That’s a stretch. India’s growing economy is not due to “great leadership” rather you could actually credit India’s japa crew who make a ton of remittances back home and also invest in global successful businesses like Zoho, Flipkart, Tata etc

A country of a billion people would have to work really hard to have a stagnant economy. Indians are blossoming inspite of the leadership instead of it.

Every single problem you have in Nigeria is obtainable in India–corruption, religious intolerance, superstition e.tc.

The caste system is worse than any tribalism Dayo could forment.

I think it's a bit shortsighted to say that India's economic growth is down to it's foreign remittances. And secondly, it's good leadership that knows how to utilize it's own foreign expertise.
Something that funny enough only Obi has been talking about amongst all 3 candidates.

India has become a capitalist economy also an Asian tech hub powering south east Asia.

They've built powerful global conglumerates. India is now a producing nation from a formerly import depending economy.

They now make cars, tech, generators and the likes..

Saying that good leadership did not play a role is a very bad take.

I agree with you that they also have cultural issues. Hindus and moslems have been at each other's necks for Soo long but the fact that they have grown inspite of these is testament to my point that economic growth can happen inspite of these unlike people saying that Nigeria is too divided to succeed.

The main issue I have with Biafra agitation is that whenever I discuss with agitators and ask them why they want to separate almost all the reasons they give are always problems separation won't solve. at worst it'd postpone the problem.

It would even create more problems, apart from postponing it

You’re saying Biafra will last upto 3 months?

It should

One month to celebrate the long fought victory

The next month will usher in the same set of thieves as the leaders

The third month would lead to agitations and other states calling for their cessation

You have a point. I'm not in a position to give a lengthy reply right now, but In my opinion, it is Nigeria's weak institutions have left the masses at the mercy of these leaders you describe.

But bruh, corruption is everywhere. The difference between a UK/US and us is that the government is closer to the people in the form of councils and states. There's also a dominannt social culture which allows and encourages individual franchise.

I believe more people are likely to feel empowered to compete for president in a country where there's only 5 states. The competition will naturally lead contestants to develop differentiation strategies, such as a dominant political ideology and/or a focus on performance. We saw it in the 60s. It can happen again.

I understand you, bros

But with the way corruption is rooted in every tribe, state and even religion, nothing would change even if it is 5 states

I agree that we have weak institutions, and the people are at the mercy of these thieves. But then, this is not a problem that regional government will solve.

I believe that separation in this day and age is completely useless..
An educated populace would care more about good governance than separation.
Time cures ignorance. With the advent of internet, it's only a matter of time before more people are literate about functions of government in their own lives and unimportance of religion.

Biafra would be easier to achieve and you'd get the support of all of Southerners when those wanting Biafra realise the South South wants no part of Biafra. Not Rivers, Akwa Ibom, Cross River and Edo. Certainly not Bayelsa too. Uncertain about all parts of Delta.

Once the Biafrians stop insulting and blackmailing their 'cousins' in the SS into joining them, it'd be better for everyone. We can still be relatives without living in the same house or with same surnames. Sometimes loving from a distance is better.

Biafra is a very bitter issue for many tribes in the South. Every time the propositioners bring it up and use a "one people" rallying cry, they pry open old wounds.

Yes... The politicians and the government must be the humans who went into the hospital to kidnap the 4kids. Maybe you should start by listing the names of these so called politicians let's see if they are not from that area.

I believe there are situations where separation "can" be useful like in the case of Donbass, Donetsk and Luhansk which is part of why the war in Ukraine is happening. to simplify the situation someone who favours the Russians, who are the majority of people in those places, was elected president. the west didn't like that so they did some underground work that ended up removing a democratically elected leader and then installed one that favours the west. this made the people in those places revolt and said they no longer wanted to be part of Ukraine anymore. Ukraine military with the help of Azov Battalion Nazis then started bombing those people which is why they cried to Russia to help them. This is an oversimplified version of the event but I believe in a situation like this, call for separation is kinda valid

False. Donbass and Luhansk are/was majority ethnic Ukrainian. It's about 60-40 split in ethnicity between Ukrainians and Russians in both regions.

The census is there. The Russians just formented trouble when things in Kiev didn't go their way

Wetin you dey talk? Okonjo iweala is from Delta state but identities as Igbo.

Don't forget that these "states" are just geopolitical boundaries drawn by the military for cynical purposes. Igbos are certainly not limited to only the 5 eastern states. There are igbos in rivers state from ikwerre to ahoda axis, igbos in calabar, communities that share boundary with abia state, igbos in kogi southern kogi state, communities that share boundary with igala people both in Anambra and ebonyi. And igbos in delta of course.

Igbos are the second or third largest tribe in the entire country.
The thing is that the Biafra war has created a kind pf negative image to the Igbo brand, so those outside the artificially creates state lines seem ashamed to identify as igbos.

But in all, I person think that tribal identities and affiliationsarw entirely useless.
I look forward to a Nigeria that speaks only one language, sees no difference between themselves and see themselves primarily as same group of people. It's not only when whites insult Africans we begin to feign togetherness.
