It is not mandatory
If you are buoyant financially , it's good to take care of your brother/sister children when the need arise.
Be it your brother/sister are dead or alive .

don't have any orhaned nephews/cousin ,I was the orphan in question.

not necessarily , besides a child (which I was at that time) is prone to ill behaviours ,still doesn't justify such words
