1. When you are young, you want to grow old and be free. When you are old, you reminisce about your younger days. Such is life.

2. The fact that humans don't know about the future is paradoxical: it makes them prepare for what's ahead; and it makes them prepare wrongly.
Yeah, we are sure there's a future but we don't know what the future entails. More like trial and error because life is not linear, it is a hole full of complex interconnecting lines activated by myriads of actions, behaviors, beliefs, experiences, and backgrounds of people with different faces and motivations. The action and behaviour of one affects the whole.

3. When we were young, we see the snippet of luxuries of older people, oblivious to their pains and struggles. We are eager for that luxury and minute joy because we think that's all there is until we become adults and the scales fall off. This also happens in business and success: we see the few that made it to the top and never considered the majority that failed - survivorship bias.

4. Anyway, it would have been a different story had it been there is economic prosperity. Though being an adult comes with a lot of responsibility; to whom much is given much is expected. However, we get shocked because as we entered adulthood, with little parental guidance or support we become perplexed and paranoid; what we envisaged differs from reality.

5. That's why parental guidance is sacrosanct in the lives of every child because they must prepare the child for the future by feeding them with good wisdom and exposing them to little discomfort so that when they grow up they can be able to navigate the world.

The world is not what we think it is. It is brutal!

My own is that I can never be like those useless uncles that tell you to send your account Number and yet nothing tl date ... Its over 10 years already.. School days and false hope

When I was a child, I used to think that adults were enjoying life, and could do things that I could not do....

Now as an adult....well, noone told me it would be so effing STRESSFUL!

I remember when I was much younger and still under my parents, I was reminded I made a statement of which I truly remember that " why would mummy be giving i and my siblings a piece of meat each whenever we eat, that when I grow up and on my own I will be eating four pieces of meat per meal" Last year my dad called and said Femi how many meats did you eat today when taking your dinner? He reminded me of that statement and we both laughed. The reality is that some days I don't even eat meat, na eja sawa we go just manage like that! This Buhari regime no be beans!

Well, some of us religious people are hit by life, and either see how God blesses us more, keeps us from disaster, or is setting us up to learn some lessons that would be beneficial to us later on....or even makes us more compassionate.

Have no objection to atheists...but at the same time, people who lose their faith because hardship...some of them have this idea of God being a goodies master. Not someone who wants you to mature, and to grow, and to be stronger in times of adversity.

Well, I probably am still religious because I know that God won't answer my prayer to make me lose weight by touching my body and making me lose 100 pounds in five days....instead, he would direct me to be more disciplined, and learn overtime that food should not be my master.....meaning I grow as a person. (and also because I went to a church that drummed the idea of God not being a goodies master into my head...).

For real? God don butter him bread! Even if I had money like Dangote I wouldn't still eat 8 pieces of meat. Too much meat consumption when someone is over age of 40 isn't really good for one's health, this is something i didn't know as a kid. But the reality is that times are hard now, na management some of us dey manage for naija! Children school fees and other meaningful projects will humble someone.
