You are talking out of bitterness and sheer ignorance.
What do you know about Uyo
Uyo has everything and the modern infrastructure of a modern city in Nigeria.
if you say that Uyo has only good roads, then you must be spewing trash out of ill-will or hate.
For your info, Uyo is one of the few most visited state capitals in Nigeria today.

Stop deceiving yourself and others
I have stayed in Uyo before
The city is peaceful, has good roads, no traffic issue with friendly and lovable indigenes
but with
zero economic activities
zero human capital development
Everybody there want to join politics or follow politicians in order to survive because the city lacks industries
The city is not good for doing business
Its meant for people who have made money and want to relax or for retirees...shikena
Am not saying this out of bitterness or hatred
Am just stating what is obtainable there

Is it fair or truly right to refer to Ikeja as a city of its own?
Isn't it rightly just a district (LGA) within a city?

Cost of living and liveliness puts places like jos(plateau) and Kano(above). Opportunities put Ikeja high too. Calabar too.

when we say economy, it is not about job, what is the purchasing power of people living in that area. if you choose to come today and bring your business down. does the people have enough financial strength to purchase it.

or as an artisan, if you choose to come and hustle in Benin, will you be getting jobs. these are what what we should look out for or be talking about. You don't have a skill, you are talking about suffer head, you clown. Which city in Nigeria have gainful employment opportunities
You have hit the nail on the head bro. One thing you can not take away from the people of benin city is that the purchasing power of the people is very high though there are alot of work to do in the city.

You right my friend, economically benin city is better than many cities aforemention but they is still need to work on there infrastructures because without good roads a state can not be rated high.

Lagos is a city state just like New York in the US, but has an Official capital for administrative functions, alright?
Albany is Capital of New York State.

Abuja is not a State, its under the Jurisdiction of Federal Government, it has a special ministry that take care of its development &it's headed by a Minister by appointment.
Abuja has six Area Councils, you may as well call it LGA, but the seat of Power is in Abuja Municipal Council same as LGA.

You haven't said anything.
Anyone who lives in Lagos will have difficulty describing Ikeja as its "capital city . . ." It is at best just its chief administrative area housing the secretariat to the state government. In fact to underscore the point, the Governor's official residence is not even there. It is on the Marina in Lagos Island. We cannot begin to compare Ikeja to other state capitals which are full cities themselves and on their own. Its ridiculous to compare Ikeja in that sense to a Kaduna, or Calabar, a Port-Harcourt or Uyo, a Benin City or Ibadan. See the point?

If you carve Ikeja out of the rest of Lagos, what size would it be and would that look like a city to you?

It is not fair to say that my point is null&void. it is you that don't understand the concept of a city state like Lagos, I went further to compare Lagos to New York in US for you to comprehend, but it seems so complicated to you.

Now at the bolden of your post above, In Nigeria, all State capitals is automatically &administered as LGA. E.g Benin City is a LGA &@the same time, State Capital of Edo State.

Do you really know the Landmass size of Ikeja? Or Do you know that Lagos State as a whole is the least, i mean the smallest state interms of landmass? Thats why Lagos is known as a City State, meaning Lagos is a city cos every where seems developed as a unit &it's administered as one of the State under Federal Republic of Nigeria.

The name City or capital city is not necessarily mean it must be large, big in landmass, even if Ikeja is small in size, it has been constitutionally named the State Capital City of Lagos &there's nothing anybody can do about it. In Europe, US or in other western world, there are cities as small as Ikeja.

Albany is the Capital of New York State in the US, it doesn't mean Brooklyn, Queens, Manhattan or Bronx is not recognized in New York State or Albany is bigger in size reason it was chosen ahead of others in NY State. If I want to see New York State Governor, I will go to Albany & meet with him.

Official seat of power of Lagos State Government is in Alausa District, Ikeja the State Capital.
So officially:
Alausa is a principal district in Ikeja, the state capital city of Lagos State. It is the seat of the Lagos State Secretariat and offices of the Governor and Deputy-Governor of Lagos State.

So if the official residence of Lagos State Governor is in Marina on Lagos Island, it is the choice of LASG, it does not take away the physical Office buildings of Lagos State Governor &his Deputy in Alausa, Lagos State House of Assembly, &Lagos State Secretariat from Ikeja, the Capital city of Lagos State. So it is safe to say Ikeja is a city on it own with Roads, Streets, has business hubs, office accommodations, good residential Estates & Layouts, schools, Banks, shopping malls, fastfood eatries, night clubs, resorts etc, as well as Government administrative nerve centre of Lagos State.

If I want to see Mr. Babajide Sanwo-Olu, the Lagos state Governor, I will simply travel to Ikeja, the state capital to see him officially in his office &discuss business wink @official hours not Marina on the Lagos Island.

For me, Oshio still underperform. D man na hype. He governed for 8yrs. He was same mate with Akpabio, Fashola and others. Infact, look at neighboring Delta State, you can't compare them now. Benin was the capital of the then Bendel state.

Today, Delta State is far more developed in terms of infrastructure than Edo State

Benin is not one local government bro. Benin is five local government area. Benin is the whole of oredo, Egor, half part of ikpoba okha, 25 percent of Ovia north east and about twenty percent of Uhuwande. Benin is made up of 1200km square kilometers of land. Ikeja will enter into Benin thirty times. Infact Ikeja should be compared with Uselu(which is a section of Benin not the whole Benin). Cc deepsight. Benin is the second largest city in Nigeria in terms of landmass. Don't get it twisted, I understand the man's argument.
