So I relapsed few hours after day 9.. a very bad way to end august.. I had to take some days break from this thread cos I fvcked up so bad.. hopefully September will be a clean month for me.. and for everybody out there..

I am also fighting with alcohol addiction, it has really redicled me many places , I drink and get drunk most weeks and I fall sick immediately,I will not get myself for days after getting drunk once in a while , I lost relationship, business , friends,family and more . I even try spiritual means but still fighting with it . May God help us all for this addiction.

Damn see men . I keep having this anxiety when I smoke, though it doesn’t happen when I smoke with friends, I just get scared for no reason some times I get racing heart beat even panic attacks.
I never thought I would say this but I hate been high.

You're welcome man, currently we don't have one however I want each and everyone to be able to master abstinence/breaking free from the act for 3 weeks (21 days) before delving into WhatsApp group of a thing, special thanks to the creator of the AntiFAP thread on this.

Here is what I observed during my own journey and truth be told, temptations plenty sha:

Week 1: the first few days was a bit easy though from the fifth day or so, the day was getting longer.
Week 2: that was the worst week of my life, no social interaction one bit, I don't do alcohol though but na MJ I dey take chest am so I try as much as possible to avoid some of my paddies wey dey flex life.
Week 3: one hell of a ride, withdrawals sympoms set in, a brother talk me into picking up new skills as an idle hand is one minutes into relapse na him I join different classes o, the rest they say is story...

I'm not there yet still looking up to men here Sha...

I feel compelled to leave a message.

I started smoking in sec school.
Was introduced to it by a friend and he became my best friend. Did it for like 8 years.

Why did I stop?
I somehow knew this wasn't the kind of life I wanted. I wanted to be a normal human with a wife, beautiful kids that I can play and dance with when I grow up.

I wanted more for my life than what I was doing and I knew weed was going to be in the way. I knew it was me that could stop me from progressing.

I did a number of things not so good just to get cash for weed. Like selling my stuffs etc.

So I decided I was going to quit.
I relapsed many times just as some of the guys here but I didn't give up on myself.

Finally, i stopped. I counted till 53 days or so and the rest was history.
In my own case, I didn't leave my best friend.
I remained friends with him for two years.

I would follow him to awkward places, where weed smokers were. We would be indoors together... we would gym together in his quiet home but I never smoked. I was determined. I tried to change his mind but he was adamant.

We stopped talking when I got admission but this admission took a while due to my unseriousness.
My gf told me then that all my good friends have left me behind... that what am I still doing and it poked me hard.

I graduate third best in my department eventually especially as I had a wonderful mum may her soul rest in peace. She didn't give up on me.

Last time I rolled and smoked was 2004 and I did it for 8 years then.

There would be aftermath even after a long time or even forever
1. Anxiety
2. Lack of confidence.
3. Mood swings
4. Interest in solitude rather than being social
5. Lack of love
6. Not being a goal getter
7. Ultimately that persons life may be derailed

What makes you superior over these aftermath is two things:
1. Hope and not despair
2. Fight and not give up
3. Bullheadedness and not weakness

BONUS: Believe it or not but I prayed that the Holy Spirit should help me and that was the only time I was able to stop weed.

Solid facts but I don't think the aftermaths are permanent like you said, even non drug users experience anxiety and low self esteem, weed just amplifies these existing traits in a person.

Guy's I relapsed again, e get babe way I like so I asked her out but she tell me say she no dey interested for now, na so i just waka go cartel smoke enough weed till I get panic attacks, funny thing be say the babe later call me say she no like the way i react and i suppose understand say she just break up with her guy so she needs time to heal. The babe even dey care for me more than I care for myself, she dey check up on me all day and she even dey give me green light but my bleeped up weed mind just nor sabe how to run things again, anyways I'm on day 3 now
