Hi again,
How long does a statement of purpose have to be?
Re: Canadian Student Visa Thread Part 22 by Cadygosh: 1:26pm On Oct 09, 2022
Like seriously? so cause of 2 full stops, that means this my account is also fake, make una fear God na.. so if we are to go by ur analysis, it means all the several monikers using the word Peace too are also fake accounts na, cos we know Makano is the only one here that ends all his posts with Peace.. Bro, you can't even work with FBI, because of fullstops now u are dragging Makano into this again.. Wahala. And point of correction, if you are obsevant enough with my posts, you will see that I do not only talk about Makano here but other gurus like Frank and Justmellow..

Tgbengus151:
Is it a coincidence that the both profiles end each sentence with 2 full-stops? You people should be smart enough when you are talking to yourself with your burner account.

The Candycrash account was created less than 2 months ago and the only thing he has been doing here is defending the "gurus" (Makano in particular mostly). No solid contribution to thread other than turning himself to a defender of the universe of nairaland "gurus".

Mikano, i hope you are not the one behind the account because it will be very shameful and only prove the Express/Eagleeye person right. That person was supposed to be the clown here but if his assertion about you was right, then we all know who the clown is.

The need to be tagged as a "guru" among the other "gurus" here is so obvious. Some weird inferiority complex stuff.

Alright, here is the #UglyTruth.

Every International Student "begged to apply" with full assurance that they will not require the Canada welfare system to cater for themselves and tuition costs. Education is a profitable business for every nation, hence it is an exploitable resource model for national gains. It is well established that there is a legitimate pathway for students to become permanent residence, however, until that is achieved, the Canada welfare system do not owe you any obligation other than to satisfy their contract to providing you with the quality education you paid for.

Now, as per the removed 20hrs working cap for International Students, your employer wont force you to work during school periods unless you choose to out of greed or anything else (financial situations). Every enrolled student have their coure schedules for the week, and no employer will have the right to demand you to skip classes for work, International Labour Laws wont allow that.

Now onto students working low wage jobs, you see, that is entirely the students' choice. there are lots of menial jobs here that even an untrained poodle can perform which international and even grad students go for, it is no ones fault really. they simply pick their poison. I particularly saw tons of those menial jobs, but i opted to bide my time and look for something both profitable and valuable to do and right now i am on track to achieving that which will position me to practice my trade and continue my Nigerian work experience there in canada. If i had gone and pitched with the menial jobs, that will set the tone of my continuing professional career.

Every province have their minimum wage, and no employer will pay less than that. not legally anyway, hence there is no way they are exploiting international students based on relative wage payments. You are only working part-time, not expierienced in the field, and cannot demand to be paid relative to practicing professionals. It is not like 9ja where your wage is not objectively calculated, but rather every role and skills profile determines how much above the minimum wage a person is paid. A student however, is still learning, and can be engaged professionally as an associate (which is just above minimum wage because you are more like an intern) i think. I may be wrong though, but that is my perception.

Canada is not running a santa clause education system, they invest a lot on it to attract clients (international students) hence, cannot be operating it at a loss to appeal to student's good graces. they already have scholarship schemes which are earned based on steep competition.

Every student is responsible for managing and maintaining his/her mental health. We are adults, we can't demand a system to nurse us until we pass on na.

I do not think they are exploiting students, but rather even taking strategic actions to support their integration and future prospects.
what do you think considering the above though?

bepositive11:

They're jumping because they don't understand that they're being exploited. They don't understand that they're being used to do low skilled work with low wages that Canadian locals won't tolerate.

I thought I was the only one who could see this but I checked Reddit and found that local Canadians share the same sentiment with me.

First, Canada asks international students to pay 4 times the tuition fee of what a local would pay. Now they're encouraging us to work for more than 20 hours while studying full time because of "labour shortage". They're claiming that it will help us pay our fees and living expenses.

How will it affect academic performance? How will it affect student's mental health? How will it protect students when they're working? Employers would of course prefer to employ students willing to work longer hours, so it's a race to the bottom because all students will be pressured to work for longer hours.

And mind you, if a student should fail courses and have to repeat them in a part time semester, they won't be eligible for a PGWP.

Canada is not doing international students a favour with this law. They're doing themselves a favour and exploiting students. If they really want to help us, they'll start by lowering our tuition fees.

I'm still opting for Canada, but at that time, I was sad to realise this dark truth.

Re: Canadian Student Visa Thread Part 22 by bepositive11: 2:46pm On Oct 09, 2022
You're missing my point...

If you go to farmlands in Canada, you will see that local Canadians don't work there. They bring workers from Mexico, Jamaica, etc. From countries willing to tolerate the low wages and poor working conditions.

In the same way, you won't see local Canadians doing the kind of jobs that *most* international students do. Some work in warehouses, some in factories, etc.

Sure, there are professional jobs but how many international students will get accepted? Especially given that they lack the all time famous "Canadian experience". International students struggle to get such positions, especially when they first come to Canada.

Canada won't be able to function if international students didn't do those low skilled and low paid jobs. And yes, they have a choice to work for only 20 hours, but think about this. If you had an open job position and you needed to hire workers to cover 40 hours a week.

