As I said earlier, nothing is wrong with talking about safety measures, but both your post's reeked of victim blaming and I think it's too early for that. I just think that one's first reaction to an unfortunate incident should be empathy, not victim blaming.
You are outrightly blaming his mother for negligence irrespective of the fact that the grieving mother may very well be doing the same.

The Lagos State Police Command on Tuesday said eight domestic workers were brought in for questioning in connection with the death of Davido’s son, Ifeanyi Adeleke.

The state Police Public Relations Officer, Benjamin Hundeyin, who confirmed the development to our correspondent, said the domestic workers’ narrations would assist the command in ascertaining the circumstances surrounding the death of the three-year-old boy.

Hundeyin, however, said anyone not found culpable would be released immediately, adding the ones found culpable of negligence would be held back to assist the command in the ongoing investigation.

Hundeyin said, “His (Ifeanyi’s) death is confirmed. His (Davido’s) domestic workers have been brought in for questioning and anybody found not culpable will be allowed to go immediately.

“About eight of them were brought in to narrate their version of what happened to assist us in getting what really happened.

“At the end of their narrations, whoever that is found not guilty of negligence or not culpable in anyway will be allowed to go.

“Anybody found culpable will stay back to assist us in further investigation. The domestic workers are about eight that were brought in.”

the davido you are defending is not ready to take responsibility and is doing the exact thing you are criticizing others for - trying to blame this on someone else. in this case the poor suckers who work for him. Dbanj took his L - but this manchild wantS to blame someone else for his open swimming pool.

One is to remind people how unsafe South East is. Rumors have it that Eboh media died since 12th of last month yet it hasn't made the news considering how impactful his video( I always enjoy his night life series)

The other is for those who have a degree in economics from their mother's kitchen. It is becoming clear that lot of sticky new money is coming into circulation

Everywhere in Nigeria is unsafe, like, every single place in Nigeria. From the creeks and street of the south south in rivers bayelsa and Edo where cultism and militancy reigns supreme to the SE where kidnappings and agitation has grown multiple ugly heads to south west where bloodshed, street crime and occultism reign supreme to north central where kidnappings are a daily occurrence to the entire north where banditry, kidnappings, terrorism, excessive poverty reigns supreme.

Besides, why single out a single region?? What's the motive behind that?
Every single region of Nigeria is plagued by insecurity. I'm surprised you will specifically mention a particular region.

We are now the second most terrorized nation in the world thanks to the incompetence of the APC which you still support till date.

It's ridiculous that the police are trying to determine 'neglect' rather than whether a criminal offence was commited.
How do they define 'neglect'?

Truth be told, Children are difficult to keep an eye on - They can disappear in the blink of an eye. And given their celebrity lifestyle, I'd be very surprised if Davido and Chioma were particularly hands on parents - that being said I also expect that adequate care should have been taken to child proof their house.

A solid pool cover costs nothing. If you know you have a little boy in the house and haven't taken steps to at least cover your pool, then that's negligence on your part.

even worse in a big ass mansion with multiple rooms and a large compound. i am sure the nannies were all used to the boy vanishing - though as someone else put it, davidos crew were also living there - the nannies probably had a secondary urgent job of collecting dk ; so they may not have been as attentive as they should have been

Banks in #Kenya are selling the dollar at between Sh130 and Sh131, while buying the same at between Sh117 and Sh119, with bankers saying the higher prices have been driven by demand and the cost of accessing the hard currency on their part. Patrick Heinisch

shagging the help is a nigerian tradition.

whether it is oga doing it, or someone else in the house.

and knowing davido and chioma, they probably got some fyne gal nannies not the older mature , frumpy dull looking ones

i actually did some googling to see if i could find pictures of any of the nannies - but right now any davido search will bring up this matter

I don't do that o. I am a family man. I just have an outreach program in which i counsel young ladies about the vicissitudes of life. I don't beat about the bush because life is serious. I give them the thrust of it, encourage them, pump them up, and lecture them in toto.

A simple proof will suffice or I expect your apologies. Not everyone has an agenda or is filled with bigotry and hate. I mentioned a particular geopolitical zone because should this incident happen in the North, there will be tons of pages on Nairaland: condemning the incident, condemning the perpetrators, condemning a religion and sometimes condemning a whole region made up of atleast the Fulani, the Jukun, the Tiv, the Hausa,.the Nupe.

I will appreciate if you, Donjazet, in your capacity as an LP member(former house of Representatives aspirant who lost the partyprimary) here on Nairaland who leads the great battle against tribalism will simply condemn this kinsmen of yours(quoting Soludo) .
Thanks

They start teaching swimming before age 1 in Australia, which is probably why they always pack gold medals at the Olympics. The issue isn't teaching the baby how to swim, it is having a swimming pool that is not child-proof.

It is heartbreaking news.
You're right doc. Davido obviously didn't take a lesson from dbanj's

I don’t beat around the bush with those younglings. You need to handle them with authority so they don’t embrace the dark side.

With this Davido and Dbanj issue I am thinking it's probably not a good idea to have a pool at home if you have kids in the house. Your mind will never be at rest you might be sleeping or cooking and the kid would sneak out to the pool. And about locks there will be a day someone will forget or the kid will figure out how to open it

Probably it's my knee-jerk reaction to this loss

It’s not knee jerk. It’s a really sad story and this is more painful cos this is not one anonymous child of a celebrity. This boy was growing up practically in front of all us. Right from infancy.

You can but you have to take all the precautions possible. Extreme child proofing:

Pool fence
Pool covers
Pool alarm
Swimming lessons. Pros outweighs Cons.

The safest thing for a house with toddlers though is no pool. It is just less draining and safer.

I am with you.. it’s not worth the stress with crawling infants and toddlers at home, preschoolers maybe…that’s a big maybe sef. E go shock you how pikin go disappear for your front.

During summer/ winter months, there are numerous cases of parents leaving their kids locked inside the car, leading to death or serious hospitalization. Many of those parents are not bad parents. Infact, many swore they had their kid with them when they left the car.

More importantly, parents, if you have a pool, STOP TRYING TO TEACH INFANTS/ TODDLERS & how to swim by YOURSELF. Wait until they become preschoolers or school aged, by then their vital organs are stronger, especially their lungs, then take them to a PROFESSIONAL (I can’t stress this part enough) for lessons.
