Good day! So I’m wondering if people still dump long healthy and lasting relationships for genotype sagas.

Cos I’m not about to lose a very healthy and long lasting 10yrs relationship for nothing.

Do people still dump themselves for this blood Genotype issues, or there are alternatives, this 2022 it’s been long I heard close relatives or friends having issues like that, I’m probably not exposed enough tho.

We both As in genetype, and I’m working on finding a better way to make this work, she’s all I’ve got fr and I’m already in my early 30s.

I’m not a fan of too many child, you can be a great parent even with adoption, but I still want a child with her exactly. She’s has to look like her self lol

Pls what’s your take, can I have this girl to myself or is still the shout of quit?

There's nothing healthy about banging someone's daughter for 10 years!

If you are rich, you can opt for IVF so they can do selective implantation via advanced NIPT screening for the sickle cell trait.

If you can't afford it, I don't know how you'll do it cause 10 years is a long time to have wasted the time of that woman.

With all the awareness going on about sickle cell and genotype compatibility, it feels like you just crawled out of the stone age where the topic is concerned.

Someone suggested I VF already.

I think you can check the foetus and abort if it's SS too. That's another option too.

Meet a doctor specialised in this. He will give you options.

Don't dump each other yet.

Explore all and every available options .

There are solutions to these things now.

I knew about the IVF where the foetus get tested before growing, and that’s the only slimmer chance I’ve been holding unto, I heard it’s cost around 2-4m or so. Believe me you we’ve have to do than growing babies and we both have more to lose leaving each other.

As + As is a no go area.
One girl was crying heavily in our lab the last time when they came to do screening test.
They were negative to all the test but their genotypes were As and it was damn hell for her because she wants to get married at all cost and to the man because according to her she loves the guy so much.
So my dear, you better separate from her now than it's too late

We have AA AS then SS options for us, so which of them is a follow come disease? Don’t forget we have people on this forum with same blood, and why narrowing it down to the last option, forgetting our first child can be AA and we done . Lol we should stop been primitive in this part of the world, so I should dump someone with prospects all because I want be having babies.

I've seen many sickle cell children cursing their parents for the pain they are going through. You should understand better what a child must have been passing through to curse her parent.

I know you won't want this kind of situation for yourself.

It's better to let go of each other now, than to later marry each other and be regretting it for the rest of your life.
If you don't even think about yourselves, think about the child that might be unfortunate with the sickle cell.

And meanwhile, when I said all I’ve got, i don’t mean been materialistic tho, we both ain’t.

It actually costs more than that.

Regular NIPT is around 250k.

NIPT that tests for chromosomal anomalies cost more, the one for sickle cell costs around 500-700k.

The IVF for sickle cell procedure costs more too.

Hope you sha get the money?

Having children in your case maybe expensive financial wise.

Hopefully you will be able to have the finance required for it. One or two kids are just okay

Have a good life !

Well if I have I can give it up, just that once lol and I have 45% moving prospects to achieve anything to bring us together.

When we thinking about making babies, we should also thinking about making money for the babies.

Tnks tho, learnt the other option is cheaper and safer, I mean checking the foetus before growing, and who knows our first hit could be a twin with AA it’s an option too my father had three twin, my uncles did too plus I shoot a lot.

The earlier you start pulling out of that relationship the better. Everything is not about love. This your excuses of being in your 30s or a 10 years old relationship are very selfish reasons. What about the child that might come out of this? Have you thought about the medical issues he/she will encounter?

However, you can still have a successful marriage with her. But have it in mind that you must not have any child with her naturally. You can opt for IVF (if you're capable).

Having a child with sickle cell is not just a stress to the family, but a big stress to the child. He/she might even hate you for putting him in that condition. Such situation should be avoided.

I still wonder why people don't talk about this Genotype of a thing till they want to get married. Personally, I feel that should be one of the first questions to ask a potential mate before even dating.

Bro, sometimes breakup is healthy. What matters most is how you do it. If you feel you can cope well with child/children who aren't biologically yours, then you can go ahead and wed her. But make sure she's okay with your plan for adoption. Otherwise breakup would've saved you both from committing to a lifetime trauma.
