud never abated in the bank due to this policy till during Sanusi’s tenure as CBN governor and new management took over the bank.

With new management in place, any case of fraud is transferred to EFCC, the staff is summarily dismissed and most of them end up getting prosecuted even after the bank must have pursued recovery from the benefits that would’ve accrued to the staff. The cases of fraud reduced to a barest minimum cos people knew there were major consequences for their actions

Also - none of this pipeline vandalization can take place without support from NNPC insiders.

there is always a cabal within the system that is on that take.

and it always goes to the top
and too many people's hands are dirty, so no one can expose anyone without the whole apple cart falling over

and God help you if you are an idealist who swallows the whole integrity BS they say in townhall meetings and on company webpage - you ca literally get killed.

You are right.

Sometimes when you read what Kyari says you wonder if the govt has no powers or they just decided not to use the power. How can we be losing 95% from a terminal to theft and everyone involved in that terminal are not cooling off in prison at this moment.

No way crude oil bunkering of that extent will be happening without the collusion and knowledge of everyone working there.

Kyari should've been sacked since that adulterated fuel happened, buhari gave an order for those responsible for the fuel to be investigated and prosecuted but nothing happened.

Everyone working on that Bonny plant from the MD to the bottom should be sacked and prosecuted and their accomplice in the community, religious house and creeks should be rounded up also.
I believe news like these are false and blatant lies to divert the masses attention.

How can a crime as grave as this be,without names.......It is a lie joor

On d adulterated fuel...It can be said that the gov herself have hand in it cos it is misnormal to allow d issue dies without any form of justice ...

Buhari is just there and maybe incapacitated to perform cos he has sold his soul to his APC cabals..

Will BAT be able to change the status quo? cos to extent he is going to work with more than half of people who are working with presently with Buhari....

as it now...nobody is talking abt d 10 SUV armored cars that didn't get to Niger(1.4b don lule bdat))

All these happen because its a govt thing and everyone believe its free money or our commonwealth and ministry mentality. In govt you have to be sensitive to the politics too. You point at Alams or Ibori, his people start protesting that its witchunt, you point at Dasuki or Dariye his people start complaining of witchhunt, you point at Orji Kalu, Tafa Balogun, Ifeanyi Uba his people start complaining of witchhunt

How many times have we seen people protest to defend blatant stealing because na their man?

Look at govt place where they ask them for competence test, credential verification even show up on time, They will go on strike because they are blocking them from chopping from the National cake

Privatize it and lets see if Mr Blueray wiill open eyes and someone will be stealing your investments even if the culprit is his pastor or old classmate

All the billionaires we hear and envy, If you hear from their staffs how they chase even the smallest things missing. Ask staffs of Adenuga Ovia Elumelu how shrewd these guys are.

I heard that time Adenuga ETB a sizable number of them visit EFCC regularly because of petty fraud

You are not far from the truth. Private businessmen will always succeed anywhere Government owned business has failed; In fact there's nothing like government owned business in this country sef, more like they are running charity and sharing the national cake which of course does not give chance for efficency.

I still can't wrap my head around the fact that Ibori was tried in naija and all the 70-count charge against him never stuck, in fact the case was struck out until UK had him extradited and tried & he eventually got 13 years jail term

This is a man who ordinarily should not have qualified to stand for an election in 1999 due to his ex-convict status prior to that time. The audacity of his kinsmen later defending him even after serving his term in the UK just leaves one mouth-opened shocked

Republicans don’t have anyone as popular as Trump. If he doesn’t run, Biden gets another 4 years.

There’s a reason they are trying to hang an indictment on his neck. It is because they fear him. Over 99% of the candidates Trump has endorsed have won their tickets.

His rallies are still packed to the brim. You should also not forget this guy amassed around 75m votes in the last election(beating the much loved Obama’s numbers).

I think Trump should run again.

But then Obasanjo ensured Tafa Balogun was shamed and kicked out of the force based on his corruption case. Just look at the useless APC apologists suddenly growing balls to criticize the government inadequacies while still supporting the party.

Like how does it work? What sort of cognitive dissonance is this?

Let's never forget that your mcm is a part and parcel of the government.

donjazet:
Do Nigerians really want an international criminal with criminal indictments and also a grandfather of institutionalized corruption in Nigeria to lead this nation?

Do you really believe that in spite of these criminal records, that if Tinubu was passionate about enacting positive change in Nigeria, he really didn't have the clout and political machinery to achieve this?

His stooge was the vice president of the country.
His own wife has been a senior senator for several years.
His stooge is the speaker of the house of representatives.
He has at least 15 senators in his pocket.
He has at least 10 ministers in his pocket.
He was the other half of the grand coalition of the ruling party.

Do you believe that with all these at his disposal, this man couldn't effect change in the country or at the very least SPEAK UP and REVOLT when he saw how terrible the leadership which he foisted upon us became.

