If Ghana and Morocco can scale through, I will sleep well for the next 2 weeks. If 3 CAF countries qualify, it'll be our best outing! What a tournament for Africa. We thought Asia surpassed Africa but they're fumbling the bag right now 3 Likes |

This Senegalese team reminds me of our 2014 team. What a team that was! Qualified to the second round with some nerve racking and determined performances. Gave France a game of its life and even had a goal controversially ruled out for offside! The French victory was aided by the referee and negative football. This Senegalese team will give England a scare. Now that we have VAR unlike 2014, I do hope it will not be manipulated to favor the English. Sarr against Tripper will be mouth watering! 1 Like |

Aliou Cisse becomes 2nd African coach to get to the WC 2nd round after the late Stephen Keshi. Senegal has wobbled and fumbled several times with Cisse as coach but they stuck with him, and now he has won their 1st ANC and taken them to the 2nd round too. Let us appoint Amuneke, give him time even if he fails initially and see what he can do. However, the NFF themselves are any coaches nightmare especially the Nigerian born coaches. They frustrated Keshi, did same to Oliseh (according to Oliseh, he was owned many months of salary, he even used his own money to feed the CHAN team), Siasia, his last success with Nigeria was largely through his own efforts, imagine the sports minister and NFF dragging the money given to Sia1s team by the Japanese guy. 2 Likes 1 Share |

typicalgamer:Restaurant can have the best cooking utensils, appliances and more importantly ingredients but give them to the wrong hands, the food will be disastrous!!!!! We need to have good restaurant managers (NFF) and most definitely, good chefs to cook us a meal we would all love to eat. We need to have good manager |

I like the fact that most of the African teams have switched mentality and go into their games with more boldness and brave. No surprises that the more positive approach gets you results. |

Italy won the 1982 World Cup but the Brazilian team was widely regarded as the best team at the tournament and one of the best team ever at the World Cup. Same with the 1974 Dutch team! I hope this helps. Thanks isan: 1 Like |

mostob:While I respect Keshi, that was the major drawback he had, I can't defend his bench, I won't lie, it made no sense. Yes he was positive, never feared any opponents, a good motivator but he just didn't select the right players to be on the bench. |

Onazi was intentionally injured! Same way the Italians intentionally took out Amuneke and Amokachi at the 1994 World cup second round! It irks me when peeps disparage or belittle the Super Eagles. mostob: 1 Like |

Trouble is are the players, fans, administrators and government ready to be patient and trust the process or scatter everything once we hit a road bump? Question now is should we stick with JP or bring in someone new? Who will the new be Amuneke, Olofinjana or reappoint Oliseh? Whatever we decide will need patience and clarity of purpose. I feel sad for Ecuador sha. Four points will be enough for some teams to qualify from their groups but here they are with the same four points but can't qualify. Kudos to Senegal. They showed grit and determination. 2 Likes |

Amuneke was Assistant to Austin, right? Oliseh contributed immensely to the problem we are facing today. We need to stop moving in circles. Paserio just started and he has not lost any competitive game. To me Cisse has not done anything special. The Senegalese team hardly scores from open play. Fortunately, they have one of the best CB and goalkeepers in the world. Once they score you through penalties or set piece, they lock up! chrisooblog: |

fabyom:That is specious distinction. It is arguable that Nigeria's USA 94 team offered the best performance of any African team at the world cup. Don't conflate most entertaining with best performance. Best performance belongs to those who have crossed the threshold of the second round and made it to the quarter final especially the Senegal 02 and Ghana 2010 sides. |

AndSunGorilla: Me thinks that the money for running the national teams should be seperate from NFF budget and shouldn't be under NFF Just like you budget for salaries of federal workers We have a calendar for national teams for the year and budget for it but not subject to NFF. It should come straight from Head of Service |
