I hope we are still making reference to Nigerian swimming pools? I don't dispute cases of freak accidents but many don't anticipate these accidents and neglect secondary barriers. Some parents overestimate their kids swimming ability and leave them without supervision. Access control with net barriers is the simplest solution for a society like Nigeria.

I babysat my aunt's twin girls one Saturday like that.

They broke my TV.

I managed to replace the TV after some months.

Then, they came visiting again. Because of them, I had to hang the TV almost on the ceiling to prevent stories that touch. I had to move the TV stand aside as well to stop them using it as a ladder.

Then, after I put the TV in a children's channel, I went to make some toast for them.

Alternatively, you can train your child on how to swim, I mean small children as young as 3 yrs are being trained to swim in the pool, there are some child aquatic trainers who specialize in this. I watch the video.
