*Myth #1: Solar can’t power my factory*

C10 vs C20

It’s a fact that all C rated batteries have the same capacity, i.e., 150AH on specific load conditions. In simple words, we can say that the integer mentioned in the type of the battery represents an attribute of the battery. For example, at C10, the battery will last for about 10 hours (load-15A), and it should not be discharged within 10 hours. If acted otherwise, the battery life decreases. By the same token, a battery at C20 will last for 20 hours (load-7.5A) with the condition that it should not be discharged within 20 hours or its fate will remain similar to that of C10 rated battery. The faster the battery gets discharged, the lesser energy you get out of it. C10 rating is known to be FAST DISCHARGE whereas a C20 rating is attributed as MEDIUM DISCHARGE.
C10 rated batteries are always recommended for solar and industrial purposes with the best charging and discharging rates. As the high load uses battery power, it is capable of delivering more energy in a short time. C20 rated batteries, however, are not preferred in this case due to the excessive current drawn than it is obliged to supply which will in turn reduce its life cycle.

Most solar batteries are rated C20 and C10.
This indicates the maximum initial charge / discharge current.

Differences and relationships between SoC and SoH


1. The State of Charge (SoC) of a battery is *a measure of how much electric charge has been taking* (either by either external circuit discharge or by self discharge) *from a battery* while the State of Health (SoH) of a battery *is a measure of how fast or slow a battery drains to a relatively lower voltage under a specified electrical load*.

2. A battery with *a very low SoC* (say 10% SoC) *requires recharging* while a battery with *a very low SoH* (say 10% SoH) *requires replacement* to ensure an electrically stable, available and reliable storage system.

3. A battery with a *moderate or high rate of self-discharge* will definitely have *a low SoH* since it will gradually discharge to lower SoC even without an external load.

4. A *Battery A with low SoC (say 10% SoC) and high SoH (say 90% SoH)* is much preferable to another *Battery B with high SoC (90% SoC) and low SoH (say 10%SoH)* since *Battery A requires recharging only* while *Battery B will require replacement* for energy storage reliability and stability.

*Theoretical implications of SoC and SoH*
Let us consider a Battery A: *12VDC 100Ah* Deep Cycle Battery.

*Scenario 1*
At a *SoC = 100%*, *SoH = 100%*, an electrical load (say DC TV) of *1A*
Theoretically, It will take an estimated time of *100h* to take Battery A to *0% SoC* (100% DoD).
Mathematically, 100Ah - 1A*100h = 100Ah - 100Ah = 0Ah (0% SoC)

*Scenario 2*
At a *SoC = 50%*, *SoH = 100%*, an electrical load (say DC TV) of *1A*
Theoretically, It will take an estimated time of *50h* to take Battery A to *0% SoC* (100% DoD).
Mathematically, 50Ah - 1A*50h = 50Ah - 50Ah = 0Ah (0% SoC)

*Scenario 3*
At a *SoC = 100%*, *SoH = 50%*, an electrical load (say DC TV) of *1A*
Theoretically, It will take an estimated time of *50h* to take Battery A to *0% SoC* (100% DoD).
Mathematically, 100Ah - 1A*50h*2= 100Ah - 100Ah = 0Ah (0% SoC)

*Scenario 4*
At a *SoC = 50%*, *SoH = 50%*, an electrical load (say DC TV) of *1A*
Theoretically, It will take an estimated time of *25h* to take Battery A to *0% SoC* (100% DoD).

Water has no calories or sugar, it is a better choice than sodas and fruit juices to keep hydrated. Sodas and fruit juices usually contain a lot of sugar, which actually removes water from the body.

While reaching for a glass of water may seem simple, there are many different types of water available to drink, including:

spring water
distilled water
well water
Each type of water has its own set of benefits, but some do carry risks. Distilled water is formed from the steam of boiling water. By boiling the water, minerals and other impurities are removed, leaving the distilled water in a “purer” state.

Because of this, some people believe that drinking distilled water can help cleanse the body of unnecessary chemicals. Other people, however, think that the minerals present in drinking water are necessary for good health.

