Mujtahida: A team that came second in the Nations league and lost the semi finals of the Euros by penalties is not a poor side. It is only poor to Spain because they keep striving for perfection. |

Re: "The Super Eagles Thread: The Road To AFCON 2025 And 2026 World Cup by TheGoodJoe(m): 11:53pm On Dec 13, 2022 |
Mujtahida: Let me help you. Coaches study tiki taka to broaden their understanding of the game and improve their plays. I pointed out how good Bono of Morocco is good with his feet and also how well they built from back in the game against Spain. Those are adaptations from tiki taka he adopted. Watching him, I could see the adaptations. That is why when you were talking bad of tiki taka, I said you have no clue what you were talking about. It is transforming football. So, I never insinuated Morocco plays tiki taka. |

TheGoodJoe:That is precisely the point. He took the lessons and played differently. And the point is not about lessons but how teams play. You even do not have any evidence that the lessons was about tiki taka. That's why I said we should argue like men because it appears to me that you are arguing for arguing sake. This is not an attack. Arguing for arguments sake is beneath me. I don't indulge in such. |

jihday: Lol, funds have never been the issue. All it took for Morocco to obtain such a standard was for one of theirs i.e a local coach, to win the CAF champions league. That's all it took. The questions we should be asking ourselves are What are our local coaches doing? How many of them have taken it upon themselves to educate themselves about the modern game? Why aren't they making giant strides when it comes to continental football? When last did a Nigerian team smell the final of CAF champions league? I'm sure people will talk about club administration issues but if you cannot handle adversity at club level, is it at National level you'll be able to handle it, especially when you're dealing with a country like Nigeria? Like I said earlier, we're not ready to improve. When we're ready to do so, we'll know what to do. |

daveP:Walahi it is becoming ridiculous. Once a team strings one or two passes, that's tiki taka. Once a person and Arteta are talking, it's tiki taka as if there aren't a thousand and one things in football that Arteta can teach besides tiki taka. 1 Like |

Re: "The Super Eagles Thread: The Road To AFCON 2025 And 2026 World Cup by Mujtahida: 12:16am On Dec 14, 2022 |
TheGoodJoe:So long as Morocco does not play tiki taka, they can take all the lessons they want. They are wise enough to know that that is a dead system of football. Even from an idiot, a wise man will learn how not to be a fool. Working parts can be gotten from a dead car. Still the car is dead. Incorporating elements of a style does not make the style itself faultless. Building play from behind belongs to possession football of which tiki taka is a lifeless branch ( as far as international football is concerned) If you want to know the merit or demerit of Tiki taka on the international stage you won't look at Morocco, you'd look at Spain. And Spain has been labeled boring, predictable and poor. 2 Likes 1 Share |

Mujtahida: Just a funny statement. Even Arteta is showing you that the Moroccan coach is a student. Your analogy is so off. The Moroccan coach signed to learn from a Superior. He even acknowledged he studies them. It is a deep complex system. At the end, Manchester City have won the EPL four times in five seasons. How you can try to use fool to class it is funny. Arteta sits on top of the EPL table. Wow. You see Arteta as foolish too. |
Re: "The Super Eagles Thread: The Road To AFCON 2025 And 2026 World Cup by TheGoodJoe(m): 12:33am On Dec 14, 2022 |
Mujtahida: I already told you from watching him, I could see the variations. Later showed where he even noted it. So all this argue like men talk does not add up. The point is simple. You do not even understand the gravity of what you are debating. You do not understand the impact of the tiki-taka philosophy. You do not understand how coaches travel to learn from it. Yet, you want call such system dead. The reason is because you do not understand anything about it. Some of you didn't even know the basic of the importance of a sweeper keeper but you are ready to debate about it. |

TheGoodJoe:Ohhh jeez this guy. Latin is a dead language. Should I tell you about the impact and influence of the Latin language? Does that detract from it being a dead language? I'm not talking about language per se oo before we delve into arguments about language which really is not my point because with you one has to be careful not to be drawn into the whirlpool of cyclical argument. In simple terms: influence and impact does not mean livingness. Gerrit? Your logic: Neuer is a sweeper keeper = impact of Tiki taka forgetting that sweeper keepers existed long before tiki taka, the most famous of which were Lev Yashin and Rene Higuita. Tiki taka was still in the womb when Chilavert was playing sweeper keeper. So remove your blinkers and stop seeing every modern development in football as the impact of Tiki taka. This game has history (the impact and influence of which you do not know or understand. This is not an attack. Just giving it back to you, the way you served it to me) Na why I dey say let's argue like men. 1 Like |
