Ekpekus: How many still do it. How many have to be rescued and brought home. These US own been going on for decades and no one ever begs to return home. Infact if deported their sole life's mission would be how to return 1 Like |

Or let me even say did you work as a cardiologist in the US for just 2 years and u still hold the opinion that taking 40kUSD(about 30million Naira) to return home is better. Or there's another reason u will take that money to return home 3 Likes |

PoliteActivist:Since we’re not talking about criminals and mentally ill persons. Those will accept any deal. No sane able body Nigeria would leave the US for $10k. You better come with something worth it. Even if he’s homeless, so far he’s not sick in the head, he won’t accept that. He knows there’s better life ahead. US is not Europe. Things always get better for anyone that’s determined 1 Like 1 Share |

So, I can safely infer that you work for NHS. We all know NHS does not pay but you will have an okay pension and job security. Even civil service pay more than NHS and has better pension. I just googled your job and saw that it does not pay much and it is niche. That explains your generalisation. Edited: Just saw that you worked as a contractor. Was your employer also paying peanuts? sukkot: |

dupyshoo:i said i was a contractor. my job is not listed. i work as an independent contractor to BMI Healthcare. get your facts straight. we negotiate our pay |

dupyshoo:thats not the point the point is 1--- uk pays low wages 2--if you earn over 50k you are on a higher tax bracket where they almost take half your salary in taxes. so it matters not how much you earn because the tax system will level everybody out to the same low amount of take home. its a system 2 Likes |

You just avoided my question. So you were not part of the 0.000001% (not sure of the number of zeros). And I still maintain that if you are here legally and on a route to citizenship, you are hardworking, happy to retrain, if necessary, you will do well for yourself, notwithstanding the high tax. The high tax is the reason why unenployed people are not robbing and kidnapping us. sukkot: 2 Likes |

PoliteActivist: People living outside Nigeria do so for many reasons and not because of money only. Better lifestyle. Stability. Free education for children. Access to quality passport or citizenship that provides greater opportunity in future. And $40k is not a big deal in the US. That’s what you can earn in 6-8mths. $40k converted to NGN only makes you appear privileged, but you will still endure the generators and area boys and bad roads and insecurity and substandard lifestyle and over priced lousy education and so many other nonsense. |
