Students of secondary schools are currently protesting in the streets of Bauchi over a new policy by the government to separate boys from girls in schools.

Students officially resumed school today (Monday) across the state.

Vanguard had reported that Bauchi State Commissioner for Education, Mr Aliyu Tilde, said the State government has concluded plans to separate male and female students in secondary schools in the state.

Tilde, while addressing newsmen after a State Executive Council (SEC) meeting in Bauchi, noted that it would only be executed whenever and wherever it was possible.

He explained that the idea was to address moral decadence, which he said has become prevalent among students of secondary schools.

According to him, private schools would take a cue from the initiative and separate the males who would be attending their academic activities in one institution and the females in another separate institution.

This is why The Elites dont want Northeners to go to School and get Education

Once the average Aboki is enlightened
They realize they have been living in bondage
The Elites won't be able to control them
The Elites can't impose rules on them.

That's why Boko H. hates Western education
Because it will open the eyes of an average Northener

1.I can't laugh at this...so boys are angry...like this.

2.I can see the religion bit behind this well well.

3.Having said that...segregating schools by gender can be beneficial to women's education. When the Ayatollahs took over Iran in 1979, they segregated the schools up to tertiary level by gender....and with that, no one, most of all the ultraconservative muslim who won't send his daughter to school because she would mix with strange boys...had any more excuse not to send his daughter to school...so literacy among women went up.(The fact that the Ayatollah Khomeni's daughters were educated up to university too also helped).

As much as this is funny and pathetic, I don't see why we should have a school only for Boys, or for Girls.

I would have supported the protest if it was from the parents/guardians

Even hardline Iranians are protesting against hijab and Bauchi is tinkering with Sharia law in a state that is almost divided between Muslims and Christians

The only thing constant in this life is change . It's either you join the trend or get rolled over by the force of change ....

Theres a wave of change in the world currently and this change is driven by the internet, the western culture of freedom and self love is being promoted and it is appealing to everyone who has been "held down" by one form of idealogy or the other be it religious or cultural

But what this freedom will gradually breed in western societies and in the world at large is depravity.

There's no limit to how low a human can go that was why we had cultures and traditions in the first place To check these excesses

In this age and time when serious societies are advancing in sporadic artificial intelligence, our government is introducing new measures on moral policing. What a shame!

Why the protest?

Exactly the way Yoruba and Fulani wail and protest on nairaland at the mention of Biafra separating from Nigeria.

Must those boys stay with the girls?
Must Nigeria be in same country with Igbo?

Gen Zz cannot take it o... their brains have been sexualized to irredeemable dimensions grin grin

And to those shouting Islam above, this is not a new development as most catholic secondary (boarding) schools operate this format. At the federal level, there were/are many single gender FGCs from time immemorial.

Stop with the religious and tribalistic nonsense. angry angry

What's tha business?
