Ramaphosa in Nairobi for the creation of Pan African airline - a partnership btw SAA and KQ https://www.theeastafrican.co.ke/tea/business/pan-african-airline-plans-fly-into-headwinds-3935996 The quest to create a pan-African airline through a joint venture between Kenya Airways and South African Airways by June next year is facing early turbulence after both carriers sought exemption from clauses on the competition. Kenya Airways (KQ) last week said it is seeking exemptions from the clauses in Kenya and regional trading blocs, several months after South African Airways (SAA) raised the same plea back home. The move means it will be difficult to implement the Single African Air Transport Market (SAATM) and the Africa Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA) initiatives that are key in having a continental airline. |

Mkenya2019:Ghana peak demand for the last few years 2019 - 2804Mw 2020 - 3280Mw 2021 - 3740Mw 2022 - 3984Mw We've not ended the year yet and we are already at 3984 megawatt. You can see the trend of at least 400Mw increase in demand yearly. So from 2023, we have to start adding 400mw of electricity else we will have electricity problems from 2024 going. The West African nation has an installed energy generation capacity of 5,050MW comprising hydro, thermal and other renewable energy sources. However, dependable generation is 4,742MW... Out of this dependable generation, we require an 18% reserve capacity which means in 2023 we have to sign a 1200mw to 1600mw power generation agreement inorder to have it onstream by 2026. This huge demand is being driven by the manufacturing sector, service sector and household consumption. That's the sign of a growing economy. |

Kenya liquidity challenges ease - as inflation also starting to come down. Look domestic debt market in kenya now has confidence in Ruto team - latest 153 percent oversubscribed - at 14 percent interest(big problem) . IMF also happy with new reformist gov - IMF has expressed confidence in President Ruto's debt management strategy ahead of disbursing a Ksh52.7 billion loan to the country.

What was there to debunk. You just posted someone analysis. Nigeria has about 15billion dollars in Eurobond. Kenya has 8-7B dollars Your debt management is already a mess - as you're beyond 100 percent of revenues to debt. obaaderemi: |

I am only aware of these.. 1) Kenya went for its first Eurobond in June 2014 where a total of Sh280 billion was borrowed in five and 10-year tranches. This inaugural Eurobond generated heated controversy after the government failed to show projects financed by the debt paper. - 3 billion dollars 2) The government went back for another Eurobond in 2018, where it netted Sh202 billion in 10 and 30-year tranches - 2 billion dollars 3) In 2019, Kenya was back at the international markets where it raised its Sh210 billion in its third Eurobond named the Kachumbari bond, that also repaid other loans and funded unspecified infrastructure projects. - 2B dollars - most used to retire/extend the frist one 4) 2021 - 1 billion dollars - 12yr bond. obaaderemi: |

Dangote is always welcomed to kenya - as long as he is not coming to seek favours like he does in other countries. He fears competition. Let him come and compete with fellow Australian rich man. Kenya welcome everyone - black, blue, green, yellow - to visit/invest/live - hakuna matata - karibu tena. obaaderemi: |

That is tangential to the issues at fore - which that kenya has slowed down it's apetite for Eurobond as response to debt crisis - that is why IMF are happy with us - and unhappy with Ghana - and Nigeria. obaaderemi: |

Mkenya2019:I like the way you don't have an understanding of Ghana This does not include CEBS system load For instance, in 2019, plus CEBS system load, total system load was 3078Mw. The figures I report all have CEBS load which you get from Gridco. So like I said, we are not paying any over capacity charge That ended in 2018 ending when the last overcapacity facility was renegotiated and now as we speak...all generation capacity are almost used up. Accra alone consumes the total electricity consumption of both Togo and Benin combined and this consumption is also more than Half the total consumption of Kenya.

obaaderemi:We have the same revenues largely..but you have more debt than us...we are at 80b dollars...you're at 110b dollars.Your total budget including all the 36 states are about 40 billion..Kenya about 35b.From debt servicing ratio alone you're in problems. Your stats only good compared to your estimated GDP... which is just a random figure...not money in gov coffers. Nigeria is worse position surviving on oil windfalls but oil production is falling..now down to mere million barrel per day.The worse you're now borrowing to finance fuel susbidy. That right there is insane.I am nominating you to join Ghana next in the meltdown.Your only advantage your naira is not free floating otherwise black market rate is 800 plus. |

Kenya has all the potential to become a prosperous country in Africa . Kenya by luck, can count Obama,Rishi Sunak ,Suella Braverman as them via ancestry. These might not seem important , but it matters as these people will have a little bit of soft spot to country of origin of their parents . A dynamic president will utilize these small opportunities . Secondly ,Kenyan total fertility is coming down ,which is very good news as parents can afford their children ,more resources for their development . Most importantly, the future is in ICT (information technology) Nairobi has all the advantages , Good climate ,comparatively good infrastructure and talent . William Ruto ,if he really want to transform Kenya ,should focus on human resources and infra . They are many ICT professionals from African countries ,who want to relocate but unable to do so. Lagos has advantage in human resources ,but due to security and currency policies , no leading multi national companies will come to Nigeria |

EKONGKING: Lagos has advantage in human resources ,but due to security and currency policies , no leading multi national companies will come to NigeriaYou spoilt your otherwise good submission above on Kenya with this. If you want to criticise Nigeria, criticise with facts. (1) What is the security situation in Lagos compared to Kenya or better still what is that security situation in Lagos driving companies away? (2) Are you saying there are no leading multinational companies coming to Nigeria? As for the currency policies, you may have a point, but both of my questions above to you still stands. |