What is distilled water?
Almost all water has some impurities in it. These impurities can include:

Drinking distilled water will not replace minerals lost through sweat, as all additives and minerals will have been removed during the distillation process.

Distilled water pulls in small amounts of minerals from any material it touches, including plastics and the body (including one’s teeth). Still, if a person eats a balanced diet with the recommended amounts of fruits and vegetables, they should not become deficient.

Since most people eat and drink a variety of foods and beverages throughout the day, most people will get the salts and minerals they need from these other sources.

It is not dangerous to drink distilled water as part of a balanced diet. A balanced diet should include foods that replace any minerals lost through sweat.



What are the potential benefits of drinking distilled water?

Distilled water does have potential advantages. These may include:

Cleansing the body with pure water: When drinking distilled water, a person is consuming water with no other additives. Because distilled water is pure, some people believe that it can be cleansing for the body, though data on this are limited.
Reducing the risk of disease: Distillation removes waterborne pathogens. Most waterborne disease-causing bacteria do not survive distillation.

Ensure to always use a well ventilated area for inverter installation. The inverter battery gets heated up during charging and operation. An airy place reduces the heating up of the battery. It also reduces the frequent water topping requirement.
After installation use battery on a regular basis. If the power cut does not occur, discharge the battery completely once every month and then recharge it.
Check the water level of battery every two months. Ensure that the water level is maintained between the maximum and minimum water limit. Always top up the battery with our Smartcell distilled water. Do not use tap water or rain water as it contains excess minerals and impurities which affect the lifespan and performance of the battery on the short run.
Always keep the surface and sides of battery clean and dust free. Use cotton cloth to clean these surfaces.
Keep the battery terminals corrosion free and rust free. If the terminals get corroded pour hot water + baking soda solution on the corrosive area or use a tooth brush for cleaning. This will remove the corrosion. Once the terminals become corrosion free, apply petroleum jelly or Vaseline on to the terminals, nuts and bolts to avoid future corrosion. Rusting and corrosion are very bad for battery performance. Rusting in terminals reduces the current flow to and from from the battery. This restricted flow of current results in slow battery charging which ultimately reduces battery life.
Be careful that the vents around battery are dust free and open. Blocked vents lead to hydrogen gas accumulation, which may lead to bursting of battery.
From safety point of view, install the inverter at safe places in your home which is out of the reach of children or a less used area. But at the same time make sure that it is airy and properly ventilated.
Replace your battery if it is dead or damaged. Regular inspection will keep you updated on your inverter and battery conditions.

Check the water level of battery every two months. Ensure that the water level is maintained between the maximum and minimum water limit. Always top up the battery with our Smartcell distilled water. Do not use tap water or rain water as it contains excess minerals and impurities which affect the lifespan and performance of the battery on the short run.
Always keep the surface and sides of battery clean and dust free. Use cotton cloth to clean these surfaces.
Keep the battery terminals corrosion free and rust free. If the terminals get corroded pour hot water + baking soda solution on the corrosive area or use a tooth brush for cleaning. This will remove the corrosion. Once the terminals become corrosion free, apply petroleum jelly or Vaseline on to the terminals, nuts and bolts to avoid future corrosion. Rusting and corrosion are very bad for battery performance. Rusting in terminals reduces the current flow to and from from the battery. This restricted flow of current results in slow battery charging which ultimately reduces battery life.
Be careful that the vents around battery are dust free and open. Blocked vents lead to hydrogen gas accumulation, which may lead to bursting of battery.
From safety point of view, install the inverter at safe places in your home which is out of the reach of children or a less used area. But at the same time make sure that it is airy and properly ventilated.
Replace your battery if it is dead or damaged. Regular inspection will keep you updated on your inverter and battery conditions.

If a prospect is looking at Lifepo4 which is a better Option If he has the budget for it.. wouldn't suggest 10kwh at all .. there are only few lifepo4 rated 10kwh that are actually rated 10kwh .. He might be having issues with Power drain before the 8 hours on each cycle..

Best best is either he picks at 48V 15kwh lifepo4 or Stack up 2 units of 48V 7.5kwh lifepo4..
