Buhari signed Executive Order 10 for LG and Judiciary autonomy and the Govenors took the FG to court.

The National Assembly has passed the LG autonomy bill but because it's a constitutional amendment, it needs the concurrence of the State house of assemblies.

Currently 20 state house of Assembly has voted on the bill, 16 voted for and 4 voted against. The 4 that voted against are Lagos, Benue, Ekiti and Adamawa.

On the part of Lagos, they want the FG to recognize the 34 LCDA that was created so they can be funded directly.

Out of the 16 left to vote, 8 must vote for the bill for that part of the constitution to be changed.

From what I was able to gather, the marketers say its not from them. They said because NNPC is unable to distribute fuel to the various depot due to pipeline vandalism, some independent companies who own tank farms have to lift the petrol from NNPC and sell to marketers. They claim those ones are responsible for inflating the price.

They also said some very big marketers have their own tank farms or they can afford to buy in very large quantities from those who own tank farms hence the reason they can still sell at 180 naira.

Those of them who are small players don't have a choice. They claim they don't even get the fuel at 180 so they can't sell at 180.

NB: I have not verified any of these. Just putting out what I heard from the marketers.

Nnpc just talks a lot of shit. They are the face of the sole importers of pms. Their hands were fully in it.

The adulterated product had to be evacuated from underground tanks and shipped back to depots and blended with pms in their large tanks until the methanol dropped to acceptable levels. The marketers did this themselves. NNPC did not do Jack shit and has not reminursed anyone the last time I asked.

As for the independents, anything they say I take with a handful of salt. Their operating costs are far less than the majors. Their staff are not unionised, and they cut large safety corners. All this reduces their operating costs, capital costs and boosts their margins.
