There is big difference between what your mind perceive and what is the reality.
A guy who sees his girlfriend with another guy more handsome and got more bags than him feels threatened no matter how innocent their intentions are. At the office a guy who more intelligent and smart is hired and Mr John feel his job been threatened because of Mr new guy not because of the Mr new guy has any intentions. You don't reason with a man who feels threatened, usually they are defensive and you most most people use attack as a means of defense Russia vs Ukraine is a case study.
