That’s not true . Nothing of such is on Cic website , on their site dey wrote atleast 6months validity and they won’t give visa more dan d validity date on a passport . Let’s say for instance ur 8mnths validity pp gets stamped d validity date on d visa wudnt be more dan d 8mnths . 3mnths to d expiry date of d pp , it’s advisable u present a new pp where new visa for d duration of ur stay wud be stamped ….
To avoid all these stress , if u can renew ur pp now den go ahead and do it , so that u can use it for ur visa processing instead .

Okay thank you..i Ve started visa processing already..I will just have to apply for the new passport so I can submit the new one when they request for it... I guess that's okay right?

Thanks, that's assuring, cause I was worried about the black market rate issue.

I haven't really seen anyone on this group mention NSE as the means they got their visa, is this route still valid?.

pls can you help me with some list of good collages that I can apply..

Pls my nl family
I need your help on this issue
My friend got ppr last week
An his school is Uni of Manitoba he has 3 starting date which he was not able to meet up an they don’t defer an his course is 4yrs own
My ?is now how will he do it without any new admission letter for now ? Both their January an may intake is filled up
What ca he do
Secondly his Pasport is expiring by august next year again an he has four year course to do
Pls help us out
@ I need your help all pls
Will he be allow to enter Canada
If he has missed all his start dates and now has visa, he should just reapply, he would be given the next start date of Jan and May. (How did he know Jan & May intakes are full?, unless its not University 1 Program of UofManitoba).
I have someone who missed last intake of this September, got his visa later in September, reapplied and got a new admission for Jan 2023. He is in Canada now.

As per the passport validty, he supposed to have renewed his passport, but if he has not, he would only get an 8 months visa. When he gets into Canada, he should go and renew his passport immediately.
Even though he is supposed to get a 4yr visa, he would get only 8months now.

Please, does this mean the VOs have access to the current available balance in one’s account to make their decision? How about if one has a very good account statement and records including tuition fee been paid (and good explanation in the SOP), and then removed the funds before the final decision? What could happen in this case? Could the application still be rejected due to funds not readily available? Do they have access to the current account balance as at when making decisions?
No, VOs only have access to what (the period) you submitted in MBS. They work mostly based on the statement you submitted.
They can not even request the bank to tell them your current bank balance. If they want updated info on your statement for any reason, they would request from the applicant (happens very rarely).

The CBN rate at that particular time will determine the rate the bank will use.

It means u must hav a valid pp thru out ur expected time in Canada, and this can be one pp all thru or combination of old and reissued pp… for instance u have 2yrs validity on ur pp and u are goin for 4yrs course so u would approach NIS to reissue 5yrs pp for u ? U dey jonz …lol …dey won’t even attend to u until u have 6months left as expiration date on ur pp and 1yr for naija in diaspora
Cheebu:

It's on the passport request letter.

"Your passport must be valid for the duration of your expected length of stay in Canada."

"Please note that we cannot issue a visa beyond the expiry date on the passport."

Each passport comes with its num, but then d expired passport num would also be written on d bio data page of d new passport reissued …
They can only request for passport of an approved application, definitely it’s d passprt that has d passport number included on d application u will submit for stamping . The validity of the visa cannot be more than d validity of the passport tho
When u get to Canada u can always apply for passport renewal and submit it to d rightful authority for new visa stamping .
If you renew it now while u r here and while d visa is on it , d renewal will automatically renders d passport void and d new one becomes d valid passport .You will need another visa to be stamped on the new passport by so doing.

According to NIS they won’t attend to renewal only if it’s 6months to expiration , I don’t know if the policy has changed now . I doubt if they would renew ur 8months to expiration pp, but if they do, u have to let ircc knw bout ur updated pp via webform so by the time ur application gets approved you can able to submit the new passport for stamping instead of d old one

Correction: if you have a valid visa on an old passport, that visa will still be valid even though you have a new passport, that's why the immigration will stamp "without prejudice" on the old passport. You can still use the visa, just take both passports along for your trip.

Secondly, if you renew your passport, send the new biodata page through webform and to Nairobi email and when you receive PPR, you can send the new passport, it will be stamped, regardless that you used an old passport for the initial application. Just like you said, the old passport number is indicated on the new one and there should be no issues.

Hope this helps.

Hi again,

Typically, passport renewal is done six months to expiration of your passport. However, they have what is called "migration" or something like that, you can renew your passport if you have more than six months to the expiration, especially for reasons like getting study visas. Yes, you pay more but it's achievable.

Your passport will be stamped up to the date of its expiration. Please note that the visa on your passport is for entry/exit into Canada. At the port of entry, you will be issued your study permit which will also be to the point of validity expiration of your passport. After entering Canada and when you have a new passport, you will apply for study permit extension and a new study permit will be issued to cover for your program duration. If you need to travel, you will also need to apply for TRV so that your new passport will also be stamped.

Hope this helps.

Hi my case is similar, I’m going for a 2 years course in Durham college in May but my pp expires 2024 I have approximately 1 year left. Would they stamp my pp for 1 year or reject it? Because if I don’t submit for visa processing now I might not make May 2023

Per your second point, as long as you have the yellow paper you were given when you went to do your biometrics for the first time or a copy of it and you submit to the same place your biometrics was captured, you don't pay transmission fees.

Cheebu:

This info can be misleading. Passport submission is only free if you're submitting to where you did your biometrics AND if it's your first application since your biometrics.

If your first application was refused & the second one accepted, you must pay the #9410 package transmission fee regardless of where you submit. It doesn't make sense but it is what it is!

I beg to differ. I only submitted my passport last week. I went with the yellow strip and I still paid the money. A lot of folks were complaining. I couldn't explain it myself either.

The attendant categorically said that if my application was approved the first time, I wouldn't have paid the money. What does that even mean? Lol
