He is right on money.
This has nothing to do with import restriction on say rice. Trade policies.
It's about Naira-Dollar - Moniteray policy.
Nigeria should restrict import of rice/etc without using dollars.
It should do that by simply raising the import duties for foreign rice.

The Zoo moniterary policy is crazy. Last happened in Kenya in 1990s. What Obi is seeking to do - Kenya did in early 1990s.

You could make your points without insults... Moving on

A country like Nigeria needs import restrictions else our currency would free fall a thousand fold. Like why were we importing toothpick? Makes no sense when we have plenty of wood. Even in China, it was restrictions like these that helped their economy in the long run

I agree with you on this. Government was trying to do this recently especially with the telecommunications which has in total 206 million users ( because some people are active in at least two lines). We have by far the largest number of active internet subscribers in Africa at 109 million people. Second largest is Egypt with 78 million people. These are the areas we should focus on but Nigerians would protest and hold the Government by the jugular and this is election period.
This is already taking place in Nigeria. Transaction via mobile payment are taxed.

Delta Airline recently made 12B dollars loss and US gave US airline COVID-19 package of $25 billion. Let just say Airline business is beyond Nigeria abilities.

KQ carries millions of passengers.

samorobo:

But now KQ is not making profit and that’s all that matters.

We figured Nigeria air would go the BBC shameful route like KW abd we decided to dissolve it to avoid the Shane but instead went the American way that doesn’t have a national carrier but has numerous profit making private carrier they holds the stitches of their aviation sector . KQ is a mess, bring something else up- we trashed this already.

Why do you guys like giving Ruto credits which are not his? The guy is barely a month since he became the president and with that frame time, he can't negotiate any deal that it's results can be seen within 24 days. Just to be honest with you, right now Ruto is still enjoying the fruits of UHURU.
What I'm talking about rotates within ruto's ideals.

I know you won't understand why I'm hyping him. Here is the case: Ruto is OUR president. Yes, he's already our father; Not the father of kalenjins but the whole of Kenya.
If we keep displaying his flaws to strangers, that will be an own goal. I'm here to defend even Kenyan - extremists || thieves murderous and whatnot... || As long as they carry the image of Kenya. That does not mean I won't criticize him in our local spheres.

Thanks.

Exactly, although we import refined products not oil directly.
Immediately we have refineries that can meet demand, we'll ban importation of refined products soonest. That's why I have hope of what dangote refinery would do

I accepted Ruto's Presidency long time ago. But please, don't try to give him credit on someone's else effort. When Uhuru and Safaricom was negotiating Ethiopia's entry, Ruto was more of an opposition than the government. The guy opposed everything Uhuru tried to do just to make himself relevant. There was a point his allies (Mudavadi) said that Uhuru should stop building roads cause people can't eat roads. I'm sure the day that road will be launched you will be here again praising Ruto.

My humble request to you is this. Just wait for Ruto to launch his own projects and start praising him, infact I'll join you all in praising him.

Nigerians are way more productively than your shithole citizens get thaf into your skull.

Reason for low tax collection in Nigeria is because the government have refused to tax businesses, especially the informal sector. But the federal government is already planning to expand our tax net, and there was improvement since 2021.
Who fooled you. Out of a whopping 230m Nigerians, 140M are slum dwellers - extremely poor.
In 2019, you had only 27M out of 210M being productive. That is waaay below average.

Re: Kenyans Are Far Behind Nigerians In Every Aspect – Fani-Kayode by rvp2018: 11:58am On Oct 07, 2022
Ruto was engine of Jubilee 1.0 that delivered SGR in record time, delivered almost 10K rural roads, delivered world fastest electrification and were reward with second term with 5% more votes. Ruto delivered on technical education.

Ruto also was behind Big 4. Ruto opposed Uhuru attempt to amend constitution in BBI and to divert from Big 4 - launching crazy unbudgeted projects like Mashujaa thing in Langata. Ruto is manifesto is BIg 4 plus MSME. Ruto has been consistent, and Uhuru tried to play political games to extend his term. If Uhuru had allowed Ruto to oversee Big 4 - we would be very far.

Uhuru was punished by votes together with his project for wasting kenya money and time in useless political projects.

We are back to big 4 - Housing for all - 1 million units from 0.5m that Jubilee had promised - Ruto has committed to double the efforts to compensate for waste of entire 5yr tenure spent on BBI and other shenanigans. Manufacturing, Food security and Healthcare.

The only addition is Hustler Fund - to inject money to the informal sector.

I get you, don't worry.

What I posted is not entirely his thing. But the license negotiation will see Safaricom's revenue exponential growth! Which is part and parcel of his achievement.

So relax.

You’re not building any behemoth of a bank with a DRC base.

The county is shit, it has a non existent economy.

Banking is not DRC main problem right now, it’s food.

Folks are hungry, nobody is going to save any money when they have not eaten two square meals a day.

The number of registered company doing business in DRC with significant funds is not up to 500.

The banking policy in that country is shit, you’re not going to make any profit or turn over that will suddenly make you overtake nigeria or SA in DRC, not even in the next 20 years.

Finally someone spoke my mind. DRC is the armpit of Africa. A top notch shiithole, they ain’t no money there. The fools would loose their shirt there.

I personally don't like that Idea also it contradicts what he said about consumption to production, if he does this, he could set back the gains Buhari made in agriculture by years. Its not good at all.
I don't agree with him.

You can't lie when you're obtuse. Gain knowledge first.

"According to the Small & Medium Enterprises Development Agency of Nigeria (SMEDAN)’s MSME National Survey Report issued July 2019, total MSMEs in Nigeria were estimated at about 41.5 million, with Lagos constituting the bulk of the quoted number for a state (about 11.5%). The MSMEs, which contribute 48% of Nigeria’s GDP, generated over 59 million jobs as at December 2017, with 2.9 million jobs created by enterprises mainly in the education sector. MSMEs are categorized according to the number of assets owned by the business excluding land and buildings (R) and number of employees (E) per the National Bureau of Statistics; however, this differs from the categorization for tax by the tax authorities:

micro (R:5 million, E:10 persons);
small (R:5 to less than 50 million, E: 10–49 persons);
medium (R:50 to less than 500 million, E:50–199 persons)."

Nigeria has consistently led the continent in the ratio of informal sector contribution to total GDP since 2010. The government, which has continually enabled the sector via specific provisions in the National Tax Policy, 2017 (NTP) and Finance Act, 2019, has enlisted supporting MSMEs as a strategic objective with incentives on income tax and value-added tax (VAT) obligations.

Not implemented yet. In my own opinion 5% is too much considering the size of Nigeria's market. 2- 3 % is reasonable.

But I was actually talking about electronic money transfer levy.

I know the federal reserve can print dollars and pay off debts. One thing you should take note of is that any amount printed outside the outcome of value creation is worthless. Ask yourself why USA is yet to repay $1000billions to China. Fear of DOLLAR SLUMP! Consequences? High inflation, economic meltdown, currency depreciation, and whatnot. This attempt will sink the nation further into an economic crisis.

The value of money is how much people are willing to give for it. It doesn't matter whether you have actual influence over it or not.

Agreed but USA is still not a good model to look up to in terms of debts because they still have it easier than others in terms of debt repayment. Others would have the problem of not being able to print some additional dollars as a last measure.
