If you can, please tune in to BBC, channel 400. They're playing a documentary termed "The cost of being an atheist". If you recall, many months ago, there was furore in Kano because a certain Mubarak Bala was arrested and charged to Court because he said "there is no God" on the Radio station. It was termed "blasphemy" even though he no longer identifies as a Muslim. That Mubarak has been sentenced to 24 years in prison. The documentary is quite eye opening on Soo many levels, from the complication of jurisdiction and inter-affairs of Sharia law to the Nigerian constitution. And the extremity of the sentencing. Do tune in if you can. |

Re: EPL Chatroom - All Discussions by izzou(m): 4:40pm On Nov 06, 2022 |
BlueRayDick: There is no "HOW" sir. I have gone through the manifesto of BAT and Obi, and i am very convinced that if any win, they will spend the next four years blaming Buhari. All i see is "We will establish", "We will create", "We will commence", "We will equip".... Where will the funds come from? No clue The best we will get next 4 years is that they will borrow billions from China, build infrastructure and tell you they did well. The dollar is rising to 900 and none of the candidates have proffered a solution. Their solution is that you vote them in by February, so they can fix it. I have started appreciating Buhari's incompetence. It would be cherished by the time we get to 2027. 2 Likes 1 Share |

izzou:I might be wrong, but there's no candidate in any part of the world that can release specifics on how much they'd allocate to each sector or even how much they'd raise to finance the promises in their manifesto. Until the candidate has won, there's no way they'd know how to allocate the money available. The four to five months between when they win and when they're sworn in is when the HOW starts to take place. The easy projects will most likely find their way into the first year's budget and get ticked off within the first year, some other's will run through the course of the candidate's tenure, and some won't even kick off until three-four years into the candidate's tenure when one or two factors necessary for their execution are now available (maybe loan's, debt relief or even a more stable economy). At the end of the candidate's four-year term, electorates can now check to see how well the candidate performed and whether their performance is enough to get them re-elected. As with any performance, the candidate might not be able to deliver 100/100, and in some cases, even 50% is enough, if Buhari delivered even 30%, I doubt we for dey the position we dey now. In a parliamentary system, all I've said might not apply since candidates are already active participants in the system, so will be creating a manifesto from a far more informed position. Also, in Nigeria, much of our finance is shrouded in secrecy so this makes it even more difficult for candidates to make detailed plans outside of government. If there's any candidate you should be placing this burden of HOW on, it should be Tinubu since he's a part and parcel of the present APC government but sadly he's hiding from scrutiny. 5 Likes 2 Shares |

Funny enough Kola Abiola is the only one who understands the assignment for opening remarks. Kwankwanso and Obi were just reciting their CVs. Kola wobbled a little bit sha when he forgot the name of his running mate. But he's been the best spoken so far. Okowa on the mic now 1 Like |

How would you have dealt with the Abj-Kaduna train bombings and kidnappings? Obi says he would done things differently . He would have communicated with the families through out and showed empathy. This man js a clown. Kwakwaso says as former defence minister he is well positioned to realise that the 250k members of the armed forces is way too small for a country of Nigeria's size. He wants to bump the armed forces numbers up to about a million men. He also wants to do this for the police. This makes more sense 9 Likes |

Kola says National Security Council has not sat once since 1999. That isn't good enough. Whilst we keep focusing on faults in thr system, he feels the system has not even been implemented at all. Kola says that we have enough men to address the shortfall of security personnel in the short term by pulling people from nsdsc. Let's not reinvent that wheel. He said a bunch of nothing, but in a well spoken way 1 Like |
