I am not a fan of open drainage but I think we can exscuse this one.

It's a highway crisscrossing villages and towns. It is not feasible to close it tilll the end. Maybe they should try and close the parts that falls into towns.

I really agree with you if they will cover the part where people live.

Abeg free this thing... We are comfortable with the open drainage system. Open/closed drainage is not our main problem.

I understand you are comfortable with the status quo, and mediocrity, and wasting your tax is not your main problem it is your opinion, and will not argue with you on that but to educate you, my own opinion is whatever is worth doing is worth well. Constructing open drainage where the majority of the people lack the understanding of the importance of a clean environment as I said before, is penny-wise pound foolish. Why I say this is because our people throw their waste into it thereby clogging it and resulting in road damage when there is rain, which shortens the life span of the roads.

I was just looking to find fault here but I was disappointed. Everywhere is neat and I can't find one sachet water or refuse on the roads, like they're sweeping the roads darly. But Is like only on this road because we've seen it thousand times. Nevertheless it's quite impressive and means it's achievable to keep a decent environment. Traffic lights, street lights and marked roads. I can see pedestrian walk way. Owerri is trying, they should replicate such to Orlu and Okigwe too.

Lol. Your foolishness amazes me.

SO why is he now crying that they should stop?

Dude, you either lack comprehension skills or you’re just putting on an act playing daft!

Social or Behavioural Sciences is not an exact science! Different individuals would react to the same situation in different ways as the variables can’t always be the same! Mazi Kanu had witnessed his brethren being either shot or hacked down in cold blood on different occasions: shooting of unarmed agitators; Uzo-Uwani; Nimbo….just to name a few! And your darling Buhari gov’t, whose basic remit is to ensure the protection of lives and properties of ALL Nigerians, carried on with life as if it’s mere chickens being slaughtered! Till today, can you tell me the findings of any federal judicial enquiry set up to investigate any of these incidents (if any at all were set up), and who were fingered either as the culprits or officials guilty of dereliction of duty!? I’ll be waiting for your answer with bated breath!

Mazi Kanu and the rest of us were witnessing this criminal display of evil by the Buhari gov’t unfold.…with nobody being held to account, yet you now want us to wear the biblical sackcloth, and roll on the floor in anguish that UGM were targeting the criminal Nigerian police or attacking one of the symbols of Fulani hegemonic oppression….ie, the prisons! Why do you expect of Mazi Kanu the kind of morality and show of empathy that you’re unprepared to show to his people!? Dude, if Mazi Kanu cheering on UGM attacking police and Owerri prison is the ‘smoking gun’ you have against him, then you have no case!

You’re now asking another dumbass question…’why is he now crying that they should stop?’ Like i stated earlier, the study of human emotions is not an exact science! The way you react to a situation today could be different to the way you react to the same situation weeks down the line when variables change and emotions are a lot cooler! Mazi Kanu is aware that 5th columnists and agents of the deep state have used the period of his incarceration to hijack the struggle and his appeal for calm is not only in keeping with the wishes of Igbo elders who have called for a ‘political settlement’ to the issues at hand.….the call for restraint would also pull the rug from beneath the feet of all these impostors and 5th-columnists (you…simon ekpa…chinasa nworu…DOS….autopilots….etc), and remove the reason they give for continuing sit-at-home attacks and murder of Igbo on the streets! Following on from this, we can now better understand why the Buhari gov’t and their hegemonic partners don’t want Mazi Kanu released: his release would put paid to the evil schemes they have going on in the south-east!

It hasn’t gone unnoticed how you (and all your alternate monikers and partners) are fond of derailing Igbo threads…making posts to criticise Mazi Kanu and IPOB, even when there’s no reason for it! This is what you’ve just done on this thread. Need i remind you lot that this, and similar threads, were created to discuss developmental issues of the state concerned. Stop derailing them with your insane anti-Kanu/IPOB bile! Instead create a new thread if you have a anti-Kanu/IPOB rant to get off your chest….we can all meet there to discuss!

Travel through the road you will see litters, road sweepers apparently don't exist in Owerri and automated car sweepers formally introduced by ihediohia was probably a media wyning. The pictures are probably just after the road was completed. Now it's a different view.

Modified: am not discrediting imo or whomever handled or is handling urban renewal.
But the truth is the roads are no longer in good shape. They where not been maintained. And currently are still not properly maintained. Bad roads are still inherent. Truth. World Bank axis, assembly axis, commercial district 2, Douglas road, warehouse, some stretches of wethdral, beyond are all showing the effects of degradation.

I understand your reasoning, though i once read somewhere that underground drainage system isn’t really practical for tropical/rainforest zones that witness heavy rainfall, as the drainage pipes could be overwhelmed. There’s some sense in this i think.

I am more Igbo than you are. I have always stood and fought for Igbo interests offline and online. Defending the great Igbo race.

