Oblivion34: But your reasoning is not telling you that FG do not need to beg ASUU but they should always honor agreement signed by unions. Did FG renege on agreement or not? Did FG refute the concerns raised about IPPIS? Did FG not spending unnecessarily to other causes but can't fund education to a minimum? You better face your government first before holding ASUU 1 Like |

All university workers in Federal universities are impacted by this non payment of salary during the striking period. If FG pays ASUU and doesn’t pay other unions that’s when problem will start . They should pay us our salary is a condition SSANU , NAAT and NASU gave while suspending the strike. FG breached the agreement which resulted in this strike and allowed it linger You can’t compel any individual to lecture or attend to students when there’s nothing in his /her pocket. Universities are opened but no lecturing will be on going . Cc : Oblivion34 2 Likes 1 Share |

In everything, let's go back to the root of the problem. What is the base cause of this strike? Unfulfilled necessities of over a decade. There you have it. Of course the FG can decide to withhold their salaries. Nothing stops them from doing that; not even a court order. We know who'd suffer the consequences of disgruntled employees. 1 Like 1 Share |

Uyi168: Okay student get the unfair time wasting, Lecturers should get no salary according to you right? So what should the federal government get? Most of you have brain but don't think. Who started the whole issue? Was it not the federal government that failed to keep to an agreement since all these years? Or you don't have measure of punishment for them? 2 Likes 1 Share |

DesChyko: Most of the kids blaming ASUU are surely daft. Imagine them saying government should uphold the no work no pay policy.. And I ask them, if the Lecturers are not paid as their punishment,. What's the measure of punishment for the useless federal government as well? After all they were the one that reneged on the agreement they had with ASUU.. 2 Likes 1 Share |

This question is needless, and borders on insensitivity. How about we ask if the EndSars protesters deserved to be maimed or killed??! Yet, no one is asking the real question: Does the education sector not deserve far more than what is being allocated to it yearly by this government of crooks and corrupt infidels?!! |

ASUU should be praise for sustaining the University system and other higher institutions in Nigeria. Any objective mind should visit any university whether old or new and take the statistics of their infrastructures, you will observe that all of them are Tetfund initiative, which is attributable to ASUU' s effort. So we should stop all these nonsense concerning them. More grease to your elbow ASUU, please continue to fight the cause of common man, because as for our so called leaders, their own children are not in Nigeria. 1 Like 1 Share |

Ekweremadu that has been in the UK since how many months now is receiving salaries. 20 years after his tenure as Lagos state governor, Tinubu has never missed his allowances. So why can't the government pay lecturers after failing to meet their part of the deal? If workers decide to accept this no work, no pay policy, government will surely weaponise poverty across board. They're already torturing the common man, including those who called themselves APC u.rchins. Many of them can no longer afford Chicken Republic rice yet rooting for politicians with private jets and oil wells The citizens are the problems of this country. The federal government right now has budgeted Obasanjo and Jonathan's allowances for 2023 yet na lecturers be una problem. Lazy yoots! This suffering must surely go round but one thing is sure, it will never touch those in government - the same people you all support. 1 Like 1 Share |

shortIGBOman: What was stopping them from doing so for the past 8 months? They are many private universities in Nigeria and abroad that will gladly absorb them, in the same our medical and technology personnel have been drained away from the country. And who is suffering from this? We Nigerians. |

Oblivion34: (Note..I agree with you , but I want to draw your attention to some things) 1.ASUU goes on strike repeatedly because universites...need money. 2.No Nigerian university is in the top 100, or even top 500 global universities in the world...plus we cannot do advanced research in many things...for idnsutry, healthcare, etc...because...poor funding. 3.ASUU members want to work with high quality equipment, labs, libraries, lecture halls, and want better welfare for themselves, students and other staff. 4.Government rightly tells ASUU every time that the money is not sufficent. 5.So how do we stop ASUU from going on strike....raise fees. To levels like 1 million naira and above. You don't like? But you just basically said that ASUU is wrong to go on strike. Either fees go up, or in ten years private universites will surpass public universites. Guess who suffers more...the poor. |

As for me, I will support the "no work, no pay " option, whatever they've been doing for 8months should pay them, they and the FG can't subject the students into unwarranted conditions and expect to smile at the end of it all... Their salaries should be withheld until they cover the 8months lapses on the students. 1 Like |

What a very stupid question to ask, imagine working for months without pay! Bills pilling up, your kids are in school, you've got to pay their fees, clothe them, pay rent and sort other things. At your leisure time, think about this then have your answer! |

Oblivion34: This is the most senseless post i have ever seen in my life.. "My people surfer because of lack of knowledge" when you have no clue or understanding about a thing just STFU, no student is happy with the strike, However have you thought or seen the state of our educational system, you haven't seen students sitting on the floor to receive lectures ?... well during my time it happened , so oga go and read or make research as you lack, wisdom knowledge and understanding whatsoever. 1 Like |