If 2 students offered to work for 20 hours each but another student agreed to work for 40 hours, who would you employ? Won't you employ that 1 student willing to work for 40 hours because you only have to train 1 person? And then, won't those other 2 students be pressured to work for 40 hours to get the job? That's the race to the bottom I'm talking about.

And yes, adults are responsible for their mental health, but when they're put in such a desperate situation and being taken advantage of, what other choice do they have?

I've already seen a number of threads on other online forums by students sharing their struggles with mental health because of the stress of studying and working to pay their tuition fees and living expenses.

This 20 hour thing doesn't affect me at all because I already have a professional job offer with good pay waiting for me. You are also well on your way to a comfortable professional job too, but what about those who are not in our position?

Whether we choose to see it or not, international students are being exploited. That's the sad truth.

Please i got rejected on 3rd of this month, do you think it’s advisable i apply now? Or I should wait a little? My application was rejected due to financial reasons though i had 14m on the proof of funds I submitted for a 4years undergraduate program.
I want to reapply now but with a different proof of funds of over 50m and some other documents I didn’t submit during my first application. Should i go ahead? Or just chill?.

Call it whatever you want but as long as they are being paid that is all that matters. Besides, Justin did say in his speech that the additional hours are to assist employers especially as we are approaching the holiday season in the labour shortage so yeah basically he did admit that they are 'exploiting' international student but the way I see it is a win-win situation. You are the only one that I have seen who isn't happy but that's fine I guess it is the lack of experience you aren't in Canada and haven't experienced the hardship so........ No hard feelings though I also don't have any experience I get my facts from others.
Secondly, bro or sis anyone you are you are making demands like you have a right to. Among the three top countries to school in Canada is the cheapest, UK and America are soooooo expensive and I am saying this from experience imagine with how low their fees are their schools are still ranked among the top best in the world. You are making demands like you have a right to and I will be honest with you it is fu**ing annoying Canada isn't begging anyone there is UK and Germany. No one will force you to work anywhere and most campus have jobs for students who are willing to work if you can't find one off campus you will surely find one on campus. Look the world doesn't revolve around you bro/sis in this situation you are the begger. Begger don't get to be choosers you take what you can get or just stay in your country. Thank you and God bless.

You are not wrong, however, hierarchy, classism, blue collar, labour exploitation is a part of our societal reality.

Nations always have citizen classes.

As per the international students, every individual have his/her values to uphold. Even if you let some students, they will work 100 hours a week. What am i even saying, there have been instances where Nigerian students work 100 hours weekly, and this one is not them say. It makes you ask, who is exploiting who?

14m is way too small for 4yrs. If you can get like 50m and have a co sponsor like parents or siblings that will be nice.

Calculate your tuition fee for a year then x4 years
your living expenses for a year x4
Miscellaneous for a year x4

the total should be your Pof. Then the account must have excess after removing this to show that not all the money will be spent on your education

Even if you have for 3 years and explain how you will get the expenses for the 4th year, it will still be okay

Try to get your plans intact before you apply again.

Very true. It's a painful reality. We may claim that we have abolished slavery and human exploitation, but the truth is that exploitation has just taken another shape and form -- we call them blue collar jobs, etc. And it's present even in the most developed nations.

But another interesting fact is that, those who end up in those positions in developed nations are usually the immigrants -- the non natives. Canada hides some of their exploitation in the name of "international students".

It's sad to know that there are students willing and pushed to work for over 100 hours, but I guess they themselves benefit from the exploitation. So it probably isn't a problem after all? I guess whether or not it is "exploitation", it really comes down to the perception of the individual.

But I'm sure that if they had better choices and opportunities, they'd rather not work for that many hours.

Hi lawlah no one writes your story better than you. In life you make your choices and create your opportunities.

Bottom line is, every one takes responsibility for everyone's actions and the consequence thereof.

We can't cry foul when we claim to have the well-wither to cater for our financial needs all through the study period, then game the system. However, when we arrive there, and reality sets in with the need to work multiple and extra shifts we start crying inhumanty at the system when we are simply enjoying the consequences of our actions.

The Indegenes / Natives as you call it, you cannot go to a mans house and want to occupy the master bedroom now do you? At best you show gratitude for being give the guest room, or else, take a hike and get yosef a hotel where you can relish the luxury of your own spending... get my drift?

The system is balanced in my perception, you get better when you do better.

The #UglyTruth is, this japa waka is not for everybody. If it is not for your and you force yourself and game the system to get in, it will chew you up and spit you out worse than before you left your country. It is everywhere like that.

So the notes I ordered since August 5th finally came yesterday, that is after 2 months. Now, the date on the note says September 14th… so that was when they ordered the notes I requested for since August… Secondly, note had just 14 pages of nothing… Eligibility was saying “review required” as per dem never touch my file.

Now these notes were ordered like 10days before my refusal.. shouldn’t it have the refusal detail?
It had my mails up until August 15.

The final decision is blank…

I don’t understand, this is October so it should have the refusal details at least or have some details about my application up until September… How come eligibility that started since May 4 didn’t reflect?

Or is my file still being worked on?

And do i order another one?

I even sent them a mail asking if it’s complete because i know even after biometrics, notes should be upto 36+ pages… so how can they present me with 14pages after 6 months?

What to do?

@7COLOURS, any news about yours?