But no, he didn't speak up because he was a very part and parcel of the problem. He couldn't speak up because of his selfish ambition, so he decided to let the country burn to the ground so as not to gore some powerful oxes. So as not to step on the wrong toes .

And here we are, we the masses foolishly lining up behind this criminal traitor of his country to lend our voices and support.
How foolish can we be? Our mumu never too much?

Bro I cannot continue to allow these people decieve folks here with their evil intentions.
You are a living proof of how gullible and intellectually lazy, people can be.

Look at you, a young man that should be a vital cog of his society having to resort to very criminal endeavors, to wreaking havoc on innocent victims lives to survive the country.

You that should be up in arms against the bad government that has created the environment where criminalism thrives has instead join forces with the government simply because the candidate is a criminal.

There are soo many people like you who are just silent who I have decided to take it upon to hammer in their head the dangers of aligning with evil.
If you feel attacked by my posts, that is because your conscience is very guilty of your choices.

While Trump might be popular with the base, but he has a negative perception among independents in a 4:1 ratio.

n an election, Democrats alone cannot win, Republican alone cannot win, Anyone who takes the biggest bite of the independents will win

Trump is very divisive, He has an abrasive personality which will not work for many people. I liked his policies when he was president. But people rarely vote for policies, they vote against people

Democrats and Bidens only hope is to make Trump run and turn the election into a Trump wankfest. They know if they whip up enough sentiments on Trump people will be swayed. Taking Trump out of the equation deflates them in a big way

Hey Dayo, we discussed this 2-3 months ago I think and I predicted this would happen. 10K proves that he remains a moderate Democrat because he did not bow to the pressure of the extreme left to forgive 50K. It's a big win for him and the timing is impeccable, considering the midterms are around the corner. Getting the inflation reduction act passed is a big win for his cabinet as gas prices and grocery prices are dropping. Job numbers, especially new jobs are going up, finally, the SC verdict on abortion adds to the much needed boost the Democrats needed to stand any chance in the midterm. After a very rough and terrible start, Biden has a lot going for him right now; his approval rating is buttressing that.

As for Trump, to me, he is not as smart as his confidence presents. He is quite naïve and he has the worst advisers, however, he understands the power of his appeal and maximizes it very well. The issue with taking Trump out of the running is that the Republicans don't have anyone with a wider appeal to the Republican party, especially grassroot members. Trump goofed with the classified doc, it exposed his ignorance to the law and the severity of it's consequences. If he doesn't run, it would be an easy win for the Democrats. When I read sentiments like yours, I feel like your party is at crossroads.

i don't belive he goofed. i believe he knew exactly what he was doing - trading nuclear information to the saudis for cash.
does anyone think the saudis gave kusher 2 billion out of benevolence?

i only hope they were able to stop him. you do not want to imagine arabs with nuclear weapons
they are only pretending to behave because they understand the current balance of power.

give them nuclear weapons and they will start pulling out all the portions of the Quran exhorting war against infidels.

that is what trump would have wrought on the world. and he may have critically undermined the whole basis of democracy.

Of a truth LASUTH is well equipped (compared to other Government owned health institutions in the country ) , Lagos state government pumps in money for its running and maintenance , but sadly the staff there are typical Nigerian civil servants . I wouldn’t want to relive my experience there last year when I had course to take a family member there at different times .

Mehn! angry To even get ur card from the records department u have to get there as early as possible and use the Nigerian way to bypass a whole lot of unnecessary bureaucracies . The whole moving to the different clinics , God help u that u don’t have a connect there who would help u fast track the process ; u will see sick people lying helpless on pavements while those who brought them are on queue in their stead .

At various times we were literally attended to in the car; my patient had a drip stand fixed by the side of the car while he took two drips inside the car . The doctor and nurses practically told us not to bring down the patient from the car that the patient will be attended to in the car cos there wasn’t any bed or wheelchair free at that moment .

I think I agree with Raumdeuter, privatization is the way forward for all those government run businesses baba

Inflation Reduction Act my foot. If they really believed it was, why get Billy the Goat Gates to bribe Joe Manchin and that other lady (I forget her name now) to sign off on it and commit career suicide at the same time, then switch and start calling it a climate change bill as soon as it passes preliminarily? Because it is a complete hoax. Has nothing to do with inflation which the Biden administration caused.

Student loan forgiveness? Something you know you cannot do by law like the fake vaccine mandates. Watch how it will get tossed out by the courts and then Pedo Biden will turn around to say "I tried but the courts did not let me".

I dont think Govtt need to hands off every businesses. It's not even possible to do that.

What need to change is the attitude of those employed to work, they should do their work. I will always say that whoever work for the government is responsible for how the government turns out to be. It is everyday citizens that run the various sector and if they do their job as they should, we wont be having this causes.

Why system works in the saner climes is because people do their job. It is people that make up a system that function well.

If we privatize everything, you will leave the poor of the poor in the hands of greedy capitalist who are only after maximizing profits. It's the same problem that US health care system is having while the UK system that's run by the govt is so much better.
