Please do this all the time you encounter an officer, it is the best you can do. Also, if for any reason the interaction gets tensed or the officer becomes aggressive, depending on the State, please ask if his body cam is active and recording, it has a way of resetting some of them.

Again, there are great officers who risk their lives to keep us safe, some of them have seen the worst things you can ever imagine. Some have had their partners killed in the line of duty during stops and that trauma lives with them, many are young parents who want to do their job and just go home to their family.....

But I also know there are some who are just out to get you, test your limits, the ones who are intoxicated by the power of the gun, the ones who were bullies in high school and decided to join the Police to continue.

I have been stopped by a policeman before and truly my registration tag had expired. A white cop I spoke to him the same way you addressed the cop, and he let me go and even gave me the name of the store to renew my registration tag.

The policemen are human too and if you address them aggressively they will likely match your energy and if you address them responsibly they will likely treat you with respect and you cannot match their wahala because they have guns and authority