Where we are not the same is that I refuse to be a stupid Igbo who follows a leader who don't think about the consequences of his actions and inactions. It is a fact that Kanu encouraged UGM's mayhem,. If he had condemned them, IPOB members and other Igbos would've followed suit. I was here when in all posts where UGM attack police stations and kill officers who are our brothers IPOB members and some nut Igbos go there and cheer them, they cheer them because their leader who does not think logically and rationally has cheered them instead of condemning them.

I was more involved in the IPOB movement than u dude. I was designing IPOB's designs as early as 2015 to your Emeka Gift and was sacked from my first place of work doing so. I parted ways when he started becoming inclined to violence and nonsense talks (Buhari is dead, Yoruba pastors are fraud, etc.) instead of tackling issues.

I am not a fool to allow illogical people to run a rampage in a region I hold dear. My mum is from Abia, I am from Oyigbo, Rivers.

Whatever happens in SE affects me too. I will not be alive and allow IPOB to encourage nuisance to run with guns around SE unchecked in any guise. MBANNU.

They claim to fight herdsmen but Herdsmen still kidnap our people and the killings have since intensified. Now we don't even know who is doing all the killings.

I want a peaceful SE so that our economy will change for the better and people won't need to migrate to Lagos to make a fortune. This is why Kanu is myopic. It is not every fight you must win. U want Biafra but u can't feed yourself, u don't have good access roads to all villages in SE. Let's focus on fixing our land and economy by engaging our leaders and being politically active. If we fail to do the needful, we will be a laughing stock continuously as IPOB has made us become.

I for one is someone that hates to negotiate from the point of Weakness. It is against my principle and personality. IPOB and SE is weak. TO negotiate we need power. Political or economical. We may find it hard to get political power, but who says we can't get economic power?? Who can stop uS??!!!

We already have economic power as individuals, it is just to simply transfer it to our states and region so that states can have enough money to get power. These are the basic things u have to seek out before holding a flag and shouting "GIVE US BIAFRA" ( which I find very demeaning and insulting to the Igbo race, we don't beg for something, that's weakness)

There is no future in SE with Kanu. I want him to be released and I want him to cease his agitations.. Kanu is not the leader we should rally around. People like Obi, Umahi and Soludo are the kind of people we need as they think thank to forge a great course for ALaIgbo (SS/SE). Time is ticking, we must not allow people to move ahead of us, we are playing states in the north and SW is growing to outpace SE states, especially Abia and Enugu. That's unacceptable.

We need a viable economy in SE, the only way to guarantee it is secure. This is why I hate Kanu for encouraging the ravagin UGM, even though they are killing just policemen do u think an investor will be comfortable staying in a place where nuisance will come out of their hiding and just go about killing police people? Have u not seen how these killings have metamorphosed to kidnapping and killings in SE?

If u know so much about sociology and human behaviour as u claim u should know it is a bad idea to encourage gun running and indiscriminate killing in a region with low rate of employment and industries. These things have effects!!!!!

*Pics of where SE (Our SS States are doing well) states sit in Fiscal performance, IGR and GDP ranking is a call for concern. I want us to sit at the top 10, I mean all SE states in the top 10. That's my concern. Not Kanu or Biafra!!!

IT IS TIME TO UNLOCK SE, THE TIME IS NOW, BUT BEFORE WE CAN DO IT, WE NEED PEACE.

CEASE ALL AGITATIONS, AND FOCUS ON BUILDING A BETTER REGION WITH BETTER ECONOMIC STRENGTH. THIS STRENGTH WILL ATTRACT MANY TO ALAIGBO, THE POPULATION WILL INCREASE OUR VOTING POWER, INCREASE OUR DIPLOMATIC POWER, AND INCREASE OUR BARGAINING POWER WITH THE PRESENCE OF KEY INVESTMENTS AND INVESTORS THAT CAN CALL THE SHOTS!!

A VERY SIMPLE LOGIC. BUT WE WANT TO DESTROY OURSELF

Nice one, I love Uzodinma's drive on Urban renewal, he should keep it steady.

I will always maintain that it is time Owerri gets a CBD, Wetheral road is a good location. Take out some blocks and build a standard skyscraper office complex there. These will engineer a change, others will follow suite. I trust my Igbo people, we are very competitive.

Hope is trying on roads. He needs to institute a better waste management and environmental policy. Around Amakohia axis roads are dusty and grasses overgrown along the road and median. These things deface the city. He should intensify efforts to always trim the grass and also use road sweepers to keep the roads sand free.

Uzodima should just focus on roads, that's okay (but he must not ignore education and health, Imo did poorly in WAEC this year)

I think Rochs deserves some accolades on what Owerri is turning into, my problem with him is his highhandedness and how he turned governance to a family affair and some low quality contracts that he did.

But I love his ambition and drives for Owerri
